I loved living in Italy for 3 years but I saw a LOT of Italians didn’t. There are just so many issues. It doesn’t matter who wins an election, they always over promise and in the end won’t be able to stick to that promise. It’s a hard country to manage. I had the idea things were improving under Draghi, but that’s from a personal perspective. I’m sure many Italians will disagree with me
Which government in the world doesn't?
I grew up in Italy, in the 80's prior to the EU. All of Europe was way better then than now.
I last traveled to Europe, Frankfurt, in 2018. I couldn't even leave my hotel room after dark because of the "migrants" harassment.
All of Europe is a shithole. I won't return to it.
Nono, i agree that with draghi things were going better
What exactly was going better with Draghi?

@@asterock_1742 Italy it's already a very auster country. What we produce has been more than what we consume for 20 years now. The balance becomes negative only due to the insane interests on the debt that keep build up
This is what happens when, instead of solving the problems your whole politic views consists in placing the blame of your problems on some strawman and then attacking the strawman.
Facts 😂😂😂. It's easier to talk 😂
Deport. Deport. Deport.
Fear is a much easier tool to burnish than hope, sadly. It's far easier to get people to turn on an "other" than it is to get people to put in the work to collaborate
And then when things go bad in terms of the economy, the straw man is either Germany or the ECB. As usual
Here in Sweden our far right party did the right thing. In the coalition they joined they don't hold any ministerial position. They're only really connected to the government through an agreement setting out their policy goals and they let the major right wing party govern even if they're almost exactly as big as thebiggest right wing party the biggest party (17.5% vs 19.10%). Much smaller parties (6.32% KD and 4.61% L) hold power. It's incredibly unlikely that there will be any blowback from their governments. I'm sure even absurd ideas like that they're still not accepted as a coalition partner by major parties will hold some sway.
They get to govern without the typical political costs that come with governing. They get to say what the right wing government should do on their issues but hold no accountability. If anything goes wrong then they can just say that they would have done better.
In the last political elections, it was a race to "the least worst"... Her opponents were disunited and the PD (the main centre-left party) came up with the campaign "vote for us because we are less worse than her". Not to mention that it is an old political class, distant from reality, from the changeability of the times and often disinterested in young people and anything that could change the status of things. At the end of the day, Italy is beautiful only for those who come to visit it and then return home.

And if I didn't have all the family connections and other things, I probably would have already packed my bags. What country has it become? Italy remained in the 80s and 90s. The ruling and entrepreneurial class still thinks on the model of the economic and real estate boom in an economy that is now stagnant at a global level or even in recession for any country. Talk about what support Sholtz have become he should be at home with that approval.
True, and I find that over promising during the election and not delivering on those promises, only come back to bite them on the arse, we see this in a lot of countries around the world, where a lot is promised to win an election, but once in power, they have to come back down to earth and be more realistic in what's achievable, hence the honeymoon phase that last a year or so until reality kicks in for voters.
The UK is getting the same kind of treatment with Brexit, reality of Brexit is really kicking in now.
Basically, parties should stop overpromising to win elections, whiles at the same time being better at explaining to voters on what needs to be done to get the economy back on track, for good or bad and sometimes hard choices need to be made, especially in hard times, explaining that to voters better, might take some of the sting out of the pain, but the way things are, most voters don't trust what governments say.
Italy are having more trouble than most modern countries because of its high level of corruption, north-south divide and high debt levels, basically, they need major economic reforms in the country to get back on track, something that's probably not easy to do with all the corruption around, but I feel if Italy doesn't do it, they are going to fall further behind other European countries, then many will end up using the EU has the scapegoat just like British voters did, even thought the real problem is more internal than it is to do with the EU, but people will want someone to blame and usually national governments blame the EU even thought most of the problems were created by the national government, Italy and the UK are a prime example of that over the last 15 years.

An Italian government lasts on average a year and a half. We will see
As an Italian, who doesn't like meloni whatsoever, I'm so tired of this continuous cycle of new government that last around 1 year, nobody has the time to do anything, of course we are politically stuck from 20yrs ago
Italy is like a hot potato being tossed around from one leader to another. Instead of focusing on real issues they only scream migration. Why not invest and creat jobs for the younger generation.
The problem dates back to 40 years ago, when we first tried to change the electoral system to make the government less stable. Until 1992 we would have a rapid fire cycle of prime ministers, but a consistent centrist or centre-left government. (Mind you, I didn't even like DC.) The overall approach by the government would remain consistent for around a decade and this gave the governments time to work. We ourselves moved towards less stability and a more personality driven politics, a mincemeat with no ideologies or ideals.
So you are like a typical californian who doesn’t like the Conservative Party and keep voting for the side that keeps ruining things and making it worse…

Because she's an Italian politician, and no matter what side they're on and what their policies are, this always seems to happen?
This is the definitive answer.
Even if I thought her policies were great,I would totally expect this to happen. Italian politics basically are an infinite loop of voting for someone because the other one did nothing, and then the someone doing nothing and being replaced by yet another one.

Italy is the Argentina of Europe. Lots of positives and possibilities but corruption and politicians who do not understand economics will always bring it down .
The problem started from south Italy. Northern part has a good economy, but unfortunatly not for long time..
That’s why their both similar in economic problems, especially Argentina. Most Argentinians, love to brag how much more European they are. Especially, how their off Italian descent.

The italians are the problem, italian politics is just the reflex of the italian disontrested behavior in their future
The concept of mafia (ndrangheta, mafia, camorra) is also really important, since has corrupted a good 60% of the entire political scene.
Like all right-wing populists, she promised quick and simple answers to complex questions. The causes of large scale population movements are many and varied and, as we've learned in the UK "stopping the boats" as a policy, just doesn't work.
In a TLDR way:
Reality strikes back against Meloni
If stopping the boats were that easy Indians would have easily stopped British East India company.
You could look at it that way, but also Italians like throwing out their leaders after one term.
Why doesn't stopping the boats work? It works here in Asia. What's stopping you from, you know, enforcing laws as they are. It's really simple: you want to come to Italy, do it legally. Why is this such a strange concept to you?
If the quick and simple answers were possible previous governments would have done it already.
Voters should realize that one person cannot solve their problems. It's a team effort and you need different people with different sets of skills and knowledge to solve different problems that could interconnect.
It is her job to gather those teams.
i get the impression that a large part of the electorate, and especially pensioners, do think that one man can be the saviour and resolve all the problems of the world - especially if they have no political program and little or no experience in politics - depending on the demographics of your cpuntry residence you are doomed
she's not ruling alone, she has Ministers, it was her choice to pick incompetent or straight up criminal ones.

Honestly, living in Italy I don't think Meloni's popularity is failing.
As a first point, it must be said that she has never been popular (in the last elections only 64% of voters voted, and Meloni's party took only 25% of the votes).
As a second point, it must be considered that opposition parties are less popular than government parties.
The distrust that Italians have in political parties is certainly the most popular thing in Italy.
People who don't vote don't count.
In Germany the same !!!
Well, if you don’t think so, then it must be true!
25% of voters sound like a lot to me. In the Netherlands the biggest party only got 25% of the voters.
@@Churros1616 well, 36.1% of Italians did not go to vote, and 1.7% voted blank ballot... it had never happened in Italian democratic history.

Wut? Last time you made a video about her ''popularity'' she was at -1 approval rating and now she's at -3 according to the same poll you used last time from Morning Consult Pro. Sure it's a dip but certainly not one I find important enough to make a video over. She still remains the most popular politicians in the EU by far. Which is kind of pathetic mind you but to be fair, politicians seems to be getting more unpopular everywhere.
A national poll made public literally yesterday showed that if we were to vote today, her party would get 29%. That's 3% more than a year ago when Fratelli d'Italia came up as the most voted party in Italian elections. 29% is a 0,3% growth over the 28,7% of last week polls by the same pollsters, which was a growth over the previous week on its own. At this time, I would not have expected this video!
This is even less noteworthy when you consider the fact that literally any politician’s popularity will slowly decline over the course of their term

It's not impossible. Deploy the navy and stop being a vassal for U.S. open borders policy. Very easy. The problem is the lack of action not the concept of stopping illegal immigration into your country. Now if you mean the promises are impossible because no politician especially a girl is going to stand up to the status quo; then yeah I agree. But the act itself is very simple
Yep, it reminds me of the Conservative Party in the UK that overpromised on Brexit and now are very unpopular because they can't deliver on what they promised.

They should not promise anything before the election otherwise face jail

This is when Far right governments find out that governing isn't just saying what's popular

This is more of a populist issue than a far-right issue. Latin America has been dealing with this kind of incompetence for decades regardless of the left-right divide.

To tell the truth, Giorgia Meloni's popularity, after the latest polls this Monday, has been rising and has remained stable since the elections, always around 30%
Party popularity and leader popularity are two very different things.

As always EU blocking everything decent.
0:49 sardinia: aight imma head out 😩🖐️
It was clear from the beginning.
Immigration is a topic bigger than the EU.
She had no hope.
I disagree, its bigger than individual nations that are part of EU. Change needs to be done on EU level. One nation cant make change if the rest of EU doesnt follow. Where else (higher level) you would deal with it? UN? It doesnt have any power. EU and only EU can solve EU immigration issues, problem is EU is made out of many nations with very different politics - EU should stay economic pact and maybe have schengen area for free travel, thats it. Not this United States of Europe thing.
She could easly stop it
@nonradicalnationalist6608 no, not with the naval blockade, as illegal immigrants arrive by boat from the sea and are considered shipwrecked and, by international law, it is a duty to assist them and give them refuge, on pain of retaliation and various embargoes by the international community. Minister Salvini tried this two years ago, now he is on trial in Italy.
How? Just deploy the navy and dont let a living soul into your country. How is that so hard???
@@AlFreeman-xy4jy Then don't let the ships arrive in the first place
2:05 Where did Sardinia go lol??
She needs to take in ideas about migration from wherever possible and really do what she can. It's not a border issue, and pointing to the EU won't be enough.
She needs to take them then to Germany like Germany is paying to get Italy loaded. They want to save lifes? Perfect, I ams superhappy, but then their must take them in Germany or whatever country that wants them, or even Brussels, or take them back where they came from.
Sending money to Tunisia to keep people there sounds like a reverse hostage situation.
Why is Italy always deadlocked politically anyway?
because they are too passionate talking but cold at working
Because Italians don't want to face reality: the economy path repeatedly voted in the last 40 years is suicidal and the country would need to go in the complete opposite direction from a cultural, social and economical standpoint. However Italians think to be the best in the world and can't admit that the country is fucked up (the lowest numeracy scores in the "western" world don't help on this). Hence it's easier to blame the current politician and vote for the next one selling impossible things; then those promises being impossible aren't fulfilled and the circle repeats.
As an Italian American, I can see why my family left.
America has been always the promised land.
It also depends when your ancestors left to America. Italy has had a lot of emigration waves. I have Italian heritage too with extended family in New Jersey and Rhode Island… but live in London

Meloni is what Braverman would be like if she was UK Prime Minister. Basically, an all talk, no action politician who blames outside events for her failure to act.
Anyone surprised? Meloni won with her one liner: I am Giorgia, I am a mother, I am a Christian. All very nice but that doesn't mean you're any good at understanding how to tackle the migration problem or support the economy. As anyone could have predicted before Meloni became prime minister she is not up to it.
Guess taking Mussolini as an role model, doesn't, magically and for some strange reason, translate into a compentent goverment
exactly! Talking up your competence while not being confronted with the realities of governing is pretty easy. Now they are facing reality and they too fail at the problems more competent people were unable to solve. What a surprise.

But ofc. Giorgia needs to organize their transport to Brussels and Germany but very low key and in a way that italian government couldn't get in the trouble and let them deal with them. Italy if doesn't want inmigrants, just needs to have 100% capitalistic state and 0% socialistic (or as low as possible). It will work, they will go Sweden, France, Germany and other big socialist states. And ofc, if they again want to repart immigrants per states Italy will always be backed with Poland (even Denmark) and Hungary on this one. She just needs to do it.. well, not publically like DeSantis did. Like if Germany have the boats that save them(that is fine) but then bring them to Italy (they should then go to Germany with them) sure that italians can arrange their tansport to Germany, with love.

You forgot to add the islands of Sardinia and Corsica!
She gave her word...in any case of illegal invasion on their Islands, she be sending the italian navy..instead she called for help from Brussels..she lied to her own
No she was talking about a european naval blockade before the election
She could only do this if she would be willing to break the law and soldiers would be willing to do so as well, police not intervening, and so on. It's a promise made for dummies and uninformed people. The only thing that might work is creating places where refugees are safe, which are outside the EU, and then deport them there. Also, making it as unattractive as possible to stay, to have children, to get citizenship, and so on. For example, let them pay for everything, give them debt, including the children, as soon the are 18 and need anything from the public services. Not based on their legal status, but on the fact that they didn't pay a certain amount of taxes and their parents didn't as well. Something like that.
I would really love a deep dive video on why migration keeps on continuing all while it's too much for a lot of countries. Who keeps this ongoing and why?
The world leaders keep this on going. The reason is that they must destroy europe. In Africa they have 24h 7 days/week tv shows showing how beautiful and developed Europe is, to convince them to come
It's pretty easy. People want to live somewhere better, and that becomes more acute during a crisis. Europe failing to respond to the Syrian crisis meant a new wave of refugees, foot-dragging on climate change means flooding and failed harvests, which means new waves of refugees.
It's a mix of things and in all of those things Europe has played quite a large part in, from getting involved in the Libyan civil war and Syrian civil war, causing the wars to spiral into never ending civi conflicts, backing despots who tried to emulate European colonial governments untill the despot died/fell in a civil war and the nation never recovered from it, Europe by en large has stayed quite stable and rich while the rest of the world has remained in flux, this has caused people who naturally want peace/stability and safety to flee towards the places who have that and who offer it to the people running away from their ruined states, however due to the never ending conflict their is an never ending amount of people fleeing. EU nations have used this to attack eachother or point fingers at eachother and play a blame game, rather than actually try to fix/solve the issues that's causing the people to flee in the first place.

It's just a function of collapsing Empires. I'm not exactly sure what causes it. the U.S. and it's client states in Europe all face the same problem as the Roman Empire. Barbarians came into Rome and messed things up. Idk why it happens. Some theories are: underpopulation. In collapsing Empires; women give up on having kids and have tons of abortions; so the only way(in their eyes) to stabalize the situation is to import a bunch of randoms into the country. That's my most likely theory. Unfortunately for them thugh; the same society eroding cankerous liberal ideas that killed our society is being imported to the countries that we're getting migrants from. What happens when those societies also stop having kids?
Fascinating that from reading the comments many parallels can be drawn with the UK gvt.
Which leads to me think Italy’s problems are generic / thematic / universal (as opposed to specifically Italian).
I have just been to Italy and the number of immigrants begging on the streets is insane....
I hope they can solve this issue.
I'm Italian and I can tell you that Meloni is still, by far, the strongest leader here in the country. When you start to govern, a decline in people's appreciation is absolutely physiological. Meloni, however, still has all the conditions to be able to govern for 5 years (which is absolutely rare here in Italy) and to finally be able to solve the problem of government instability through a reform that tends towards presidentialism.
She is a puppet of the World Economic Forum, fool. She is not going to help or save your country.
Gotta slash that social security for her voters some more lol😂
Setting aside the abysmal chances that a constitutional amendment will pass, presidentialism is gonna "solve" the government instability issue at the cost of some democratic representation. It's an imperfect fix that's perfectly good for a politician with authoritarian tendencies.
lol ok we will see
>implying she won't f..k up the economy like Berlusconi did in 2008 and we'll end up with another technocrat in 2024.
About migration, there is a very old story that you can see here below. Good luck if we are thinking of stopping the migrants in this way. Honestly, I do t see any good solutions unless we go back to 91.
About Living in Italy, we had a fantastic 80' and now those years are just a dream. Please check the salary average in Europe for the last 10 years (Italy). You will find one of the tickets to understand this country.
The 80s were the start of the Italian collapse. At least according to any single metrics. Then if you prefer to live with what the former socialist party (which then ironically became Berlusconi's) propaganda always says, then it's up to you. But in the world of reality and numbers the 80s were the years when Italy sold his future condemning the generations of those born after 1980 to poverty
Politician’s popularity declines? Who would have thought.
The thing is she's only been in power for a little more than a year.

It really isn't that complicated. You do not let anyone in. Prevent illegal boats from entering your territory.
Italy isn't alone. It appears these days that voters in most western nations appear to prefer the comforting lie to the unvarnished truth. Politicians, especially on the right have caught onto this. So they pander to it with populist promises they either can't or never had any intention of keeping once in power. I put it down to ageing populations. They tend to look back on their younger days through rose coloured specs and will vote for politicians who play on their fears of crime, immigration, social changes etc and promise to miraculously bring those days back and restore the nation to whatever vision they had of it. On top of this they won't have to lift a finger or alter their lives in any meaningful way for it to happen. Of course it's all rubbish. No nation lives in a vacuum, especially smaller ones like Italy. They have to conform to the world around them whether they like it or not.
