It would be great to have a comparison of Smartsheet VS MS Project (the elder)

Do you ever have use cases with smartsheet where you'd want to connect data on one smartsheet to another? For example, a smartsheet tracking a list of contacts, and another smartsheet referencing that list of contacts? Just wondering if there's a way to connect the two without additional addons like data shuttle or bridge. Similar functionality to airtable basically.

@@thedigitalprojectmanager appreciate the quick response! So this is an ok way to reference a specific value, but what we were trying to do is make it easy for a user to be able to select a product from a picklist without having to manually update the drop down on multiple pages. We could reference a cell, but that's not a great workflow for a used just selecting preset options. Is there someone's to make it easy for someone to come into a sheet, and choose the product from another smartsheet while referencing all the associated data with that product in that second smartsheet? Current workflow requires you to make a manual reference every time you want to select an item from another sheet.

is it possible to do live data transfer from google docs to smartsheet?

Smartsheet can upload data from an Excel file or csv file that is stored on a cloud service, but you will need the "Data Shuttle" add-on. It can upload a full sheet, or just the changes. It can export to excel, but only the full sheet. It will overwrite the entire sheet. One interesting use is to upload a single column of data as the source of a drop down list. It's a steep upgrade price, though. I can't post the actual cost, but the DataShuttle upgrade is over 50% of our annual enterprise subscription.

Man, the constant punch-in, punch-out during the talking head segments is borderline nauseating. I understand it's for emphasis and maintaining view attention, but having these clumsy edits is distracting, and unnecessary if the content if well-presented.

Sounds like more of a personal problem

Tool is not worth the money, you do not get full standard functionality unless you pay the highest license; and even after you have to pay additional add-ons if you want more connectivity functionalities, recommend to find another tool and company for your needs

I completely disagree. I’m an IT Enterprise Manager of 20 years and I love Smartsheet. With the lowest level Business Plan (3 licenses, $75/month), it allows me to build robust, custom, scalable solutions for both project management and process engineering without the need for programmer support. I’ve been able to work through many of the add on roadblocks through creative design and standardized structure.

A bit of an out-of-bounds comment. Where is the scam? I lead the Smartsheet project within my company, and all I have seen thus far is a great product that offers a great deal of benefits to the end user. This video was very honest and accurate in its assessment, and I hope others would spend some time watching it. It's not for everyone, but it is definitely a worthwhile product.
