Nice to see that not everything is machine made
For me, I would rather have seen more machine stitching as I felt that it was adequate for the end result. Hand stitching all around the bottom piece was a waste of time and did not look better than if it had been hand stitched. Some of these things are based on precedent which doesn't always mean the better result, IMO.
The skill that it takes to do this! I would love to learn the craft behind restoration like this!

They used vachetta, which is what the original material they replaced. It’s still an authentic Louis Vuitton. However, I don’t believe LV would repair a piece that was repaired elsewhere prior though.
Is this service part of the guarantee when buying the bag?
are restored handbags still worth something or do they loose a lot of value? asking because i've run into some old and ripped LV at the flea market in Mexico ( they bring in tons of donated or thrown out things from the US) but have passed up on some because I never thought about getting them restored tbh.

I like the work but the color is not even... Maybe the absortion of the dye leather...Did you apply tops/protection after apllying dye leather? So that it can protect the color and dye transfer..

How do you fix a sticky zip? 😅
Lightly rub a bar of soap on inside/outside. I use Ivory because of the smell.
Rub the end of a candle over it and pull back an forwards. Also brush it first to remove any dust etc.

I always find it sad that a top range name like LV should mix such a huge amount of plastic with their lovely leather trim. Probably due to the manufacturing costs that would be involved in such a large item 🤷🏻♀️? However I think LV do make all leather bags...
To start with they use canvas coated with PVC. This is so strong and light that it survives the leather, as you can see by the condition of the bag when first presented. LV started out as a luggage manufacturer and it is for reasons of strength and. lightness that they use the coated canvas. It's not a "huge amount of plastic" it's coated only; the canvas is the bulk of the item.. Read up on the subject...it is interesting. And BTW so many people buy PVC bags and call them 'vegan friendly' whereas they will last over 100 years before decomposing and wear out rapidly. Instead, this is sustainable use with leather on the tension parts. I admire it and the skills involved in making and repair.

For a price, and the quality is variable. I have heard they use not as good quality leather as in earlier days. If I'm paying for a repair I want it to last!
