I’ve done this a lot in my art journals over the years. I first learned it from Willowing classes. I think she called it negative imaging. Fun!

I’m glad you liked it in the end! This is a good technique to use on a very busy background or one that we would call a hot mess. I forgot to mention in the video that you can use any color on the background. Sometimes black is very effective too.

Glad you like it! I forgot to say in the video that you can also use a dark color to cover most of the page. I’ve done that before, and it can also be very effective.
