I hear you and agree it’s wise advice as the training may be (is likely to be) more difficult if we’ve not followed the wisdom of Proverbs for a long period. BUT (and it’s a huge but (no pun intended)), it is NEVER too late - God can redeem what the locusts have eaten - God can restore - it’s easy for men to get taken out by making the agreement that it’s too late, too hard or the idea that the ship has already sailed. I’ve done this at times - it’s easy to fall prey to - but it’s not true. God has the final say - and training our kids continues into their adulthood, so long as we are willing to invest the time and hard work into building and maintaining relationships with them, even when it’s one-sided for long periods of time. Don’t give up - God made those kids for you and YOU for those kids!!
God will reward those who do right, He will also discipline those who do wrong. It is your job to know what it says for you to do and do it, if you don't you will pay the price and don't expect God to reward you or overlook your lack. He rewards the diligent but the lazy are always wanting and never having.
