The biggest difference between the interactions with the doctor and patient…in the US and UK, is their willingness to listen. Not just listening but also with a real interest. I have had many doctors here in the US and only one maintained a genuine interest in me and my family. I think that is so important and makes the patient feel at ease about sharing very personal information that they wouldn’t normally share. Even though it would affect their treatment. I am not sure why this is lacking here in doctors but it would very much help the patient.
