Um...I'm 53 and I remember them coming out right after Beastie Boys, but I rocked with them too. You heard the hook "What's the time?" is a Beastie Boys hook. Make no mistake 3rd Bass and MC Search is STILL the MAD SHIZZLE

I Remember when 3rd base came out. I was a metal head (still am) and they grabbed me. Loved the hooks/beats.
Beasties started as a joke album , I guess punk music wasn’t working for them until they created originality and history.

As someone who grew up in this era I can positively tell you THESE GUYS WERE TOO FAR AHEAD OF THEIR TIME. The hip hop fanbase wasn’t ready to accept and give a white group their props unfortunately. Had they come out around late 90s early 2000s , we’d be talking about them in the same breath as Eminem, Jay-Z. Pete Nice was cold as hell with his craft and Serch was so highly regarded that HE WAS ASKED TO GHOST WRITE FOR RAKIM!!!! How INSANE is that?!! Imagine the shock/ backlash if it was known that they wrote for the man who is widely considered to be the greatest lyricist of all time before Tupac and B.I.G?!!! 💪🏾🇺🇸🔥🇺🇸🔥🇺🇸🔥✊🏿

@Lashawn Barber Barber not really. This was my era and I was big into rap , hip hop , ect. Back in these days the people busting these lyrics were looked at under a microscope. The word "Poser" was just coming out and most rappers were speaking about the streets the came from. I think the fact that they were a couple of privileged Jewish kids coming from wealth hurt their images. Personally I think if you can rap and it's good then it shouldn't matter if you're from Mars. But I think that's why they really didn't get over. But despite all this they were definitely popular when they came out. They just didn't last like Dre , Snoop , Rob Base , KRS1 , ect

3rd Bass is not underrated. They were corny. Search gets props for bringing Nas to the forefront but that’s about it. They look corny, dances were corny, beats were weak. You couldn’t quote me ONE dope bar they spit, let alone an entire verse. They were a white parody of Kid n Play. Just because they remind you of “back in the day” let’s not act like people were feeling them back in the day - we weren’t. Just like we clowned The Fat Boys and people today want to act like they were dope. 😂
