Bus tickets in Kaunas are valid until you reach the end of line (no time limit) and you can also change a bus once for free if you do it in 30 minutes or less. The Žiogas app is counting time until you won't be able to change a bus for free and not the time left for your trip.
In Vilnius the bus tickets are valid either for 30 or 60 minutes and if that time runs out while you're in the bus you'll have to buy a new ticket.
So in Kaunas you can buy a ticket ride one bus, then change the bus after 29 minutes and then you will be able to ride to the end of line. And it will cost you only 70 cents.

Should definitely visit Kaunas. For cost of having a good time in Vilnius, speaking as someone not living in LT; it is soooo affordable!!!

Hi Amarachi, thank you for your videos. I currently live and work in South Africa and I will be visiting Vilnius for just 5 days. I am looking for someone who can actually show me around. I would also love to meet you in person. Your kind response would be appreciated. Thanks.

It's a nice review of both of these cities. As I'm Lithuanian and I was lucky to have lived in both cities, I couldn't agree with more, by saying if you want calm life better to choose province, such as Kaunas. Or speaking about the education Kaunas has few universities but I'm not sure whether they are better rated or recognized than Vilnius has to offer. From my perspective, as coming from even smaller town than these two cities and after torturous staying in Kaunas, I would never say anything good about this town, it was my dellusion if I get moved to Kaunas it would feel big city vibe, though again I was wrong so much. What actually helped me to suffer less was occassional trip to the capital, where generally speaking you're able to recharge your batteries and have a nice party/cultural events, and as the Amarachi said people in the capital are more used to diverse people, which is totally opposite in Kaunas, where significatn part of population is Lithuanian and I'd need to say it is boring/ugly. On rare occassion you'd be able to find something interesting and fun to do. Thus, to sum up, Kaunas is a boring place, sometimes unbearable and equal to torture, but on the other hand in this ugly town you're able to get your degree easier, therefore get things done before evacuating it, while Vilnius it's much more than the city with the good vibe, it's a progressive, cultural, educated & best city to live in Lithuania, where you'll find anything you'd want from city life.
