Hi Dobby, you might have missed but at 6:22, after the trade with Singed and K'Sante, he uses his W on the minion instead to fast kill it and get lvl 6 so that he can heal and use Ult to try and kill K'sante.
i use this build since last year and it works so well

This build has always been the build for Volibear, EXCEPT, for one thing, which separates Thisisbear from every other volibear.
Every Volibear who goes this build always mistakenly builds Nashor's tooth 1st or 2nd (me included).
And that's their biggest mistake.
I have noticed that throughout the video, Thisisbear has never built Nashors once and has instead rushed hullbreaker then a tanky item.
This is vital to deciding how much volibear can apply pressure sidelaning, while 1v2 or 1v3.
On first glance, Nashors looks amazing, and obviously so, cause of how well it synergizes with volibear's AA and LT stacking.
But the problem with that item is that it makes you so squishy, that any 1v2 or 1v3s become impossible to win. Without resistances, volibear cant even hope to stack LT or Empowered W.
That isn't to say full Ap voli is bad, its just that once you build nashors, you become limited to 1v1s only and pushing towers with huge risk of dying to 1v2+.
So Full Ap Voli is a low elo stomper, but thisisbear's build is much much better for higher levels of play.
And with this new found knowledge, I shall use it to climb 😈

Like most of the melee dashless champions, your kit has a lot of dmg by itself, so 1st and 2nd item with defensive stats lets you survive getting to the opponent allowing your kit to do the rest.
(Surviving till you get 2nd skill rotation >>> Building to Nuke someone in All In)
whether it's a good or bad thing, I feel like Voli is in the Ez and Udyr category. Every time I see a new volibear build it's entirely different from the last one and just as viable. Wild champs

I mean i love how some champions can build whatever they like and it still works ... shaco katarina shivana udyr voli kog ect... even rengar to some extent (we got a tank rengar in worlds finals a few years back if i remeber properly)

Things i noticed:
When XinZhao engages on him at min 4:15 he saves his Q to the last second because he knows he wins the all-in. So, if he throws it at start of combo, (usually it's the most optimal because you secure the E dmg and can add the W on top of the animation ) then Xin Zhao can just walk or flash away and leave. Instead he saves the Q for 2 reassons, first to kill Xin Zhao in the Stun, so he can't leave. And seconds to do more dmg since you usually have the Last Stand runes that makes you deal more dmg the lower your heal is. So you have to chose between throw everything at first and quite for cooldowns if you know you can have another rotation, or just save it for the last moment to deal the maximum possible dmg.
This dude is so insane at it. He knows exactly that if he throws the W at first, he will have one more W at the end of the all-in, but he dosnt do it with Q (because cd is bigger).
Also he so good using ultimate to buffers cc. For ejemple if Jax press E and jumps on you to insta stun you, you can use ultimate so the time of the stun and the time you are jumping is the same, so you don't lose any time stuned.
I noticed too, and I do the same. I’m the most aggressive player on the planet, and I always hold both e and q and dance/disrespect to bait them to keep fighting, then I e first and WAIT, (I have watched trick2g and 100 other players do this incorrectly) you have towait such a long time the kill is secured during stun. So they don’t flash away especially under turret.
So I spam w e q, and when the enemy is within lethal, I kill through the element of surprise. I have killed god knows how many jungles this way. This guy is 1000x better than me, but that gimmick, I have that figured out perfectly.
My play style is very diferent. I usually play to extend to the maximum the fights. For example instead of do the E Q Ulti combo i use the habilities to run and way for my W cd. For example E for slow and shield, Q to run away and Ulti to run away.
I don't build any AP, i build full tank max cdr.
So for example instead of ult the enemy to deal 400+ dmg. I ult away to get back my W and heal for 400+ heal and deal 200+ dmg. So i end up winning 200 dmg on that trade off. Ofc depends in the situation, enemy cds, hp left of both, etc. But i like keeping alive under 35% hp all the time i can so i can deal insane dmg with last stand, graps, sunfire and frozen guantelet.

I've done this Volibear thing last week, beat laning phase, build AP, going split push but not doing so well as in the late game, hopefully this video helps for me

@@moonage_ You die in a matter of seconds in the late game teamfights. Volibear isn't tanky in general and with this build you basically have no resists outside of sidelane until 3 items. This is a god like split push build, but you're kind of useless in a fair team fights until about 4 items, which is like 30 minutes. Even this player usually TPs to team fights to clear them out or gets to them before the fight to get a pick. He tries to avoid fair straight up 5v5 as much as possible.
@@LuckyGnom regular tank or bruiser voli is also bad in late game teamfights. his Q and W are single-target, his shield isnt as durable as other juggernauts, and his ult has a low AoE.
atleast with AP you scale as a split pusher.

What I finally understood after watching all of these vids, is any champion can make you chall if you master it, instead of trying all these builds whenever vid releases you should either pick one to follow trough or find your own, got from low plat to d1 with xin top from this channel. Thanks!
That's true, but people build wrong without knowing it. I built Nashor's on Voli for ages and I knew that I was squishy as hell but kept along with it since it's the popular build and he does stupid damage if he doesn't get CC'ed into oblivion. Videos like this make me realize that my gut instinct was right and I should stop building it and go more tanky for a more reliable build.

Volibear has been decent ever since his buffs a few patches ago. It’s just that not a lot of people cared or don’t know his limits well enough hahaha

The amount of ranged top is really alarming over there huh
Honestly, ranged toplaners aren't nearly as big of an annoyance nowadays as they used to be. They're pretty easy to deal with and aren't even that oppressive in lane with the abundance of ways to counter them.
Specific counterpicks are still awful to deal with, but that's irrelevant of range.
@@distraction2803yeah but it's annoying when they chip down your hp while they're being safe,then they make you unable to play the game,which is very frustrating for average toplaner,you want to play the game but you just can't because you'll either die or be on low hp majority of laning phase
@@overstimulatedboy01 start dshield+second wind and rush steelcaps (and warden's if you want to be doubly safe), and suddenly they're the one that can't play the game.
Bruisers can just close the gap and kill them if they ever overstep and snowball like crazy, and tanks are near impossible for them to kill and get a free pass to scale into late game.
@@distraction2803 yeah right that's so irrelevant of range that thoses ranges dominate the meta winrate wise. Before they used to be skill reliant and that's why they had such a low winrate, but now riot has made either their kit/runes/items broken which made them easy to play and still completly broken, it's like how can you ever say that when a cassio has no problem winning melee agaisnt any melee character when she has the advantage of range ? the reality is that ranges top have never ever been that broken and that's why they start to be played in competitive (e.g : cassio, quinn, swain, kennen, gnar, jayce) we never had such a variety of range top, it used to be only gnar kennen and jayce and the only reason they're not more played is because other ranged character (marksman) dominate again the meta so tanks have to be played top in order to compensate for a marksman adc + otften a marksman/hyper carry mid.

The Jax matchup is unwinnable in the late game but in the early game your E is really strong against Jax.
The Timo matchup is also unwinnable
@@sogeking_479 It's unwinnable in the late game since Teemo Q has no cd and the duration is extended. In the early game it's also a horrible matchup since he just kites you so hard, but in the mid game it's at least a semi winnable matchup since Teemo can't Q your W you can bait him to use his Q and if it's down you can win trades pretty hard (if you have frozen gauntlet).
the other way around for me jax early if he is good can't allow you to trade him back but once you tank he can't kill you or bully you anymore
Iceborn + Cosmic Drive with Lethal Tempo is also an insane build trust

Is it a good idea to build nashors on volibear if I want some extra damage or skip it and go hullbreaker instead?
Good idea for some matchups, I usually rush it against Irelia to win early 1v1 and put her behind, or against some tanks like orn.
But if you are maxing W never rush it, just go hull for the hp and ad W scalings

It's easier to execute this strategy using fleet footwork and timing the speed and Q for a guaranteed stun
