Thats actually really dope! Pitchmap is really expensive, this is a great way of doing basically the same sound with ableton stock stuff! Great video! :)
This is hands down the best virtual riot tutorial out there, not to mention the fact that you just gave me a wayyy easier method to make colour bass. Very impressive!!! :)
thank you for having some midi in there, every video i swear is someone acting like they are gods gift when the daw in just a well timed splice playlist
I think you are doin a great job of making your tutorials straight to the point, but not too fast and you aren’t getting off track👏 keep up the good work!
This is beautiful! I think the movement born out of US dubstep is so underrated and needs a revival. Dubstep will never die! I love watching you work and hearing the finished project! And no, it's not cheating or "plagiarism" to use sample packs! Better than goat farming and all... Your project is also beautiful to look at. Virtual Riot has an amazing mind, and he's inspiring to many;)
man i love that you're just strait forward with advice, editing in the video is on point too! i had to subscribe after this video 10/10 excited to watch your other content
What a video man! This has been the most comprehensive tutorial that actually clicked with me. You have a great ear and can produce like a MONSTER! Lets link up sometime!
Ash, you're awesoem. I've learned so much ina short amount of time. I even picked up a new workflow. I hope you continue to inspire small-time producers like me.
Hiii! I’m making the switch from fl to ableton and you’re tutorials are incredible! Happy I started following you back in my production journey! Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experiences with ableton!!
You know I really needed to hear that bit about using splice I’m very new and definitely get discouraged that I can’t make crazy basses on my own but I’m gonna change the focus to completely stuff instead of scraping it when I can’t make a drop that sounds like shit fantastic video!
splice also has actual serum presets so u can get those and learn from them if u wanna go down that Also my project files have serum presets included w them
I'm a newbie at bass music and I don't understand why your color bass sound so CLEAN and fully at 10:36 and with a sub bass too I've tried to do the same things in FL with vocodex and it sounds flat or muddy so I've tried to do the same things in ableton with the same settings u had but it sounds worse than yours... I don't know why, maybe you got some on a master channel?
Post processing after the vocoder is really important too. Not the master, I don't really have anything on there other than limiter or OTT for loudness
sorry i'm still pretty new to this, at 1:52 it looks like the first envelope going to something too maybe? i tried to recreate it but it's only the pluck portion working and has no sustain like i'm hearing in the video? or is that just another instrument at the same time i don't really understand, it doesn't ring out for me after the initial hit 😓
Marvelous tutorial. I'm still trying very hard to get out of that mindset of having to create every sound while I'm making a song, it really slows down everything to the point where I usually get bored of it and start with something new, cycle repeats. If I really have to make all the sounds myself, then I guess it would be better to have sound design sessions where I just grind for a lot of sounds, and make one-shots and loops out of it and save it for later use in a song instead of sound designing while I'm making a track. I'm just not really good at using samples as they kinda limit the ability to go 100% creative with it and edit it, but I gotta learn to get more creative with it, there's no such thing as "can't do" that's BS. I like how your tuts also doesn't go into detail about sounds design or chord and progressions, leaving the viewer with the idea that they gotta do everything themselves and not just copy & paste ideas

@@ashFB2B so what do you usually put after vocoding? like some otts and saturation and thats it?

if you want it to ring out increase the sustain. since the notes are played one after another it sounds like its sustained but its not
@@ashFB2B thanks for the quick reply, i'll give it a shot!
insanely well done!

This was very helpful, thanks a bunch
