funny easy to find them when i lived on long island sound, but now i live in ri and only have found them 2x. the blue crabbing is great every year so it makes up for it. btw blue crabs can only be harvested by ri residences. probably the reason its good every year.

On Long Island Non-Commercial Shellfish harvesters are permitted a combined limit of 100 per day (about 1/2 a 5 gal bucket)

It's all specific to your area. Check state or town websites before heading out.

In Connecticut certain areas are year-round. Beach areas are November to May 1st depends on town...you have to get a permit/license to do it. Just go to the town hall and apply. They switch areas that they close for a time so always update your maps.

John Skinner just told me this guy owes him $20.
They had a bet 5 years ago on who could pick up the fattest chick in Napier Tandy’s in Smithtown.
John won by a landslide and Mr. Clam Picker never paid up.

      @@billlegakis9155 ; HOW DARE YOU ???!!!???
How dare you denigrate the memory of John Skinner?
Do you realize the self sacrifice that beautiful, humble, generous man has shown over the years.
Are you aware that he donated many hours of his time volunteering at the local east end community theater when it was ravaged by a fire? Or how about the countless hours spent at the local home for single teenage mothers? Maybe you didn’t know about the time spent marching for the civil rights movement in the Deep South during the turbulent ‘60s.
John Skinner has lived a thousand lives and you only want to mock him and the times he’s shown a little tenderness and compassion to the less fortunate females among us.
You sir, should be ashamed of yourself.

Who taught you how to scratch rake? You use the teeth to skim and feel the clam then you use the corner of the rake to dig that clam. You're bull raking with a scratch rake digging away wasting time and energy.
