    I believe that the reason that so many savages were done on the 1600E base was because the E had the Lotus type suspension. It also had the "luxury interior, so you had the perfect combination of power, handling and comfort for the petrolhead with money. Ford made the mistake of not making a factory-built 3000E Cortina, but it would've stolen sales from the
    3 litre Capri.

    I saw that car some years ago at the NEC, sadly quite badly damaged at the rear after an accident taking it off the trailer I believe. Obviously now repaired and looking as good as ever. I suspect finding the parts was more difficult than the actual repair. CAN is the best Savage I have seen to date, its level of detail is so impressive.

    The perfect Q car of it's day. The only outside visible signs of it's conversion was the V6 badge on the boot and the special edition wheels. Otherwise, outwardly it looked like any other 1600E. Perfection!

      Didn't some of them have a bonnet vent ?
      I'm sure I've seen 2 different types on genuine cars.

      Thankyou for watching Horse. Yes it is a pity that the engine cannot be featured predominantly. The important features of this video was to feature the visual appearance of the car and set the compilation to the chosen sound track. We did turn up the engine soundtrack as much as possible in certain parts of the clip but were unwilling to rev the engine unnecessarily or speed this fantastic car. The weather was very warm and everything would get hot very quickly.
      Happy new year to you 🎉

    The music belongs with Kelly's heroes let's hear that engine😊

    • @coptaview
      @coptaview  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks Chris. You are correct the music belongs to Kelly’s Hero’s. However it wasn’t the right time to rev the engine enough to create the sounds you are looking for. Instead the whole point of the clip was to present the car to the desired Kelly’s Hero’s sound track. There is a little engine burble present if you review the video. Thanks for watching 👍

    Is that an original South African variant?

    • @brianclaridge7695
      @brianclaridge7695 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, a company called Race Proved built these in the 60s. They were based in Hanwell, London and run by a chap called Jeff Uren.

      Hi Phil
      No.. The South African version was built by Basil Green and called the Perana..

      @@coptaview thanks for the reply. I had a 1600 E cortina 3 litre converted by a company called crayford it was basically the same as the savage. Beautiful fast car. In white. Quick of the lights but no top end. I had the engine modified by burton engineering to 200 bhp. The reg no was SDF 100 H I don’t know if it’s still on the road. I sold it 30 years ago. I knocked the gearbox out twice in a month so I got rid of it. Looked like a normal 1600 E. except for the bigger Dunlop alloys. I think the firm only made two of them but made about 400. convertible cars.
