It's cool to see replies in the comments as recent as a month ago! I played this song for the first time on cello in 6th grade. We had an incredible teacher and a pretty good orchestra. Loved this song so much I convinced my high school teacher to get it for us my senior year. I was on bass by then, and we played this thing fast. Had so much fun with it!
Yay! You actually did it! P.S:The reason I'm excited is that some TH-camrs say they are going to do something, and they never do it, So thank you! P.P.S.: This is the only good recording that I can find on youtube, I can't say it enough, thank you!
Years ago, I played this in my own middle school orchestra. I was playing cello, then. Played it again in high school on the bass. Looking back, this song stands out as one of my absolute favorites to have played. Glad you all did well with it! Hope you get another chance to play it in high school, too!
Finally talked to my orchestra teacher from highschool and figured out that this is the song I played, on my viola in highschool, about 18 years ago. I remembered the notes all these years and now I know the song title. ❤
I hate that my middle school had to skip the slow part (con sordino) because we were rushing and couldn't prepare for it in time! This is actually a pretty cool piece when the performers know what they are doing. Also, we played the piece at about 1.75× speed.
Kaitlin Zylstra I played this in 8th grade as well. But, my regular orchestra teacher was 8 months pregnant when we were learning the song so we had a different orchestra teacher conduct us for that concert, and she didn’t have time to learn fifth position, so we all had to play the low notes. Also random information I think the substitute orchestra teacher we had come in was famous or something because she went on a music tour thingy in Europe.
Personally, I liked playing the song, though it got a bit harder when my orchestra decided to speed it up. (play it back at 1.5, and you'll see what I mean)
goddamn cellos, you get the cool part this time which is funny to me because I quit cello for violin to play melody and now I want to go back haha- Anyways playing this for honor orchestra, wish me luck I get first violin
You know your getting somewhere in music when you realize you have to find the Actual song played perfectly instead of being able to look at some middle or high school orchestra play it lol
played this my freshman year of hs...oh the memories
i played this my 7th grade year ans now i’m in freshman year ans i miss it so much!
Omg I played this in 7th gradeeeeee ah, the memoriesssssssss

Butterfly Fanatic no problem!
ClassicalHD could you do A Birch Bay Celebration by Richard Meyer? That would really help me with movement 2.
Yes, I'll put it on my list.
Musical Butterfly You’re welcome.
The day i commented this I played this last in my 8th grade orchestra. I was in first violin and we played it so well.

My grandson, a cellist in ninth grade, just played this in a concert.
That's nice, this is a great song.
We’re playing this at 1.25 speed
Same
Yall must be on crack I can barely play this at regular 😭
@@shortangel9801 imo the only part of this particular piece that is especially difficult is the higher section the top 1st violins go into.
@@shortangel9801 You would have hated our regular orchestra. In 8th grade, we played this at 1.75× speed (relative to recording).
Same here
Cellos getting a great part and being extremley fun to play: well that was unexpected
The 1.25x speed is cold
Heck yeah!!
Finally talked to my orchestra teacher from highschool and figured out that this is the song I played, on my viola in highschool, about 18 years ago. I remembered the notes all these years and now I know the song title. ❤
1:13 is all I need in life
2:22 is lovely
I played this in 5th grade the memories..

@Kaitlin Zylstra Could you timestamp it because I don't seem to recall any high-position parts for the violins?
@Kaitlin Zylstra Oh! I could see why it may be tricky.

Personally, I liked playing the song, though it got a bit harder when my orchestra decided to speed it up. (play it back at 1.5, and you'll see what I mean)
