In TF2 there is a rocket launcher that deals zero damage. It was immediately declared OP as it allowed the user to rocket jump like fiends and steal flags with impunity.
One unknown TF2 fact is that it used to look like the regular rocket launcher, so people would use to troll medic mains who fought that they brought a stock RL into battle.
I'm surprised that the dung pie wasn't in this video or the second one. The dung pie from Dark Souls was overpowered since most people couldn't heal toxicity and it drained health so fast as well.

The wooden sword in Skyrim can be improved enough to one-hit just about anything. I think the last time I checked mine did 168 points of base damage. Lol.
I love powering up wooden swords, then super enchanting them with the max amount of fear enchantment, and then giving them to my adopted kids. Anybody who picks a fight with my kids is either getting wreckt or running away. Either way, kid stays safe.

Dragon Age: Inquisition has a giant spoon, a wheel of cheese as a shield, and a full ham on a stick. Not that they're crazy effective, but they ARE super satisfying, and work surprisingly well. The spoon, called The Boon of the Spoon, is found by completing a series of trivia questions at Skyhold. The cheese wheel, called the Wedge of Destiny, is simply found in Crestwood. And the ham, called The Jade Ham, is a reward for a war table operation in the Jaws of Hakkon DLC.
Aye, I agree with all the above, best game to exemplify art imo. Does things with the medium of video games I've never seen before on top of the amazing music and great gameplay.
I've seen wooden swords appear in some other games as special grind-defeating weapons. Basically their core stats were bad but they doubled or tripled your xp, jp, ap, or whatever p gains you were trying to get for the game in question. Since you could make up for the temporarily lowered stats by...leveling...you could get just one or two levels ahead and then use the bokken to stay ahead of the curve for the rest of the game. It's maybe a little meta for the list, since in those cases it's not being useful As A Weapon, per se. More of a specialized tool with an acceptable tradeoff.
Here's is a fun fact. It was actually not uncommon for samurai and other sword wielding users in japan to use a bokken(wooden sword) as a wooden sword could break bones and was much cheaper and lighter to make compared to a steel sword.
@@lucasmillerthelewderofloli9327 The katana would have to be incredibly poorly made to be broken by a bokken. Even a skilled samurai would have difficult doing that. Musashi did shape an oar paddle into a bokken and beat the fire out of a samurai that challenged him and won while that samurai had a katana, but I don't think he actually broke that samurai's blade. Most records of that happening were blade to blade and the higher quality blade won, or when samurai fought Mongols that use axes and maces, which either dulled, or shattered katanas.

You forgot to mention that before the money bundles damage got buffed it was the best thing to use to keep civilians down, the only way to get a civilan down and zip tied is to either scream at them several times or to melee them. Most melee weapons would one or two shot civilans were the money bundle, that at the time did like 2 damage, was perfect for keeping civilans down as it only need to be swung once or twice to keep a civy down.
I only have the Yoshikawa novel to go by but yeah, Musashi Was purposefully late for the fight and used his boat's oar as a boken. He figured, apparently during the boat trip, the oar would give him more reach against Ganryu.
I'd like to give a shout out to the thirst zapper from Fallout 4. Sure, it might just be a dinky little water pistol useful for short-circuiting some electric power armour, but fully upgraded, it is an unstoppable nuclear death machine
Weaponizing the Thirst Zapper was the best part of NukaWorld. Alas, it's still got nothing on the horrifying incarnation of the apocalypse that is the Instigating Gauss Rifle. I did the math once, and with the right perks you can do 50K+ damage in a single shot.
@@saulalessio2251 2-shot is actually worse for single-shot high-damage weapons because it's only additive, not multiplicative. For low-damage high-ROF, two-shot works much better.

I was actually hoping for the joke weapons in Symphonia. Beating up bosses with paper fans and a mop never gets old. Edit: For anyone unfamiliar with Tales of Symphonia, in this game the joke weapons are actually the third most powerful weapons in the game.

How about the frying pan in the original Fable? They make you go on a stupidly difficult treasure hunt, all for a frying pan. At least they made it one of, if not the most powerful weapon in the game.
It wasn't powerful at all. It's one good quality was that it had 5 augment slots. Giving it a bunch of sharpening augments would make it decent but not the best or a better way to use it was giving it a bunch of mana augments so you could just go nuts as a magic user.
You HAD to find ALL the clues first if you wanted the strong version. It is possible to find it before you finish following all the clues, but if you did, you got the trash version.

In skyrim, the wabbajack could be by far, the most op weapon in the game, turning enemies into a chicken, or a tasty treat, or a frost troll or a dragon... oh wait... Potentially hilarious. Potentially deadly. Lovely
The foam finger from Dead Space 2! Isaac goes through enough to get it but it's nice to give the monsters a taste of their own medicine, who's the scary monster now!!

I've had a bug on numerous occasions where the Bane's sound effect would spread to other guns after switching. I couldn't escape it's shrieks ever until I restarted the game. It was pretty hilarious.
If you do the mission for the Bane in Co-Op, both players are given a Bane. Do this with one character as a Gunzerker, and you can Gunzerk 2 Banes at once. Annoying, but awesome. As. Hell.
Funniest thing on earth is to have a lobby of 4 gunzerkers, get 4 banes, dupe, now have 8 banes. Equip bane in 1 and 2 slot of all 4 gunzerkers, gunzerker simultaneously... 4 Sal's firing 8 banes all at once... The most glorious sound on earth... Its crashed the game probably 1 out of 4 times we've done it. But God is it worth it. We used to do Banoplite runs where we'd gear up with 4 gunzerkers, 2 banes each, and a hoplite shield on each character. Since hoplite gives you MASSIVE shield capacity at the cost of huge health reduction, and a speed reduction, it's already funny, but then throw in the fact that the hoplites effects are magnified for each one in a party... When you're running 4 of them, plus bane, (and we'd throw in the more multi-player centric class mods that massively boosted stats for everyone in the party) you're the slowest moving, most annoying sounding, but tankiest group of gunzerkers ever. Imagine money shot+inconceivable proccing on 8 banes at the same time... Just shred a quadrillion health having raid boss. It's too bad this was back in the pre twitch days. We did a lot of different oddly themed runs on that game using bizzare loadouts, certain weapons only, certain character/character combinations only.. Some were pretty damn entertaining. I'd bet at least 10 people would have watched. Lol.
Fallout New Vegas has what appears to be a toy gun called Euclid's C-finder that appears to be very useless, that is unless you powered up Archimedes II and you now have access to a space laser
The gun falls under awesome but impractical. You can only do it outside, once per day, and it has quite a buildup before it actually fires, during which time your opponent has likely moved and/or been alerted to your presence.
@@charlations It's a joke hammer that makes a squeak noise when you hit with it and does one damage per hit. However when you hit four times in a row, the fourth hit sends the foe flying. Use your environment right and you have the perfect weapon for cliffside fights.
Genuinely upset that the fish sword from the 2002 Lord of the Rings: the Fellowship of the Ring isn't on this list. It's an obscure game but that sword was hilarious and crazy op.
Groovitron from Ratchet and Clank. Mostly it’s there to make enemies get down to those funky beats in a variety of amusing ways. Side effect is the rhythm has certainly got them and even tanks are defenceless as you smash them to bits.
What was really cool about the Groovitron was that all the different enemies had different dance routines, including all the bosses! Bravo insomniac for attention to detail.
In a game full of joke weapons, the Sling in Enter the Gungeon stands out to me personally. Notably, the game is filled with guns. This is in fact, just a sling. Kills bosses in a heartbeat nonetheless.
I was looking in the comments to find this one. And Tifa got janitor gloves, and Cloud got... a bat with a nail in it. That may not be a sword, Cloud, but it would not be hilarious to be hit by.
All the joke weapons in FF7 were good! I'm rather fond of giving Yuffie a superball. Also, Zack uses a beach umbrella in Crisis Core (perhaps as an homage to Aerith's parasol weapon) that does the same damage as the buster sword.
In Tales of Symphonia, there's a town that you can visit that's been destroyed but you can pour money into it to fix the town back up and even better than it was before. Fully upgrading this town provides a unique shop that sells joke weapons for the entire group you play as, and most of those weapons can be used all the way to the end of the game. I'm looking at you, Pow Hammer DX for Presea. You're awesome.

Probably because of the crazy amount of effort you have to put in to get it, plus they already covered that in their "7 Best Unlockable Bonuses That Were Worth All the Hassle" and didn't want to be redundant.
Rat king, Destiny 2. So first of all it's a side arm, which is by far the weakest weapon type in the game. By itself, it is the best sidearm in the game, but it is easily out classed by any decent smg. The worst part is, its an exotic. In destiny you have a kinetic weapon, an energy weapon and a power weapon. But you can only equip 1 exotic weapon at a time. So if you carry a rat king, then you cant use any of the games exotic power weapons which are most of the weapons you want to use. BUT, the gun has a perk called Rat Kings Crew. If you are playing with other people who are also using rat king, then the perk will be active. This perk can stack up to 6 times if you are playing with a full team of people using this gun. With rat pack times 5 (times 1, is when people have it) The gun goes from 300rpm, to 1200rpm, the damage and range increase and the magazine goes from 12 rounds to 24 rounds. Making it one of the highest dps guns in the game. And it is by far the most powerful gun that uses primary ammo, which is the most common ammo type, meaning you can use it to kill everything without running out of ammo like you would with any of the few guns that are more powerful than it.
I think the Tractor Cannon also counts here. Looks like a portal gun ripoff, and does absolutely abysmal damage...except if your target is within the same zipcode as a wall in which case it will turn all but the heartiest Guardians into a stain on said wall on top of its perk Scientific Method which buffs movement speed which allows you to close the distance even faster.

What about the Sheepinator from Ratchet and Clank? Turn your enemies into sheep, and if upgraded, makes exploding sheep. Doesn't seem to be a baa-d weapon to have in life.
In Prince of Persia Warrior Within there were a few joke weapons from teddy bears to garden flamingos. But the best one had to be the Rayman glove, which was able to knock down enemies in one hit for you to finish them on the ground.
The oar upgraded from the wooden sword is a direct reference to Miyamoto Musashi's wooden sword that was carved from a boat oar. Musashi is known as the greatest swordsman in Japan, undefeated in sword duels even though he dual wields 2 wooden swords. The wooden oar sword became legendary because of him and is referenced a lot in Japanese games as some kind of super weapon.
What about the Dubstep gun from Saints Row? When you first get it it's really just a funny gimmick, but fully upgraded it deals super high damage, causes explosions and has unlimited ammo.
Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin also has a similar weapon, a cream pie that you throw right in your opponent's face. What makes it useful is that it's one of the few items in the game that does "dark" damage. This is especially helpful when fighting against the "Whip's Memory", a doppelganger of previous protagonist, Richter Belmont, who is weak against Dark. It just feels weird that the best weapon against one of the bosses is a pie that you throw right in their face.
9:16 as a payday 2 user. i actually never seen someone using this on "loud" all of the users that i see used ice pick or the Brass electric knuckle/Buzzer or a Syringe that inflicts enemy on posion. even doe i played it for like 600 hours. well yes i did saw someone using this on "Stealth". but why dont you use Ice pick that has same consealment and does way more damage

Maybe not a joke weapon per se, but the paper fan from Super Smash Bros. Brawl was pretty damn effective at locking people down for ages while you rack up a lot of damage in the right situations
That thing was hilarious, EZ 50% or something half the time. And didn't do like 1% per hit but like half your shield if you tried to block so it'll shred your defence in like half a second.
In the early assassins creed series you can get ezio to pick up a common household broom. Seems harmless right? Except you can one-hit kill just about any enemy in the game with it. Even slashing their throats or stabbing their stomachs open
Hard for me to agree on The Bane from Borderlands 2. In Normal Mode and True Vault Hunter Mode? Sure, solid weapon. But Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode? Usefulness takes a massive nosedive. Not having good movement in UVHM is a death wish.

It builds up your own toxicity as a trade-off, but once you're Toxic from the dung pies, you're immune to the worse effects of Toxic.

Use the restoration potion glitch and you can make it crazy effective.

Dragon Age: Inquisition has a giant spoon, a wheel of cheese as a shield, and a full ham on a stick.
Not that they're crazy effective, but they ARE super satisfying, and work surprisingly well.
The spoon, called The Boon of the Spoon, is found by completing a series of trivia questions at Skyhold.
The cheese wheel, called the Wedge of Destiny, is simply found in Crestwood.
And the ham, called The Jade Ham, is a reward for a war table operation in the Jaws of Hakkon DLC.

I've seen wooden swords appear in some other games as special grind-defeating weapons. Basically their core stats were bad but they doubled or tripled your xp, jp, ap, or whatever p gains you were trying to get for the game in question. Since you could make up for the temporarily lowered stats by...leveling...you could get just one or two levels ahead and then use the bokken to stay ahead of the curve for the rest of the game.
It's maybe a little meta for the list, since in those cases it's not being useful As A Weapon, per se. More of a specialized tool with an acceptable tradeoff.
Here's is a fun fact. It was actually not uncommon for samurai and other sword wielding users in japan to use a bokken(wooden sword) as a wooden sword could break bones and was much cheaper and lighter to make compared to a steel sword.

@@lucasmillerthelewderofloli9327 The katana would have to be incredibly poorly made to be broken by a bokken. Even a skilled samurai would have difficult doing that. Musashi did shape an oar paddle into a bokken and beat the fire out of a samurai that challenged him and won while that samurai had a katana, but I don't think he actually broke that samurai's blade. Most records of that happening were blade to blade and the higher quality blade won, or when samurai fought Mongols that use axes and maces, which either dulled, or shattered katanas.

You forgot to mention that before the money bundles damage got buffed it was the best thing to use to keep civilians down, the only way to get a civilan down and zip tied is to either scream at them several times or to melee them. Most melee weapons would one or two shot civilans were the money bundle, that at the time did like 2 damage, was perfect for keeping civilans down as it only need to be swung once or twice to keep a civy down.

I'd like to give a shout out to the thirst zapper from Fallout 4. Sure, it might just be a dinky little water pistol useful for short-circuiting some electric power armour, but fully upgraded, it is an unstoppable nuclear death machine

Weaponizing the Thirst Zapper was the best part of NukaWorld. Alas, it's still got nothing on the horrifying incarnation of the apocalypse that is the Instigating Gauss Rifle. I did the math once, and with the right perks you can do 50K+ damage in a single shot.

How about the frying pan in the original Fable? They make you go on a stupidly difficult treasure hunt, all for a frying pan. At least they made it one of, if not the most powerful weapon in the game.
It wasn't powerful at all. It's one good quality was that it had 5 augment slots. Giving it a bunch of sharpening augments would make it decent but not the best or a better way to use it was giving it a bunch of mana augments so you could just go nuts as a magic user.
You HAD to find ALL the clues first if you wanted the strong version. It is possible to find it before you finish following all the clues, but if you did, you got the trash version.

I've had a bug on numerous occasions where the Bane's sound effect would spread to other guns after switching. I couldn't escape it's shrieks ever until I restarted the game. It was pretty hilarious.
If you do the mission for the Bane in Co-Op, both players are given a Bane. Do this with one character as a Gunzerker, and you can Gunzerk 2 Banes at once. Annoying, but awesome. As. Hell.
Funniest thing on earth is to have a lobby of 4 gunzerkers, get 4 banes, dupe, now have 8 banes. Equip bane in 1 and 2 slot of all 4 gunzerkers, gunzerker simultaneously... 4 Sal's firing 8 banes all at once... The most glorious sound on earth... Its crashed the game probably 1 out of 4 times we've done it. But God is it worth it. We used to do Banoplite runs where we'd gear up with 4 gunzerkers, 2 banes each, and a hoplite shield on each character. Since hoplite gives you MASSIVE shield capacity at the cost of huge health reduction, and a speed reduction, it's already funny, but then throw in the fact that the hoplites effects are magnified for each one in a party... When you're running 4 of them, plus bane, (and we'd throw in the more multi-player centric class mods that massively boosted stats for everyone in the party) you're the slowest moving, most annoying sounding, but tankiest group of gunzerkers ever. Imagine money shot+inconceivable proccing on 8 banes at the same time... Just shred a quadrillion health having raid boss. It's too bad this was back in the pre twitch days. We did a lot of different oddly themed runs on that game using bizzare loadouts, certain weapons only, certain character/character combinations only.. Some were pretty damn entertaining. I'd bet at least 10 people would have watched. Lol.

The gun falls under awesome but impractical. You can only do it outside, once per day, and it has quite a buildup before it actually fires, during which time your opponent has likely moved and/or been alerted to your presence.
No spring-loaded hammer from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild? If you were anywhere near a cliff, any enemy had no chance.

@@charlations It's a joke hammer that makes a squeak noise when you hit with it and does one damage per hit. However when you hit four times in a row, the fourth hit sends the foe flying. Use your environment right and you have the perfect weapon for cliffside fights.
Couple that with a pot lid shield too.
Genuinely upset that the fish sword from the 2002 Lord of the Rings: the Fellowship of the Ring isn't on this list. It's an obscure game but that sword was hilarious and crazy op.

Groovitron from Ratchet and Clank. Mostly it’s there to make enemies get down to those funky beats in a variety of amusing ways. Side effect is the rhythm has certainly got them and even tanks are defenceless as you smash them to bits.
What was really cool about the Groovitron was that all the different enemies had different dance routines, including all the bosses!

In a game full of joke weapons, the Sling in Enter the Gungeon stands out to me personally. Notably, the game is filled with guns. This is in fact, just a sling. Kills bosses in a heartbeat nonetheless.
I would honestly say thee are a lot of weapons in Gungeon that deserve a spot on the list. Super Soaker? Banana? BeEs?? Just a fricking plank of wood?

All the joke weapons in FF7 were good! I'm rather fond of giving Yuffie a superball. Also, Zack uses a beach umbrella in Crisis Core (perhaps as an homage to Aerith's parasol weapon) that does the same damage as the buster sword.

In Tales of Symphonia, there's a town that you can visit that's been destroyed but you can pour money into it to fix the town back up and even better than it was before. Fully upgrading this town provides a unique shop that sells joke weapons for the entire group you play as, and most of those weapons can be used all the way to the end of the game. I'm looking at you, Pow Hammer DX for Presea. You're awesome.

Probably because of the crazy amount of effort you have to put in to get it, plus they already covered that in their "7 Best Unlockable Bonuses That Were Worth All the Hassle" and didn't want to be redundant.

Destiny 2.
So first of all it's a side arm, which is by far the weakest weapon type in the game.
By itself, it is the best sidearm in the game, but it is easily out classed by any decent smg. The worst part is, its an exotic. In destiny you have a kinetic weapon, an energy weapon and a power weapon. But you can only equip 1 exotic weapon at a time. So if you carry a rat king, then you cant use any of the games exotic power weapons which are most of the weapons you want to use.
BUT, the gun has a perk called Rat Kings Crew. If you are playing with other people who are also using rat king, then the perk will be active. This perk can stack up to 6 times if you are playing with a full team of people using this gun.
With rat pack times 5 (times 1, is when people have it)
The gun goes from 300rpm, to 1200rpm, the damage and range increase and the magazine goes from 12 rounds to 24 rounds.
Making it one of the highest dps guns in the game. And it is by far the most powerful gun that uses primary ammo, which is the most common ammo type, meaning you can use it to kill everything without running out of ammo like you would with any of the few guns that are more powerful than it.
I think the Tractor Cannon also counts here. Looks like a portal gun ripoff, and does absolutely abysmal damage...except if your target is within the same zipcode as a wall in which case it will turn all but the heartiest Guardians into a stain on said wall on top of its perk Scientific Method which buffs movement speed which allows you to close the distance even faster.

What about the Sheepinator from Ratchet and Clank? Turn your enemies into sheep, and if upgraded, makes exploding sheep. Doesn't seem to be a baa-d weapon to have in life.
In Prince of Persia Warrior Within there were a few joke weapons from teddy bears to garden flamingos.
But the best one had to be the Rayman glove, which was able to knock down enemies in one hit for you to finish them on the ground.
I carried that Teddy Bear through most of PoP WW.

The oar upgraded from the wooden sword is a direct reference to Miyamoto Musashi's wooden sword that was carved from a boat oar. Musashi is known as the greatest swordsman in Japan, undefeated in sword duels even though he dual wields 2 wooden swords. The wooden oar sword became legendary because of him and is referenced a lot in Japanese games as some kind of super weapon.

What makes it useful is that it's one of the few items in the game that does "dark" damage. 9:16 as a payday 2 user. i actually never seen someone using this on "loud" all of the users that i see used ice pick or the Brass electric knuckle/Buzzer or a Syringe that inflicts enemy on posion. even doe i played it for like 600 hours. well yes i did saw someone using this on "Stealth". but why dont you use Ice pick that has same consealment

Maybe not a joke weapon per se, but the paper fan from Super Smash Bros. Brawl was pretty damn effective at locking people down for ages while you rack up a lot of damage in the right situations
Man, I remember getting double fan with the ice climbers and just mauling everyone. Two fans is an almost inescapable stunlock with crazy dps.
And trying to shield against the fans only makes it worse because those shields get torn apart in seconds.
That thing was hilarious, EZ 50% or something half the time. And didn't do like 1% per hit but like half your shield if you tried to block so it'll shred your defence in like half a second.

In the early assassins creed series you can get ezio to pick up a common household broom. Seems harmless right? Except you can one-hit kill just about any enemy in the game with it. Even slashing their throats or stabbing their stomachs open

Hard for me to agree on The Bane from Borderlands 2. In Normal Mode and True Vault Hunter Mode? Sure, solid weapon. But Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode? Usefulness takes a massive nosedive.
