3:10 I understand that for this configuration of having the filter on top you are supposed to use an oil filter with an anti-drain back valve in it. That keeps oil in the filter. The one you are using if when the filter is under the car. The wrong filter may cause your engine to die prematurely for oil starvation on start-up.
From what I learned, the ADBV’s purpose is to prevent backwash of media and contaminants from going back in your engine, not to hold oil into the filter. The oil system is under pressure, so unless you have a lack of oil, what you described isn’t occurring. (At least that’s how I understand it. Correct me if I’m wrong. I’m here to learn as well)
You have put new oil filter, without lubricate the seal with oil. Good luck then :) that’s way you have the burned rubber on the place there the seal touch the oil filter placement. It is seen on the record.
No, just 5.1 quarts or 6.9 quarts depending on the liter size of your engine. Make sure to look at the beginning of the video when I show the manual to explain the details. Thanks for asking
I did not realize the oil plug was so easy to get at. Now I’m inspired to change my own oil. Great video!
You got this! One of my fav cars to change oil on

Thanks for your video! How often to you replace the oil plug gasket/seal?
We are 100,000 miles in and have never used one. We do not have any type of oil leak issues.
Awesome. Good to see before attempting on my 2017
Happy to help! You got this

Thanks dude! Helped a lot!
Amazing video, thank you man
Isn’t supposed to be 1 quarts after you put whole 5 quarts ?

Do not use a 9/16 to remove the drain plug. The correct tool is a 17mm.
Google 2019 Subaru Outback oil drain plug and it states 17mm.
It is 14 mm on my vehicle or 9/16. I have the smaller engine though. That could explain the difference
