    I can easily see this couple today, in their 80's... "Remember that game show we were on, Bernie? It was called Money Maze, remember Bernie? The host was George Clooney's father, remember that Bernie?"
    I remember watching this when I was in junior high. There was one episode I remember where a contestant hit a maze wall so hard I thought it was going to fall over.

    I loved this game show and always tried to get home from school to see at least the endings. Would love to see a revival or any possible old episodes.

    I remember watching "The Moneymaze" on ABC the first half of 1975. If this game show were to be revived on ABC, George Clooney would be the perfect host for the potentially newer version of this game show. His dad Nick Clooney did an excellent job hosting this ABC game show.

    They just found another episode of the Money Maze recently! It lasted just one season--1974-75. In the pilot, it was strange to see Rhode Island compete against Delaware--fittingly enough that it would last only half-a-year to follow. But I remember both years!

    I once heard that this show was an absolute operational and financial nightmare for the production company. It required a greater than usual amount of labor because a large number of stage-hands were needed to set-up and break-down the stage and the maze. The stage was no different than the stages for other game shows, but setting-up and taking-down the maze took the better part of day. This meant that the production company was spending far more in wages than other game shows. Also, since the maze took so long to set-up and take-down, the studio couldn't be used to tape other game shows. This meant that the producers of the Money Maze had to pay nearly a full day's rent for the studio time. Finally, extra storage space, and higher storage costs, were involved because there were so many panels for the maze. Viewership of the Money Maze was no higher than other game shows in and around it's time slot which meant that the production company couldn't demand higher advertising revenues to off-set it's higher production costs.

      Game shows always rented the studio for the day because they taped several episodes one after the other.

    Nick Clooney anchored the news at the NBC owned and operated station, KNBC 4 in Los Angeles. And for some more trivia, Rosemary Clooney was Nick's sister.

      They're father and son. Nick Clooney is George Clooney's father.
      If they bring this show back, they could BOTH be a Host. George could host a daily network version, and Nick do a nighttime show. syndicated

      +snowden67 Yeah, that probably would have worked, but you want the viewing public, as well as the contestants, to think you're a nice and classy guy. You don't want them to believe you're rude otherwise no one's going to want to watch your show, let alone be a part of it. So yeah, it would've worked, but you have to remember your image and as far as your image is concerned, that's just something you simply cannot do. It wouldn't be nice.

    Did MCA TV co produce The Money Maze? If the ratings were decent this show could have been syndicated.

    • @KiddBloo86
      @KiddBloo86 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Production costs were too high; it took 1 full day to put the set and studio together. Then to change the maze after every episode. It got rather expensive to the point it dipped into promotion money.

    • @markschildberg1667
      @markschildberg1667 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The show was produced by Daphne Productions (a Dick Cavett company) and Don Lipp Productions. MCA TV was not involved.
