Iron Sights that glow are usually made with a radioactive isotope, hence the glowing. For the history buff part, it's completely possible for them to have make glowing iron sights, making things glow with radioactive isotopes was very popular in the 1900's, this was before they knew radium killed you. So they made clocks, plates, lipstick and even chocolate. So it is completely possible for them to make glowing sights but I have never seen any example of it from WW1.
The sights were adopted in 1916 for pretty much every major player at the time. The sights were clip on or added to the guns with very minimum effort. The major differences between the real sights and the ones in game is that they were a lot chunkier to account for the the big blob of radium paint. This meant that they were not very good at distance shooting. They were also almost all notch sights rather than the ring sight that the game uses.
Battlefield 2042 was also developed during a worldwide pandemic and most of everyone wasn't working in house, it was all done remotely. A task that had not yet been handled by any major studio until then. The maps in Battlefield 2042 are vastly larger than the typical Battlefield map and the design goal wasn't focused on compressed spaces, it's a much cleaner and less war torn look overall and that is by design. The detail is still there and in ways looks even better than any of the previous titles if you know what to look for. They really are all great games.

I agree with the naysayers that it is a little arcadey in terms of shooting physics and other aspects, but that is what makes it good, is it's accessibility to a large community, and it is still technical enough, to be elite in the game vs. the casual, good, and even really good gamers. My grandmother in the 1940's was a line manager for the Bulova watch company during ww2. Her job was to inspect the watches for quality control at the end of the assembly line. I want to play BF1 again god I've missed this
BF1 will always have a place in my heart as my first battlefield game, even though these days BF4 is my favorite
Honestly though I got gamepass and redownloaded bf1 and I’ve been having a blast. The game is just unrivalled imo
How does Jack always make conquest look so action packed and super fun? When we I play this game mode it’s almost always super slow.
Love the videos Jack been a fan for years and your content is always top tier!
One of my favourite ever games, used to play all the time on PlayStation, wish I would play it more often
