Some of these campaigns look and feel like true blue tabletop wargames virtualized, was not expecting this level of scale and meticulous production coming off of the Bruderkreig test run. Can’t wait to play these with friends over the course of a couple months like Axis and Allies.
Yeah, and unlike in SD2 the autoresolve is decently functional in WARNO, so you dont HAVE to fight every battle if you dont want to. So even Highway 66 can be finished :D
So this is something I learned just recently but the 11th ACR was actually just meant to stop PACT forces for as long as possible, even to the point of sacrificing the whole unit, to delay them and allow other units to deploy to the front
It is insane to think that the 11th ACR, being the elite formation that it was, was to act as a sacrifical pawn, because only such a unit with the cutting edge of American weaponry would last long enough to matter instead of suffering obliteration immediately once WW3 started.
Every hour of delay means whole units are formed and readied as reservists report in. Those units then hold until whole reforger divisions start landing. It's really a time game more then anything.
From the pact side they're a very nasty speed bump but if you're playing smart in Bruderkreig they won't slow you down at all. The new bridge map makes things harder than they were when the first campaign launched, but in forcing short-range engagements and utilizing your AT planes, it's still very possible to kill ~20 Abrams for the loss of 4-8 T55's, even on three stars.
That's so funny, I'm going to be going through Miltenberg next month for a wedding. I'll do what the Soviets could and bathe in the Main and the Franconian kitsch, UURAHH
The British Harriers in Left Hook are carrying AIM-9L air-to-air for self-defence. The last scenario is going to be massive. I still wish there was the capacity to drop bridges. Platforms like the Strike Eagle would be able to do it with ease using LGB/GBUs. I'm looking forward to this. I'd love this kind of co-op in UAD.
Yep, dropping bridges is one of my wishes as well. That would hugely change the battlefield. Not sure how they'd counter that unless they added some sort of engineering or bridging assets
@@4rnnr_as I'm always having an issue with cognitive dissonance in these games. It's a case of what I had to learn and research over the years versus what happens in-game. IRL, dropping bridges to slow down and funnel Pact forces was a given. As a result the Russians had entire engineering battalions dedicated to building assault bridges etc, that were to follow directly behind the main armoured elements. Their SAM/SHORAD/AAA threat was expected to reduce NATO CAS pilot life-expectancy to a maximum of 2 weeks. With Wild Weasel units of F-16, F-4, Jaguars heavily tasked to SEAD/DEAD just to allow the Strike Eagles and others to operate overhead long enough to kill the bridges, while A-10s ran interference up and down the autobahns chewing on armoured columns to slow them down.

The 'stands' on the East German and West German units are the wrong way round. East German units in the Fulda Gap scenario has the German 3 bar flag, but the west German stands also have the German 3 bar flag but also the central DDR gold communist motif. Hence, the wrong way round.
The 3-bar flag is upside down on the East German units as well with the yellow bar on top instead of black. Wanted to see if this was a general bug with all units on REDFOR, but he hammer and sickle for the Soviet units is right-side up.
What amazed me about the Highway 66 is each side has to reach 200 points. But with the number of units involved (and points for defeating such) plus the points for holds on the board, the campaign will still be only what 12-14 turns at most. Sure 12-14 massive turns but ... ouch. And you better learn how the AI thinks playing on the short and medium versions first. As based on the campaigns you did already, if you make a mistake in unit placement the AI will capitalize. So on a large map with this number of units the number of battles and potential for mistakes is also huge.
Well then, this should be excellent content for the rest of the year and for next year as well, since the devs are adding NORTHAG and SOUTHAG in 2 future DLCs. Looking forward to your playthroughs with your friends, both in keeping up with the latest episodes and then rewatching to find the crucial decision points that you didn't know at that time.
FOBs come only with Headquarter units, which there are few off on the battlefield. Though they get 4 Fobs each, so a LOT of ammo for any arty spamming combined with them. The Helicopter formation has CVs in form of helicopter CVs. The British will also get Buccaneer reinforcements in the left hook as a choice. I fought 150 Battles in testing the Highway 66 campaign, with autoresolve only, taking me around 8 h, if you play them all I would guess it would be 100h + you might want to consider autoresolving at least a few battles :D
So this is where we get the sequel to Stealth Vs. Sparky/Stealth-Sparky co-op? I really loved those two series, and occasionally pop them back on to rewatch highlights.
On American units the first number is the battalion the second is the regiment. So 1st battalion 5th infantry regiment reads as 1-5. For cavalry it is squadron instead of battalion.

i'm gonna refrein from starting from the big one and go with a more organic approach, i love this campaign, i really love coming from EE how they managed to get to a more realistic approach to strategic, the only things that still i don't like about warno is the more arcady and fast paced game stile compared to wargame and that with that campaign like in SDII we will only get an handful of maps while in reality we would need 15 if not 20, the dream would me a somewhat map generator counting the average stats of (hills, city and plains) in a certain zone of the map and creating a map with these values
