Fab threw his drumsticks to me at the Salt Lake City show this May because I had a sign. It was super nice and literally an unforgettable moment. Can't believe I have them!
To me, Fab is the drummer drummer kind of guy, the modern Ringo. He just gets stuff done and all his beats are tight and sound awesome. I'm making a drum machine/sequencer to play along with me, since I can't find a drummer lol, and I started with Strokes songs because they were some of my favorites and also simple, but after sequencing them for a while you realize how important Fab is to the songs and how effective he uses simple variations on cool beats to give the song way more depth, like YOLO for example, he's pretty much play the same beat over and over and over on the verses (doing some crashes to signal sections of the song), but then in the chorus he goes crazy with all kinds of random stuff, like dude this is the chorus, and it works wonderfully!
Btw that Juicebox surf beat, I always though the kick was like a half note, in between the snares, but it's actually a quarter note playing all the time behind the beat. If you really listen to his drumming you'll be surprised at the things he does and how much it adds to the Strokes sound, he's one of my favorite drummers, for sure
I really like his style. One of my favorites is Take it or Leave It. Its almost got a Ringo thing going in the solo where the high-hat is all swishy and the beat under has that kind of Newwave sass.
Modern Age - great job, Cobb, no flamming there, locked tight
your kit sounds amazing and your playing is tight
The click was always in you fab!

Cobb, what drum heads do you have on your drums? They look battered but sound awesome!
Remo Coated Emperors on the Kick and Toms and a Remo Pinstripe on the Snare. I tried lots of different heads until I discovered John Bonham used Emperors and once I put them on they never came off. Easy to tune, durable and a great overall sound.
@@cobb_thedrummer thanks a lot for the comprehensive answer!
