Haha! Everybody was asking, if there is anything Dan can not do. He is a skilled gardener, he can do all sort of renovations and he is a trained cook. Yet he can not change his boys nappy! That is just classic.
Haha I despise food shopping as well. Love it when the boys and Annalise are in the videos. Glad Jack had a great day. Brings back memories 🥰 Hope you get the door sorted.
Only 17 seconds in and I'm stopping to tell you guys that big love for getting the chandelier in the shot! You know you guys weren't going to get through this vlog all the way without shouts of joy to see the elusive sparkly chandelier! xxxxx
Again, another down to earth, very natural family production Dan! I absolutely love your laid back nature and of course your whole little family is so precious....stinky or not!!!
That is such great news about the vaccines! I'm sorry about the door and weather set back. I'm so glad Jack had such a good first day. It's hard letting them go. Annalise, I'm proud of you.
I hope your door dilemma is just a temporary set back Dan. Little by little it will all come together. Hang in! Good luck with the merchandise venture. Thanks for the video.🙏🏻❤️
Yes you can. Our front porch, the double door /french door open outwards. The wooden door inwards. The back conservatory opens outward to make space. Turn it around... The square frame and the door. You need to anchor the green house.
It would be great if you could find (or construct) double doors (dare I say... French doors?) that are half the width, then they'd have plenty of space to open inward. Also, you're joking about not changing certain nappies, right?
Do u c some self sabotage going on here? Dan: "Honey, what do I do next?" Annalise: "Just get out of the way I'll do it myself. DAN, What Did U Do?" Yah, I've seen this a time or two myself!
For your door, firstly, can you return it and swap it for a sliding door? Secondly if, as you said in the video, you were thinking of installing it 'wrong-way-round', the glazing beads tend to be on the inside to provide a better rain-proofing detail and for security. You can pop the glazing beads out with a screwdriver so having them on the outside is not a great idea. Whenever I design a porch I set the outside and the inside doors at least 2 metres apart. This is so you can enter into the porch and close the outside door(s) behind you before opening the inner door(s). Basically, the porch acts as an airlock. With what you've built, it is way too shallow, you may find you have to open both sets of doors to get into the house. You will have to go into the house past the inner door to turn round to close the outer doors. This might not seem important in summer but in winter you'll get a gale of cold air blowing into your house ever time you go in or out, or when you open the door to speak to a caller. Which in turn is not only annoying and uncomfortable but is costly in terms of heating bills. In your position I'd consider building a bigger porch. As the saying goes "Short-term pain for long-term gain". BUT I'm not aware of all the things that have influenced your decisions so I hope you work it out. Not criticising, just trying to be helpful :) Best of luck !
@@escapetoruralfrance Ah Gotcha :) I have to say I have a 'thing' for porches, I always use them as an airlock at the front and rear of the house, sometimes the rear porch will double as a boot-room and/or a utility-laundry room as well. They are very useful if you are trying to achieve Passivhaus standards of air-tightedness etc. Best wishes :)
How about a bifold door! Happens to the best of us.... Its called honing your fabulous skills. 🥳💝 The initial Kitchen shot of that wall you repointed and the chandelier was exceptional.👏👏👏 xxx
I don't know you, never been to France or England. I am sitting here in tears that you two will be able to get your shots! You guys are precious. That Chandelier is SPECTACULAR!
I can not believe you can not open the doors, it reminds me of myself so excited about getting things done I do not properly go through all the procedures but I am learning fast as it can cost you a lot more to put right. Lovely to Annalise again hope you both get vaccinated soon I have had my first one but was very ill, sick, headaches so I am not looking forward to my second one. Your little boys are so sweet, I remember those nappies days well, my son is 25 years today so it is a long time a go I changed his nanny ha ha, lot forward to catching up with you next video. xx
Can't find the merchandise. Oh I hope you can work out the doors it'll be a really great sense of accomplishment for you and Annalise to have that side finished!
Does Jack ever have a bad day? He always seems to be living life on the bright side! Hope Dan will be able to work the door situation out...bummer if not!
I love hydrangeas. You should get some hibiscus too. Marigolds keep bugs away from your other plants because they stink so bad the bugs can't stand it.
Honestly Dan, once I saw what you were doing at the entry, I was wondering why you didn’t come out farther. It looks like you’ve got yourselves all boxed in and won’t be able to move inside once it’s complete. Is there anyway that you can come out farther several feet? I know it’s an expense, but just wondering.
To find the face masks I clicked on the circle picture next to where it says the number of subscribers which goes to the channel page and there was a tab called “Store”, the face masks were there.
You should seriously check out Garden Answer. They I believe are the same zone as yourself or close. I think Hydrangeas need about 6-8 hrs of sun a day. You'll not be sorry investing time in watching their channel.
But I want to be in the video! “ Dads not allowed to do bum changes”??? That’s gotta change Annalise 😝 all Dads should do bum changes, especially really stinky sloppy ones they should be saved up just in time for Dads!!!
I have to say it. I've been watching all the chateau channels here on youtube, and it seems to be a common theme... Lack of planning and measuring!! I don't get it... Are there no building codes there? at 16, I worked for an architect. I knew since then that outlets, and switches have standard heights. Wall studs are 16" apart on center. Lights hang at certain levels based on ceiling height. All doors open in, except closets. standard doors are 28-34 inches wide. etc. When it comes to decorating, do people not plan it out....? Before we switch apartments, I always measure it then I draw it out. If a piece of furniture won't fit, we don't take it. This time our dining room was large enough so i knew that we could add a sideboard. I knew our king bed was too big for our bedroom, so there was only one way to put it in our room (that saved time when moving in). Each girl has a vanity, so we knew which room would fit all their furniture before (vs boys with less furniture). I just can't wrap my head around wasting money by having to do something more than once, or worse, having to pay someone else to fix it.... Rant over ;) lol.
All “do it yourselfers” have realized they should have planned better. I always double check my hubby before I let him MODIFY anything. Sometimes it takes someone else’s perspective on solve a problem. Good luck!
We are now on our 4th polytunnel 2 of which were ruined by wind. I hope you didn't lose yours? We have secured ours really well this year and intend on leaving it in place now. Goid luck!

There are garages you can pay to take care of the paperwork, usually its over 1000 euros to change over, and possible now import tax on top, depends how much your car is worth, cars are a lot more expensive here than UK

Hello from Singapore 👋🏻, saw you drinking from a Raffles Hotel Singapore mug at the start of your video 😀
Hi! I was there for work for a while !
It is not just France where windows open inwards, here in Switzerland as well. With outward opening windows you'll need a window cleaner...

You can just build a little bit wider porch so, that you can open the door inwards
Can you use that door in the mudroom extension and get a shorter one for the front
You could put a sliding door instead of the hinged ones?

The reason why doors open outward is for safety issues if you have to get out quickly.
Why do other countries like Norway, etc, open out? In US, mobile homes had outward opening doors.
