As someone who work in the hotel industry, there is a constant war over breakfast options and robes. Managers would travel around the country at least once a month to a different better ranked hotel to check out the competition, and would steal manufacturer's contacts to upgrade their own supplies. We upgrade every 2 years on areas deemed not up to standard to keep up with customer demand.
Marriott hotels always have a copy of my favorite fan fiction, The Book of Mormon, in addition to the Holy Bible. They win the literature amenities
award.

As an amenities company from nyc I am always looking to have my clients one up the surrounding hotels or residential buildings with amazing add on’s. It’s a never ending war.
In hotels I've stayed at recently, I've seen an egregious trend of tacking an additional "amenities fee" on top of the price of the room. The rooms aren't cheaper, they're just literally raising the price to get you to pay for the same amenities a second time. If that wasn't bad enough, some amenities fees go towards "minibar credit" allowing you to take things from the minibar "for free" up to a certain amount. That's right, you're paying extra to have some of that money given back to you in a lesser form, that can only be spent on grossly overpriced products you don't even want. Not only that, the products can be priced in a way that is impossible to take exactly the offered value (e.g. products costing $8 and $12 when they give you $10 credit) forcing you to leave credit unspent, or go over and have to spend extra.
Such a weird topic for a video essay. I like it!

@@ThomasFlight It's an episode where two characters (grown men, no less) have a fight between their pillow and blanket forts, respectively. But the catch is that it's all done is the style of a Ken Burns documentary with narration by Keith David.

My favorite amenity is DoubleTree Hilton's free chocolate chip cookies.
"How to win a war"
The very important goal of a hotel is to make their guest the best feeling while staying in. A lot of amenities are offered on different hotel establisments to give their guest the SATISFACTION; cleanliness, luxury, service. They are competitive to be known . As for me, as long s the hotel gives me the comfort and provides great service. I will be satisfied even if it is not luxurious.

btw, film grain seems to really screw with picture quality on youtube
It does a bit, although in this case, it's more often me using the film grain to "try to" cover over the low-resolution footage/photos I had available.
@@ThomasFlight Well, the changes in quality from clip to clip weren't that noticeable. I guess it means that either the grain trick worked, or I paid much more attention to the narrative.
