As someone who needs to change his 2010 corolla vent door actuator, every video I see of something like this gives me confidence. Watching further, I guess it's the mode actuator. When I turn my vent knob, it's stuck. I hope it's not broke broke.
My 2014 every mode seems to work but defrost won't. Mode actuator looks like it's functioning fine. Any idea if I can get to defrost flap when I remove actuator or idk ? Awesome video thanks.
@isthebeeflol yes, if you remove the actuator for the mode, you should see that it controls 2 doors, one will be the defrost. It probably just became misaligned.
I enjoyed your video. I have a 2016 iM with climate control stuck on the face vent mode. I removed the glove box and it appears that the large driven gear came off as you explained here. Thanks to you, I am more comfortable removing the blower assembly to access for repair. I was just wondering if you could explain why you think the gear came off and what you did to keep the gear from popping off again.
@MikeHike100 those gears are all just plastic and they come with some grease on them so they move nice and smooth, sometimes they get dry and start to bind up and they'll just pop off. A little bit of fresh grease in the grooves will help them to slide around without binding. The mode actuators often turn multiple doors, they have to all move smoothly together, one gets dry or jammed, it will cause it to pop off.
I installed a new actuator on my 2015 corolla. From what you are saying here is I need a mode actuator further back, assuming the 15 model is the same as the 16.
When replacing the temperature actuator, is there a correct way to align the gears? Because the new actuator and old actuator are in different positions
@ ok that’s what I was thinking but when I plug in the new actuator it just re homes itself to the same position and doesn’t adjust when I change temperature. I guess I will have to dig deeper into it
Thank you for your video. We just replaced the mode selector actuator because it was stuck on defrost (windshield). Now, it turns to all modes and works correctly except for defrost. Instead of air coming out near the windshield when on defrost, it comes out from the face vents. Any idea what could be causing this? Thanks for your help.
Hello, thanks for checking out my video. My first guess is that when you put everything back together you may not have gotten the the two individual door cams timed correctly inside the main cam. I hope that makes sense. These are tricky to get lined up correctly, it took me a little while and many attempts on this car to get them to both line up correctly. That would be my first guess, another possible cause, (not likely, but always possible), is the actual door itself is broken inside the unit.
YOU TEACH ABOUT THESE ACTUATORS VERY VERY NICELY, THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR KIND SUPPORT AND TIME.
This video is awesome! Please please repost so people can find it. "Toyota Corolla Blower Assembly Removal"

@BBALLPLAYAFORLIFE you can just plug the electrical connector and adjust the temperature untill the 2 gears line up, before screwing it in.

@BBALLPLAYAFORLIFE yeah, it should definitely move as you change temperature. You may have something else going on with that. Good luck to you

Having the same issue, did you find out what the cause was?

What cau do if the main gear falls off
are you referring to the big gear that controls the mode doors?
