  • The Ibanez AZ line is known for loads of innovating features, unless they are signature models where they obviously can deviate from from standard AZ specs. Here we have Josh Smith's model which goes way more traditional than you would expect!

Man, I need one of these. I think that’s the tele I haven’t been able to find.

Nice coincidence I was playing Country/Blues now... With Ibanez at 2th position(pickups)... Nice song btw! Uplifting, energetic.

I have a strong feeling that this signature did not sell well and that’s why Josh has been showcasing the vintage white versions of it. Kind of a shame because he's a great player and what professional guitarist could not use the extra money?

Really good guitar but kinda overpriced imho when you consider what else its out there in today's market.

I keep being surprised manufacturers keep putting unreadable brand names or even logos without letters on their headstocks. You often need to google (very) creatively to get to know the brand name.

    Nice guitar but expensive...
There are some other options to find a good sounding telecaster. And for less money.

I like the black headstock lol I'd still rather play a azs 2209!

Love Josh, love his playing and monter abilities in all aspects of the studio. Don't care for the guitar because of the color and teh body shape. I would have liked to see him go with Fender, the real T people.

You can worry about whats on the headtock while real players go out and get things done.

Im sorry but at $2500 this guitar doesnt make sense. Youre paying more for less features compared to other AZs. I get this is how he specced his guitar and wanted a traditional feel but Fender has all that with more options at a lower price point. Really they should have put this in their Premium line instead of Prestige to get the price down.

It's a different finish process than other guitars. Then you also have to add up the artist's cut. It's not a wild price, especially considering Fender would ask for more than what Ibanez is asking for a vintage-spec'd artist signature Tele.

Especially when you can get a FGN (the factory these are made in) telecaster for 1200 new

I would have to play one of these first, before passing judgement on whether this guitar is worth it on not! Regardles of where this is made, if the artist speced extra attention to playability details on this guitar, a Japanese guitar can be ewual or better than a Fender Custom Shop item! My only gripe is rhat a black guitar with a pure white pickguard is Mehhhh! A black or tortoise guard eould have looked soooo much better, imho.

I ended up getting the AZS2209H for 1500 brand new and think it’s an amazing guitar and one of the best necks I’ve ever played. That said paying full price for this doesn’t seem worth it. If it was priced in the same range as the AZS it would make more sense.

Irony is that FMIC (Fender) now owns Gretsch!

    • @Whiskeyklone
      @Whiskeyklone ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@saarangnarayan123 Gretsch are family owned. It's a common misconception that Fender owns the Gretsch brand. They recently bought Bigsby from Gretsch - they wouldn't need to do that if they owned Gretsch! They have a very close relationship and Fender do their marketing, production, and distribution for them, but they are owned by the Gretsches.

@@Whiskeyklone Is Gretsch owned by Fender?
      Image result for Gretsch
      FMIC control
In late 2002, Gretsch and the Fender Musical Instruments Corporation reached an agreement giving Fender control over marketing, production, and distribution of guitars, with the Gretsch family retaining ownership of the company. ....so in every way but name fender owns them. as for buying the bigsby, gibson owns epiphone outright, buy still has to purchass IP from them on a few things, they are a different company and even though owned by another they still have different books to keep.

    • @typhoonjenkins8330

@@Whiskeyklone In 2002, Gretsch entered a business agreement with Fender Musical Instruments Corporation (FMIC). Under the terms of the agreement Fred W. Gretsch retains ownership while FMIC has the exclusive rights to develop, produce, market and distribute Gretsch guitars worldwide. Gretsch may own the brand, other than that Fender does everything else. What this means is Gretsch family members get a cut from every guitar sold, but have zero input into any other aspect of the guitars. I have to imagine the cut they get is pretty small, since Fender doesn't work for free. I do wonderif Fender paid them a chunk up front as well????
