Absolutely excellent! One of the BEST explanations of body measurements, bust cup sizing and pattern blending that I have heard. I look forward to the next video 👍🏾👏🏾
This was really excellent, easy to follow, understandable with examples, well done, Lauren :-) I always enjoy watching your videos, fabrics presentations are always interesting even though you don't deliver to my country yet. Looking forward to the next one 🙂
Oh my! There’s me thinking that it was just me when my body measurements change throughout the day. Thank you for putting my mind at rest in this. Great information throughout this video. Thank you for sharing. ❤❤
I am very new to dressmaking and find Lauren’s logical approach really refreshing, clear and concise and it takes the mystery out of some very old fashioned sewing terminology.
Brilliant video. This is all new to me. Clearly explained. Please teach us how to follow, lay out pattern pieces when were short on fabric cut and stitch a garment together.
What an excellent video 👏. You explain things so clearly and concisely. Really easy to follow and I’m looking forward to watching your other videos on the “dark art” of fitting 😆 Thank you so much Lauren x
Thank Lauren this has helped so much I took break from my sewing cause I got so frustrated at my projects failed at sizing looking forward to this series my main problem was in arm hole and back and front crotch area
I absolutely loved this video, it was excellent. So useful. I’m really looking forward to watching the videos in the rest of the series. It also made me want to book onto a course at g&g! Thank you Lauren 😊
Excellent presentation and clearly describing the process! I'm glad that you'll be adding to this series, there are so many little things that can add to making a garment great. Your point about re-measuring is really important- our bodies are constantly on the move (-;=
Thank you for this video. Did it become the first in a series? If so, is it possible to make a playlist of this series so we can find them more easily. If not, I’ll put in one vote for there being interest in more like this. Hope to visit the UK one day and your shop is top on the list.
Thanks Lauren, this is brilliant, so looking forward to the next ones. I always sew my sleeves it at the usual 5/8 seam allowance ( or whatever the pattern recommends ) and then end up doing them again by at least another 1/2 inch and sometimes more. I obviously need to be doing an adjustment somewhere but haven’t a clue where to start.
Thank you so much for taking the time to, so eloquently, share your knowledge. My issue is getting patterns to fit my under my bust - I do a FBA however i find that there is way too much fabric under my bust area.
Hello Sandie, it might be that, depending on the style, you could add in a dart under the bust to give more shape in the waist. Have you tried Cashmerette patterns before? They have options for dressmaker cup sizes within the patterns so it could be that you wouldn't have to do an FBA. I hope that helps :)
@@LaurenGuthrieGhani Thank you. With an upper bust of 36", full bust 39.5" and a waist of 34 ( protruding tummy) it does create challenges. I have seen Cashmerette patterns advertised but i have never purchased one. I will give them a try. PS love your channel.
Thanks for a super helpful video Lauren. Made lots of notes...however I have an old New Look Pattern that just has a bust measurement and not a high and full bust measurement. I'm wondering which of my bust measurements should I choose to use in this case?TIA xx
Hello, its likely to be referencing the full bust measurement if it doesn't specify and its also likely to be a dressmakers B-cup if it doesn't specify :)
Dressmaking shops can be humiliating. Insinuated I was a size 22 at 8 stone 1. I'm anorexic. Stay away. More or less I'd to have 15 inch legs or they were plus sized not nice.
This was an excellent presentation of beginning to fit garments. I’m looking forward to additional videos on this subject.

This was the best explanation of how to choose a size from a pattern. Very comprehensive & I feel much more confident now. Thanks so much.
Thank you Lauren. Really looking forward to your series on fitting.

Aw thank you Lauren ive really struggled with this ...i just recently realised i have narrow shoulders and largeish bust ...
Thank you for this video.
I have small shoulders, large arms and bust..... what video cover's garment making with odd upper body?

Thankfully you use inches. I wish more people did videos like this in inches.
