Thanks for explaining a bib card so simply. I gained more understanding of the entire process from this short video than from anything else.

Yeah same here. Got sick of having to rewind the video of previous zettelkasten tutorials until I found this guy.

When are you gonna rip apart the Second Brain Book? And what are the best alternatives to the PARA method? It might rustle the jimmies of some tiago fanboys, but if it is beneficial to the world, it is worth it.

I believe BASB works for those who are not knowledge workers. Some would disagree but I’ve done BASB and found it useful for storing information but not interacting with it.
I used Obsidian to build a zettelkasten for 6 months and it didn’t work so I00% agree with Scott here. All brains work differently and I always suggest people to try different things and find what works for you.
For me it’s analog, I’ve even started using a typewriter for my notes!

    uh oh, the Zettelkasten wars!

OK, but in my case, it is the book on notetaking that he refers to derisively that got me here. So there’s also that.

      “Wait, who is Zettel Kasten?”

Now, what if someone wants to pass down their kids/grandkids their physical zettelkasten as the family heirloom? It might be beneficial for them to learn things what you learned without having the to scavenger hunt for knowlegde. But, What if some might not understand those notes you written? Maybe there are other pros and cons of passing down your antinet to the next gen.
This might be an interesting topic to talk about in your next video!

When a zettelkasten is not 'standardized', it might be fun to try to reconstruct how the author used it, as it's been for Luhmann's aficionados. Obviously the content will be very specific to the author, narrowed down to their field of interest. Without a shared interest it won't be easy to stay motivated and follow through with the reconstruction.

That How to Take Smart Notes Book was such trash! hundreds of pages of the same thing over and over, more confusing each time he said it. I finally threw it across the room after putting toothpicks in my eyes to keep them open and still not succeeding in finishing that nonsense. You are literally the only one I have found who actually USES a zettelkasten and has done source research and clearly explain how it really works. lol

Thanks for the video Scott! So you're creating your main note cards WHILE you're reading the book and not waiting until the end to go back through your bib card?

You doing great stuff Scott. You made the antinet so simple. Smart not book is only good for colecting dust.
