Thank you! Usually, algae within the lichen reproduce asexually. Sexual reproduction is happening when algae exist as the independent organism, outside of the lichen body. Algal cells can be dispersed within the asexuall reproduction structures, for example, soredia ( a few algal cells surrounded by fungal hyphae) 🍄
You should try to make some videos highlighting interesting facts and features of fungi, etc. that would be more relatable to a wider audience than the highly technical stuff you're doing. Not that that isn't fine for the types who like it. :)
Hi ! Thanks for your suggestion! I was thinking about it 🤔 hopefully, in the near future I'll find time for not only educational , but also for entertaining videos
@@vandavision I believe that the technical stuff could be in an even longer format for the those that are interested and for the general audience the shorts format of the youtube would get more views, especially if its about new and interesting information (ie. "how does yeast work") or something related to daily life that is distilled down from the more complex topics like the other viewer said. The youtube algorithm tends to promote videos between 5 to 30 minutes more often than the others and is affected by viewer interraction. So asking for opinions at the end of a video could be usefull for the future videos. I just stumbled upon the channel today by chance and checked out most of the videos and i'd like to say that they are great, i just wanted to help because of it. Keep up the good work!
I think the direction in which you choose to go is entirely decided by your goals for this channel. I am really grateful for the relatively short, but detailed videos covering intermediate information, there’s very little content on youtube about lichen that isn’t just an extremely cursory overview, “hey it’s 2 things at once, it’s a mushroom and a plant at the same time, isn’t that nifty?” your work fills an incredibly important niche, but it’s a small one. It’s gonna come down to whether you’re trying to spread information or interest
Thank you for your support! I also like "technical" things, and new scientific information always makes me happy! I have many ideas regarding this channel, and hopefully, very soon, I'll have more time to make them true 🍄
Nice! Thank you! Very interesting! What types of vegetative reproduction structures do exist?
Thank you for your interest in my videos! Soredia and isidia are examples of vegetative reproduction structures of lichecns.
Very informative! Thank you for these videos!
No idea why this was recommended to me but it was very interesting!
It's amazing! 😀 so, you are welcome to join my channel 🍄
Great info!
Glad you think so! 🍄🍄🙏🏻
Excellent video. Do the algae in the lichen also reproduce sexually and disperse independently?
