I thought it was because she was a Factory Employee. Isn't it amazing that Two of The Street's longest running Families are now In Laws. Think about it, Ken's been living on The Street since 1960 while Gail has been living on the Street since 1974 and they are two of the longest running Families on the Show. Kind of like with The Beales/Fowlers/Mitchells on EastEnders. I was surprised thy didn't ask Billy but I'm not surprised what he did to Susan.
