Was such an awesome and memorable commercial. I actually had a t-shirt with outlines of 3 ladies and a voice bubble that exclaimed "Where's the beef?"!
What a wonderful interviewer Bryant Gumbel was, not patronizing at all. He ought to have asked her to say, "Where's the beef?" at least three more times.
They had her at WrestleMania 2. She was supposed to say, "HERE'S THE BEEF!" at the start of the 20 man Battle Royale. She said it but unfortunately the mic wasn't working so nobody heard her :(.
When Clara died, the news announced it, and it became like a national day of mourning. (I'm not kidding. I remember it. I was a teen at the time). The closest comparison I could make, in terms of when a modern-day celebrity died and many people felt as if they had lost a relative and needed to take a moment to grieve, was when Grumpy Cat croaked.
America lost a great talented icon who said 3 words, "Where's The Beef" made her very famous and hilarious. She put Wendy's on the map to be more well known.
Back in the early 80, I knew this commercial was going to be controversial when I first saw it, It was cute. It won Clara Peller a role in the hilarious comedy " Moving Violation ".
Lovely woman. Miss her! Now you can understand why I befriend ladies in their 80s. They are straightforward and fun to be around. Good friends up for fun and lots of humor.
Three words Where's The Beef made her very famous. What a beautiful hearted and talented Lady but yet it's very extremely sad that she passed away from America. Rest in Peace Clara Peller America is actually going to miss you. Where's The Beef!!! 😩❤️😭🤗🤭☺️
I searched this out because someone brought up the commercials in a Facebook post. I had a "Where's The Beef" pajama outfit with a big hamburger that had a tiny beef patty. I wondered why Clara wasn't pictured on it.
My mom and I went to Wendy's in town yesterday to try on of there new lobster sandwich. There was hardly any lobster on it and she went up to the counter and without ven thinking said, "Where's the beef!" It was hilarious!
In my Barbie Basics stories, Hellen Richardson (Superstar Barbie 1977 and mother of Beatrice, who is I can be Movie Star Barbie 2010), met Clara Peller and Hellen laughed a lot watching her saying Where's the beef in Wendy's Commercials. Hellen showed her photos with Clara Peller to Beatrice and her grandaughters, Serena, Karina and Milena, who are Cool Blue Barbie 1997, Happenin Hair 1999 and Tie dye 1998. Since Milena is also an actress, she knew all about Clara Peller and her Wendy's Commercials.
I remember these commercials back in the day. They would never happen today. It's all about being healthy, low carbs, fancy salads, pretzel buns & being trendy & modern.
She even got a part in Moving Violations where she was driving on the runway and taxiway. At baggage claim they modified her phrase to "WHERE'S MY BAGS?!".
yes i see your point with the whole old people are on the internet but calling someone a "nasty little jew" even in writing when you have never even met the person is a little uncalled for correction a LOT uncalled for and if you have those very mean and rude opinions keep them to your self and if you dont have anything nice (or factual in your case) to say/write, don't write it, because words can hurt people.
Words sure can, yes! If a person is hurt by them, it is not always a case of being oversensitive, but being hurt at words at times means the one on the receiving end acknowledges it is wrong, and words are double edge swords, used to bless people or curse people. But sadly, today, a lot of folks refuse to watch what they say and people now celebrate mind speakers instead of polite speaking and knowing when silence is golden....
S.S. Big Bun should have been Big Bunns or even funnier S.S. Big Juggs; but then it would have to have been a milk commercial. Either way all big corp fast food heads are rolling in it, while shoving it to customers who believe they are getting a 'deal'.
I rather hear the phrase " Where's The Beef " 100 times in 10 minutes than the crap that's on the commercials today like the phrase "DOT COM " 15 times in a 1 minute commercial.
Clara was everywhere in 1984.
Rest in peace ms Clara you were hilarious 😇😇😇
She is sorely missed.
Finding her was striking gold...
well today marks the 30th anniversary of this commercial I feel like a kid again rest in peace Clara
When I was a toddler, I thought my great grandmother looked like Clara and used to call her Where’s the beef. Good memories!
What did she think of this "name"?
Good for her!! She's the sweetest Lady, Much Respect!!
Bless her, she's so sweet and funny.
Clara Peller (August 4, 1902 - August 11, 1987)

A kinder and more gentle era in America.
Yes it was!🚀✨🚀✨🚀
Sure, if you ignore the racism, the lack of disability rights, fewer women's rights, more gay hate, etc.
Clare Peller is my great grandma
Awesome. I never forgot her. I was 7 when this campaign started and it has never left me.
Jgoroff was she a woot in real life?
We loved her!! Never met her obviously, but she's a cultural icon. She helped define the early 80's for me has a young teenager.
Super cool
Oh lucky! She's adorable. 💜

Best best best commercial ever and forever 😂

How tragic.
She misunderstood every question, God bless her.
She was hard of hearing.
Thank you for posting this gem!
Wendy's sales shot up 31% in 5 weeks. The CEO said Clara did more for sales than the company had done in 14-1/2 years.
I actually remember seeing this live.. boy I feel really old now...

Grumpy Cat *DIED* ????? 😿
@@weirdthingstoeat7198 Unfortunately, yes, she did. :( I adored that character so much!!!

Josef Sedelmaier is older than her now. Time flies.
What a sweetheart.

Great commercials I used to love them
She reminds me of the vice principal at my old high school. She was like 80 and could never understand anything you asked her.
Rest in peace!!
She was a national treasure
What a sweet old lady & funny too. RIP.
I also remember her co-staring with Nedra Volz in the movie Moving Violations. She is really great
My mom and I went to Wendy's in town yesterday to try on of there new lobster sandwich. There was hardly any lobster on it and she went up to the counter and without ven thinking said, "Where's the beef!" It was hilarious!
2:56 first time I laughed out loud when watching a commercial
Clara and the other seniors were funny in the movie Moving Violations 😂.
In my Barbie Basics stories, Hellen Richardson (Superstar Barbie 1977 and mother of Beatrice, who is I can be Movie Star Barbie 2010), met Clara Peller and Hellen laughed a lot watching her saying Where's the beef in Wendy's Commercials. she seemed like such a nice lady
I remember these commercials back in the day. They would never happen today. It's all about being healthy, low carbs, fancy salads, pretzel buns & being trendy & modern.
Innocent and fun times, simple things made people chuckle... long lost on today's world unfortunately.
She even got a part in Moving Violations where she was driving on the runway and taxiway. At baggage claim they modified her phrase to "WHERE'S MY BAGS?!".
Wendy's rock and so does clara
Love it!
She's just great !
Bryant: Can you say where's the beef for me one time?
Clara: Sure, hand over a grand.
I’m not a Wendy’s fan but Clara’s commercial where she says her catchphrase is classic! I wonder if she still asks for beef 🥩 in heaven!
These ads were the best.
Old people are so cute when they get famous.
i love it...!
We need these old stern women raising todays Children...
Stern?
Love you Clara
Even though this woman was before my time, I'm sad she's not around.
I was wondering who this Clara Peller was.🙂
Save travels today?
I want to meet her
Fan mail? How did anybody get her address?! For that matter, how did she get the owner's phone number?
If you can't figure those out on your own, you are getting no help from me.
@@rogergoddard2153 😂 Me either!
Hahah I lie how wendys fired her for saying I found it on another commercial
Where's the hearing aid!!
She sure could have used one.
@JoeGutfeld why?
she was awesome lol
The "S.S. Big Bun". Are we sure that isn't Sir Mix-a-Lot's yacht?
Can't we trade in the obnoxious Chewbacca Mom for getting Clara Pellar back from the afterlife!? I think that's a good idea! ;)
She is more attentive than Sleepy Joe. Miss this "WOMAN"🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲💯💯💯
where's the heaven
Bryant Gumbel is quite dashing here.
Plot twist: she's a vegetarian
oh and stop adding more mean comments
me too
Wheres the beef
Clara took that secret to her grave.
80s meme queen
She’s buried in the same cemetery as my grandparents
died in august of 87

The original commercial was an old man.
S.S. Big Bun should have been Big Bunns or even funnier S.S. Big Juggs; but then it would have to have been a milk commercial. Either way all big corp fast food heads are rolling in it, while shoving it to customers who believe they are getting a 'deal'.
What does she owe them?
عجزهم يخرعن الجن. ياحليل عجزنا
@Jackass333303 Are you serious?
Pffff

Gumball and all these other interviewers are so annoying, they ask stupid questions they talk over the people they interview.
