really enjoy watching other people going through these peoples mistakes as well. next deal I come across on marketplace I will record like this you inspired me to make a video
Some people are dummies bro. I had a 18 yz450 a couple weeks ago same issue. Kid built it in a sand pit. Like they drag the piston around in the dirt then put it in.
Classic case of a guy who fixes old cars buying a high end performance machine and not understanding you can't just cobble it together with general automotive knowledge, leftover parts and a cylinder hone.
@abpob6052 yeah guy i got it from worked on ranch quads/4 wheelers. I also get a ton of bikes from "diesel techs" and the motors they wrenched on are always a disaster.
Man, to be able to get a nice bike like this because you have the know-how to fix it. Guess like anything thing you just need to put in the time. Awesome bike!
Been wrenching on bikes for 13 years. Self taught. The dunning-kruger effect is real with learning about engine and suspension building. The more i worked with them the first few years the more I realized i knew nothing. I felt fully proficient across all makes and models after about year 8
I get a discount on parts through my business so all in all with the valve springs, new cylinder, new gaskets and fluids and whatnot, including driving 8 total hours to buy and sell i was in the bike about 1740 total
Just wondering... but did you notice the valve that you zoomed in on at about the 13:00 min mark has a huge chunk of the head missing from the valve channel..??? i would flush the entire engine. I would gurantee that atleast one of the valves broke while the bike was running full tilt.. new head and cylinder and piston and rings and ect ect ect... good price for the bike overall though. I wish you luck!!
@shawnunderwood8023 yeah i did and from that point it could only make it into the ignition cover/stator area, I pulled and searched but I assume the guy before me found and removed it. I filmed this in July and the bike has quite a few hours on it now and rips like a champ

hey man i got a 2016 yz250 as well but i got no spark, i was wondering if you had a oem ignition coil or aftermarket on that, and if its aftermarket whats the part #
@JuniorJones-h4q yz250 2 stroke? Or yz250f like mine in the video? Assuming yz250f. Ebay will have what you need, just search the year and the part. You may do some resistance testing on the electronics to see what is bad (stator, coil, rectifier, bad grounds etc) if you haven't already and then go from there.
@ got a 99 Yz 250 did a top end rebuild cylinder was 5mm out of spec then a Crf 250 r that was supposedly bored to 280 but it wasn’t and piston was installed backwards waiting on parts parts rn
@MotoBuilds he'll yeah. I'm 37 now, but my father and I have been collecting dirt bikes since I was in middle school. He still travels around and buys rollers and parts bikes and sometimes full bikes. We got around 60 mx bikes now. About 10 are raceable tho. Bikes like an 83 cr250, 77 yz250, 86 cr125, 03 kx125, 87 kx500, 96 yz260, 99 yz, 250 and a couple others are in really nice shape
@rztrzt surprisingly the crankcases were spotless, looks like top end was left open and I flushed off camera to be safe. I build many many many bikes a year and if I see any debris in the crankcases I pull and split them. Bike has quite a few hours now and is a ripper.

Nice Vid man, how Long did it take you to get such a knowledge and knowhow?

@ Thank u very much
Awesome man! Dont you risk floating a valve when using steel valves?
Yes because they are heavier. That’s why he asked about the stiffer springs.
You do if you dont match to the appropriate springs. I replaced these stock ones with Pro X stainless rated springs.
Great video man
Glad you enjoyed!
should try and get your hands on a yamaha banshee! they are bad ass i have one and the power is wicked
👍👍👍👍more of this!
@w1llu More on the way!

I wonder if this thing got hydro locked
Nah, head had no warpage, nice and flat mating surfaces. guy just slapped the top end together improperly.
1k is crazy, in germany that‘s like 3k
@mika.549 this typically is about a 3500 bike here in the US in good running condition.
Wish u woulda held chains up side by side... Nice bike🔥🍻🤙🏴☠️
Timing chains? They ended up being the same haha, I just ended up using a new one anyhow
Make longer videos explaining everything like 2vintage. I like the content tho keep it up.
