I got this kit for Christmas and i'm also at this stage. I have all the electronics installed and i'm planning on painting it similar to the 2018 McLaren orange and blue F1 car. Can't wait to see yours!
Glenn, those tire decals really make the car look like the real F1 cars of today. For a while it was really hard to get these in Canada so when they became available I had to get it. I was so impressed also and loved the build so much I bought a second one. Looking forward to seeing it done...but I think I already have, and it looks a m a z i n g my friend. 😉😉
@@TAMIYALegends the motor housing, rearaxle, and ball diff look so very similar to the F103. I ended up getting the F103 and F103GT front ends and chassis flx bits to try different setups.
It looks really cool and I am sure once the body is on there it is going to be super cool!! The Tyrrell P34 has a similar set up to the rear, not all the cool blue bits but same setup. It work really well! That is a car you should have as well! I really love the look of the 6 wheeler!
Before today and watching your video I never would have considered an F1 RC build. Can't wait to see what you choose to do with the body in part 2. Cheers!
Also Glenn, a few companies make “2022 updates” to the F104. Basically, it makes the F104 look like a 2022/2023 F1 car. I think Exotek have one. You do have to buy everything separately but the larger “modern” F1 style wheels and 2022 aero definitely update the F104 and TRF F1 chassis. As far as paint goes, perhaps reach out to Modelsport and see if they can ship some stickers out to you to put onto the car and go box art with it. I think it would be more special that way by tying your love of RC into your own history. Nothing against the Star & Flame graphics but I think if you have too much of the same design in your collection, it’s going to drive you mad.
About halfway with mine Glen I've seen some other vid's on the build and on the front arms the screw is set the same as yours, when I get that far I'll try a shorter screw. P/S your build is the best I've seen so far, thanks brother, Ralphie
I think it would look absolutely incredible in the same livery as you did your Christmas lunch box give away. Another awesome build Glenn really enjoyed it.. I know whichever shell design you go with it will look awesome..take care mate keep going..👍🇬🇧😎
There is alot of raw carbon fibre on this years f1 cars. Ive seen videos on "dipping" real car parts to give a carbon look. Im not sure if it works on the smaller stuff. But the McLaren comment seems like a winner
Those F1 chassis' are superb bits of kit, I've never had one but I would be temped if I had somewhere to race it. I can't wait to see the bodyshell finished, I'm sure whatever colour scheme you choose will be awesome👍👍
Superb build Glenn, i may look into adding one myself ? There’s nothing worse than deciding how to paint the shell. But im looking forward to seeing how it turns out 😎
It’s been on my list for ages but oos here in the U.K. . Think I’d go Ferrari red . And the tires aren’t foam ? Goodness knows where I’ll run it though 😂
Carbon chassis and carbon axel would be a nice upgrade if someone does them ...looks like an enjoyable build Glenn . Looking forward to seeing this one run 😎👌🔥🔥🔥 also the shell turned out really nice like what you done with it suits the car 😜👍
I was driving one of these and ran over a nail at full speed, it punched all the way through the thickest part of the carbon floor and took two of us a great deal of effort to pull it out. The amount of force that must have taken is insane. 😂
Wow...finally discovered a chassis kit that appears to be even easier to build than the venerable TT-02...lol The rear suspension is 'interesting', because it's, essentially, the same as the rear suspension design on 2WD Mini-Z cars.
Glenn, I know this is Tamiya Legends and not the other channel but… You’re lacking a genuine drift car in your collection! Currently building an MST RMX 2.0 “Classic” kit and even though it’s NOT a Tamiya kit, it’s very much LIKE Tamiya in the way you build it. Funny thing is, MST sell most of their RTR and ATR kits with Tamiya bodies so you can put MST bodies on any Tamiya chassis and as stated, Tamiya bodies on MST chassis. RWD drift may not be your thing but if you do decide to get one, the MST would be my choice as stated above, even if you only build a rolling display piece.
carbon is nice on some stuff, but prefer Tamiya FRP, F1, might be taking a sort of hold, you know a brake from all the TT02 stuff, watching your old stuff, plenty of content, keep coasting, no problem with that, sleeper chassis folks will be looking for when it goes away
Dude, I had a gt motor in a 101 or 102 they're difficult to control. You let off the throttle.and the thing spun out. Real interesting to drive. Apparently the silver can is plenty power because the older f1 cars was a direct drive or something etc
Glen as much as I like those star decals that u have done on some of ur other cars. I know my opinion doesn't hold a candle among all the other comments that I'm sure u will get. I think a pearl blue with it broken up with some platinum silver. Then u add some some red Tamiya legends decals to it maybe a few of those chrome Tamiya decals which I'm pretty sure u still have left. Just think of those color combo's. But I'm asking. Please don't go with the star burst decals again. Not that it looks bad at all on ur buggies. But I just can't picture it on an F1. Or Google some real F1 cars from around the same yr that kit is from. See what stands out. But either way u decide to go im behind u 1000% and u need to hurry and get that video out to us before the weekend is over👍
Why is it Tamiya continues to equipped their rc vehicles with brushed motor, whereas, nowadays, brushless system is the preferred in the majority in stock set up?

Thanks Keith 😅
