    Absolutely a beautiful plane, I love mine so much I bought Dubro low bounce wheels for it. Removed the front wheel skirt since I fly off a bumpy low cut grass field . I have caught the skirt before on a bump once and bent the gear a little, so good buy skirt. I also upgraded all my servos to full metal gear. It’s one of my Favorite Sport planes and definitely a full package of electronics to play well with my Spektrum NX8 . Awesome demo . My morning coffee channel to start my day . Thanks for sharing. 😊

    That is a gorgeous looking scale model. I don't really like tricycle gear (no hard surfaces where I fly) but I still want that Cirrus! The real SR22 is not cleared for any sort of aerobatics so it looks like owners of only 3 cell packs will be just fine if flying scale. I enjoyed the bonus footage, despite how out of scale it was, maybe because of that ... Just a little niggle, when going through the build photos, it would be worth making the point that the prop should only go on after radio set up and testing. Keep up the great work!

      Thanks man! I kinda like having a trike gear in the hangar...so easy. Lol. It surprised me what it will do when you push it. Yep, that would be good to add on the prop. Really anytime you have a "live" electric on the bench it should be off.

    Fantastic review and presentation Adam! I had one of these very early on (the Blue one) and the overall design of the Cirrus never did anything for me. It seems to be the Tesla of the GA world; very advanced and chock FULL of safety features. I have the Commander. Its an amazing plane. I clocked it at 90mph. Lots of fun! If you're thinking of getting the E-flite RV7, don't. I've had it, and it sucks. Terrible reviews from many trusted people as well. I have the RV8, both 10e and 60e from Flex Innovations. They are some of the nicest planes on the market today. If you're in the market for an RV, check out the Flex ones, you won't regret it.

    • @ModelAV8RChannel
      @ModelAV8RChannel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Mike Hey Mike, just a couple of things to consider. First off...Flex makes great 3D/XA planes, and their RV-8 is no exception. That said, I think the review (s) you saw might not have realistic expectations of the RV-7. It is not, and was not designed to be anything but a sport/scale plane. It has more scale size control surfaces, a regular amount of throw, scale ailerons, and scale size gear with wheel pants. The Flex Rv-8 was designed by the godfather of 3D. It has oversize control surfaces, extreme amounts of throw, flap/aileron mixing capability to render full span ailerons, a longer tail moment, and gear designed to withstand a steady diet of harrier landings...so its also good for bush flying. It was purpose built for all of that. Expecting the RV-7 to compete with that at 3D, and to compete with that at bush flying with its small scale gear and wheel pants is a bit on the unfair side.
      We reviewed the RV-7...loved it. It flies fantastic...as a sport/scale plane. I mean no disrespect, but of course you can't get Flex performance form a plane that was never meant to do what Flex planes are made for. For me, it is about realistic expectations. We held the RV-7 to the standard it was designed and intended to meet, and it excelled. So, if what the pilot wants is a RV that is actually full on 3D/XA capable, then the Flex RV-8 is the plane to have. If a pilot wants an RV that is more scale looking, and flies very scale with sport aerobatic capabilities and a tumble or two, the RV-7 would be the plane to have. I guess what I'm suggesting is it doesn't suck at all when the expectations match the design. Anyway, just some food for thought. There are reviewers out there that say everything that can't do what they want it to do sucks. What it was designed for never enters into their thinking. In my opinion, respectfully, that is not a very fair way to assess a planes performance.

    Yet another great review of great plane Adam. The night flights were a little different - got to be good lights for that.
    Decades ago I had a Piper Cherokee hauled around by an OS40. Not so long ago when HobbyKing were competitive in the UK I dropped onto an offer on their 1.1m Cessna TTX. Loved flying it and learnt a lot with the flaps, until is was downed once too often by the appallingly badly designed unreliable multi-way connector between the body and the wings.
    Now this Cirrus really appeals, especially at 1.5m wingspan, and ticks a lot of boxes for me. This is another craft that I wish I had more hangar space for which to accommodate it.

    I flew mine the other day and it is so fun. Great to see you got one and great review. I would watch out for a few things. The rudder servo is plastic and mine broke after some grass landings. Replaced with a metal one and it has lasted so far. This plane will stall when you get really slow and in that respect the Cherokee is better. On landings it's so easy to have it bouncing should you just miss a little bit. The gears are so hard so not forgiving at all. On the other hand gears are holding up very good even after a bunch of botched landings. It is really a great plane! Closets comparison would be the E-Flite Air Tractor.

    • @ModelAV8RChannel
      @ModelAV8RChannel  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks man! We stall tested it and it will stall, but everything will if you get them slow enough. This one gets really slow before that happens though and is really controllable. I like the gear as well, didn't have any issues with bouncing on a good runway...I think that has a lot to do with how rough the runway is. It bounced on our grass, but a lot of planes do, its pretty rough.

    • @SunriseRCAviator
      @SunriseRCAviator ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ModelAV8RChannel After the first round of flights my first though was it wouldn't stall but with extensive flying it does stall and kinda ugly when it does. Now I only encounter this when flying close to the ground and well then there's hardly any way to save it. Thankfully it is a robust plane so barely any damage. I just flew my Cherokee today and man that plane never stalls doing the same low and slow pattern. If you haven't tried a Cherokee please do. It is nothing short of amazing.

    • @ModelAV8RChannel
      @ModelAV8RChannel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah if you get it all the way to a stall it drops the left wing. You can avoid that by staying smoother with the inputs. If you crank it around too quick when slow it will stall abruptly. You saw how well it flew really slow in our video, and it never bit us...that is because we were smooth with the inputs. It's not really a bad characteristic, its just the way this plane has to be flown slow. That is a good habit to form when getting any plane really slow to be honest. Quite a few models will do the same thing. The Cherokee is great, and has a much more benign stall because of the "Hersey Bar" wing design. This is true of the full scale as well. That is the most forgiving wing design in general aviation, but it's also why the Cherokee is a much slower plane in full scale as well. I really like the Cherokee because it looks more classic.

    • @SunriseRCAviator
      @SunriseRCAviator ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I learned to stay on the throttle a lot more. It was just that the Cirrus appeared to be flying so controlled and slow but then it bits you so something to be aware of for someone getting one :)

    • @ModelAV8RChannel
      @ModelAV8RChannel  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah Jay, Allen heads are great. Quite often though its a matter of what the factory in China has on hand. They buy millions at a time, so if they have a ton of Phillips in the right size, they are going to get their moneys worth and use them. With a Phillips, having the right size driver is key, and most people use one that is too small, and that causes stripping. If the driver will wiggle in the screw...its too small. It should be tight with no movement. You may already know that, but amazingly in my experience...most people don't know there are several different driver sizes for Phillips.

    • @ModelAV8RChannel
      @ModelAV8RChannel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Dave! So, clearly you have been watching my buddy Jon at TBRC. Great guy, but just keep in mind he wants to turn everything he flies into a 3D, extreme aerobatic monster. A lot of people watch that, and repeat what he's said. I'm not saying he's wrong, just that his earlier assessments of servos...based on what he's doing with the planes...maybe isn't necessarily fair. He realizes this, and has changed how he words things like that recently. Basically, if you want to fly like that, and subject the plane to a steady diet of super aggressive gyroscopic stuff maybe you need stronger servos. If you want to fly the plane the way it was intended, and for what it was outfitted for...sport scale flying, then the stock servos are fine in my opinion.

      The two are really similar. The lights are epic on both. Both are easy to fly when the set up is tame. When it isn't, the Cirrus will do KE spins and crankshafts...which was a total surprise to me. Other than that the Cherokee can do everything the Cirrus can do. For me personally it's the Cherokee all day. I just prefer the more classic planes. Same with cars.

Man you are the one looking at your telemetry, if it is too hot, get some more cooling to it. That is one of the great things about the SMART telemetry, you know your temps.

    • @ModelAV8RChannel
      @ModelAV8RChannel  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      With any new plane it is a good idea to get it up high and test that for yourself. There are so many variables. Weight (depending on battery used), balance point, and elevator throw differ from one pilot to another, and each one of those things can effect the stall characteristics. The only way for you to know what your plane/setup will do is to test it. Recovery is easy, just neutralize the controls, power up and ease it out.

    Ive never seen a plane set up with 4% down elevator for take off flaps and only 1% down on Landing Flaps that is odd to me????

    • @ModelAV8RChannel
      @ModelAV8RChannel  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey James. I like to fly scale as far as takeoffs and landings. The difference with this plane is in the power used at the two flap positions. The actual Cirrus uses a takeoff flap setting, so I do that with the model. On a scale takeoff I'm not at anywhere near full power, but the power setting is higher than the setting for a controlled approach for landing...its also higher (with this particular plane) than the setting to maintain slow flight. In both those situations I'm using the landing flap setting. So, simply put, the way I fly this plane, with takeoff flaps deployed I'm at a higher throttle setting and slightly higher speed...so there is more thrust/slipstream impacting the flaps and causing the plane to balloon. More down elevator compensation is needed to counter this.

      @@ModelAV8RChannel I too like long roll out actual scale looking take offs as well and when i watch all these youtube videos taking off straight up into the air after a 30 foot run out looks so redicules and cheezy, Even my lightest foam planes i alway add more weight to the nose and extend the run out with gradually popping up the tail and riding the mains for a long time...There is such a joy in making it look as real and scale as posible so im right there with you Addam Cheers too you

    Which one do you prefer between this one and the Beechcraft?

      Hmm, they are so different. They both fly very well but for me the classic always wins. I love the look of the D18, and would take it over any modern design.

    Cherokee flies better, more vertical power..

      Probably depends on who you ask. They both fly very well and have more power than you need really.

      @@ModelAV8RChannel Cherokee does not have good prop clearance. Commander is best of the three but no one has stock of that, maybe it's discontinued??
