What a lovely little stroll. Enjoyed it all - history of the dog mail service, quaint cottages, ivy covered arch gated garden, steps for the horses, the old pumps, knowledgable Martin & his orange sweater... Loved the talk on the brewing from 17th century. I was quite shocked recently to learn (as most of my Mom's ancestors came over in the 1600's) that they all drank ale/beer on the ships. Even the children!!!😮
I really cant see why the RSPA would take any complaint seriously unless dogs were being abused, there are working dogs at the moment in other professions, thanks for the video guys just catching up on a weeks videos :) hey I like Martin's camera work on this
I think my post man would appreciate having a big dog carry his mail bags around the neighborhood. As you said, obviously somebody would complain to the SPCA that the dogs were being abused. So many towns that you photograph look like they came out of a little fairytale book.
It strange they used dogs as a dogs back is not really designed to take weight. The structure of their spines is concave unlike a horse. This would make it easier for them to have disc problems. interesting video with Mr Snow.

I thought the step may have been for getting into a carriage rather than mounting a horse.

There was something quite similar at The Spaniards in Hampstead , London , where allegedly Dick Turpin used to be a frequent visitor.
