      Isle of Man and Isle of Wight as well, no?
      I'm Irish, and even as a whole country, regardless of how small we are, we have so many differences in the way we speak and behave. :)
      For example, us people in the northern part are penny pinchers cut off from the outside world, the South has sheep farmers galore, and the big towns like Limerick and Dublin are full of junkies in tracksuits (except Dublin 4 where the posh people live). :P

      Are Crown Dependencies different to Commonwealth countries?

      @Emmet_Moore 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@cd55896 4 countries in the UK, Isle of Wight a part of England the way Anglesey is part of Wales.
      The Isle of Man and the Channel Islands are known as Crown Dependencies because they are constitutionally connected with the UK through the monarchy. It's weird and complicated because they're old and quite isolated. They're self-governing, pass their own laws and everything, but they rely on the UK for international relations and defence and have British Passports and, as you say, British culture.
      In most ways the 14 British Overseas Territories dotted around the world are the same - they're self-governing colonies. I think the main difference is that they actually have written constitutions, and places like the Cayman Islands are even more blatant tax havens than the Channel Islands.
      None of the above are part of the Commonwealth of Nations except as represented by the UK. The Commonwealth is a loose association of former colonies which are now independent. Some members recognise the Queen as Head of State, others are Republics. Not all former colonies are part of the Commonwealth (eg. Ireland, Burma, Yemen).

    I totally disagree with his comment about football, I'd even say it's the opposite.
    Football is massive in the UK, look at all the social media fan channels etc.
    Also the England team have performed better the last 4 years than they have for 30 years.

    • @SirCharlesLikesChurros
      @SirCharlesLikesChurros ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think that was the point. England has not won anything in over 50 years as a country. So everyone 30 years old or younger has grown up watching their fathers show pure disappointment and sadness every 2 years.
      The old heads grew up believing they were the best in the world as the creators of the sport, but after decades of nothing, no matter how much faith you have, some people will start to realize that maybe you are not as good as you think you were if you have nothing to back it up and will slowly watch less and less. Descendants are the ones who change their minds.
      If you are from Manchester and Liverpool, then sure, you probably grew up watching your team winning a champions league before 2010 at least, so that helps, but that's it.
      People between 10-30 vs 30-50 vs 50-70 years old. There's no comparisons in their "passion" for the game.
      You can't look at the last 4 years. You have to look at the decades of football in which British kids/teens grew up watching their team constantly losing without even reaching a semifinal. That's what gets stuck in your brain.

    To say Americans are a certain way is a mistaken stereotypes. The east coast is different than the midwest from the west coast from the southern from the northern. It's like different countries. This guy seems west coast. I'm midwest. This isn't midwest. Also this is only men. Some women are loud, but not really where I'm from, more not.
