Fair warning, when you go to sell them, don’t advertise them as “ceramic,” advertise them as “clay.” There is a difference between ceramic clay and this type of sculpting clay, and the ceramic purists are not nice about it. (I am in a few sculpting and clay groups, and the people who do pottery and ceramics are always tearing people apart in the comments if they call air dry or polymer clay projects ceramic.)
Yes! Also it will lead other novice artists to think that ceramic techniques are the same as air dry ones. They do share some, but ceramics clearly involve a kiln.
Hi, thanks for sharing this video, everything is awesome, heck for your 1st time, you did great & you have fun doing it, so cute, looking forward to more.
omgg I love your artstyle, it's so... warm ? I can't explain it but it's so beautiful , it reminds me of fall and coming home to hot cocoa on a chilly autumn day. It's so comforting, aah I really do not know how to describe it as anything but magnificent
Apologize!?!? Apologize for what girl? I LOVE your longer vidoes, they are missed and so relaxing. Please upload more longer videos!🥰 Great job as always and looking forward to the next shop update 😀
Absolutely loved this video! So beautiful and whimsical. One tip I have for working with polymer clay to get rub of microfiber and prints is to gently wipe them prior to baking with a q-tip and isopropyl alcohol. It cleans the piece easily and erodes some of the jagged edges you may have if you shape it with the q-tip. Total game changer!
My new obsession..❤ times are tough but my birthday is coming up and all I’m asking for is supplies 😂😂 I love to make goodies with my kiddos ❤️ Love your creativity!
Just a heads up! You should be wearing a respirator while using that glue! Edit. A really big down fall micheals has is they don’t advocate for safety while using the products they sell. Safety is the number one priority ❤️
Agree, @Michaels needs to start selling more safety tools , gloves for painting, gloves for not cutting fingers, and etc. #artteachers would appreciate it and local shops. I have to get a lot from hardware or Amazon.
Here's an idea for making more ceramic earrings; how about a squirrel and mushroom earring set? I think it could look cute for the autumn, or some bird silhouettes on branches? Just an idea :3
Top tip: if you put a length of wood, at your desired thickness, either side of the roller you will roll your clay always to the exact thickness you need for your project. 👍🏻
Beautiful! I really like your unique and cute style. So relaxing video. Finally enabled me to slow down and enjoy the whole process of creation. You inspired me to get back to ceramics. And do not worry about running out of inspiration. It is not a destination, but a vehicle. It arrives and goes. At the right time, you will always know what to do. Even after few years of watching your channel, you can still surprise me and I like it, so do not worry. You are the best! :D
I love all these designs, they’re beautiful! And I love your longer videos, seeing the whole process is great to watch and very inspirational. Don’t ever apologise for longer videos - always happy to watch longer ones, they’re really calming too 💖 (I love that teapot pin! 🥰) Kate xx
People who work with polymer clay regularly suggest Sculpey Premo is the best to work with. Next would be Sculpey Souffle. And lastly Sculpey III because III is so soft and sticky and leaves a lot of fingerprints. (I like a lot of colors that come in III so I just deal with it but it's based on personal preference.) Also when you pull out some clay, like break it off or cut it off of a chunk, make sure to "condition" the clay. There are plenty of videos to show you how, it's really simple but it helps a lot. It makes the clay easier to work with, especially during the colder months. But also mixes the ingredients together for a stronger bake. When it sits on a shelf (both in the store and in your own storage) for an extended amount of time the ingredients will settle. It's good to mix the polymers together. Also, polyurethane is a shinier, longer lasting sealer at the end. Mod podge breaks down after time.
You make such beautiful pieces! I wish you could cover my walls in little doodles 💛 suggestions for little ceramics.. gingerbread men/houses.. moons/stars/suns.. sunflowers.. anything from your witchy sticker range x
Whaaaa sooo cute! Id love moons & stars and also branches or so. Im not experienced, but have seen ppl use things (like coins or so) to put around the coat while rolling. The rolling pin will roll over them and youll get the clay exactly as thick as you want and fairly even. Also you can use branches, grasses etc to roll textures into them. I love your video's! Your art, voice and footage. Just so calming tot watch, so longer vids; i love! Kind regards from The Netherlands!
Started my journey yesterday with making my own clay magnets and I found your video and it’s such an inspiration! Love your vibe!! I can’t wait to make more cute ceramics! I love how you mention the satisfying that comes with a finished product even if they’re not perfect! I felt mine were so rustic but I love them! Haha
Did the magnets ever come off? It's a really soecific question but, I'm starting my own business and I was looking for tips on how to get the magnets to not come off with time. And I see your comment is one year old
Hi jenny! I just want to thank you for being such an inspiration. Your videos really motivate me! I wanted to ask if possible, you can make a video talking about the settings and pressures that you. recommend for the Cricut using online labels. I seen to keep having issues with it every time. Thank sooooo much
Hello..very pretty work. Also FYI Ceramics is a greenware clay that needs to be fired in a kiln just like porcelain..I am a doll maker and work both in ceramics and porcelain..what you are working with is not Ceramic clay. It is polymer clay which can be hardened in your kitchen oven at 275 degrees for 30 min... follow package directions. Just thought you might like to know.. keep creating and learning. 🥰
These are really adorable. Now I want to break out my own clay packages and start crafting ❤️ maybe you could try teacups and matching pots for earrings, they would look so good in your art style!
If you are going to do more of these, you should look into getting a pasta machine. I got mine at Michael’s with a coupon. You condition the clay, set the machine to the thickness you want, and run the clay through-. It helps you create a flat piece of clay so it is uniform and level. Of course sometimes I don’t use it because I am purposefully going for an uneven thickness on the shape for a certain look. Also someone mentioned sealing with UV resin and I totally agree! I don’t make enough to warrant a huge UV lamp - I just use a lamp that came with a gel nail kit. I wouldn’t recommend the handheld UV lamps though.
A straw makes a great hole in clay. Just push down , give a little twist, rada a smooth hole. Also mini cookie cutters make a variety of cute shapes that will be consistent size for jewelry.
I am excited to watch the adventure unfurl! You may want to exchange the s 3 for regular s as I heard sculpey 3 was really fragile!:-)ps~definitely make some cactus!😊
If this video is 20 minutes, then I say next video should be 40 with real time footage and chill music. I love watching the process. You have a beautiful style of painting that is very detailed and lovely. 😊
I've used the dimensional magic mod podge as well as amazing clear cast AND UV resin, and honestly if you're going to be making like a LOT of clay pins, you should totally try out the UV resin! :] Buying the UV lamp is an investment, but it's worth it! UV resin is like 30 times easier to work with than regular resin- there's so much that can go wrong with regular resin and it's also extremely toxic haha 😅 And the quality of UV resin vs the mod podge is so much better!
Maybe its just me but I actually prefer longer videos! I love what your doing and find it very relaxing, so I am always happy about having more to watch :D
Everything is super cute 😍💛 Side note : please keep yourself safe In the long run and do not Inhale the glue. Please wear a mask, keep windows open, wear gloves, and please do not eat while handling 😩it’s super harmful and toxic to inhale
Love these! Different ideas: celestial stuff, FLOWERS/ferns/succulents, stuff for holidays or seasons, drinks (coffee, bubble tea, etc.) and food, animals 🙂
Im a polymer clay artist, I sell my stuff at some local shops and have an etsy shop. Id recommend a different glue, polymer clay is flexible so you need a gel super glue, like Gorilla Super glue Gel XL, that works better then E6000. Also if you plan to sell them I’d suggest you seal them in UV resin makes them more durable and very glossy and beautiful
I have put varnish on top of the acrylic, when the varnish is dry, I can peel it off using my fingernails. Can you give me some tips so that the varnish doesn't peel?
Fair warning, when you go to sell them, don’t advertise them as “ceramic,” advertise them as “clay.” There is a difference between ceramic clay and this type of sculpting clay, and the ceramic purists are not nice about it. Bless her, so enthusiastic to be trying new things..and, yes, I felt like a jerk after shouting '..it's not ceramics..' at the screen...😬
Yes that confused me. I was sure I heard her say she was using polymer clay.
They really are two different animals entirely.
Omg I didn’t know that was a thing 🥶🥶🥶🥶😱😱😱 mortified for all the time I’ve called any clay thingy a ceramic 😭
Yes! Also it will lead other novice artists to think that ceramic techniques are the same as air dry ones. They do share some, but ceramics clearly involve a kiln.
They re not ceramic nor clay. They re polymer.
Finally a Jenny video 😩💫
12:00 I love the teapot 🍵❤️. It just so cozy for me.
These are the cutest things ever! I never would've thought to do anything like this but it seems super relaxing
loving your profile image
why are these THE cutest things I have EVER seen EVER?!
I love how you paint the mushroom caps with floral patterns. Also the stems faces are to die for! So cute!

Makes me want to clip mint from outside and put it on my studio table for now on.

Adorable! Jic no one mentioned it you can use tiny straws to make hole think coffee stirrers. Thank you so for sharing. 🍄
Very cute!
AMAZING!!! thank you.
I would love more videos this length and if you did little teabags and mugs of tea, that would be delightful!
You should do little yin and yang and/or sun and moon earring with those same style little faces! Those mushies are absolutely precious!! ❤️
Very beautiful 😻
I liked so much this video, your voice is so soothing and sweet it, makes me happy just to listen lol ^u^

For smoothing out the dry clay a bit easier you could use fine sandpaper. Love your designs, they are very cute! :)
Be sure to try air drying clay too! It’s super fun. And fine grit sandpaper is great for smoothing after you bake, removing fingerprints.

For how long do u bake in the oven and at what tempreture?
How do you make holes on them (for earrings and pendant)?
What kind of paint r u using for Sculpey original? Is that acrylic paint?
could u make a video in which u make print stickers and prints and package them? LOVED the last one u made on 20 dec 2019.
What pen did you use to draw on the faces?
Is there a substitute for mod podge?
