    I've had one of these for a week now, but so far I've only used it on a couple of short test rides. The unit seems pretty well-designed with just the right functionality. Very pleased with it. However, the same can't be said for the Cycliq desktop software for the Mac, which just doesn't work well, and which crashes when some of the options are chosen, like 'delete a video segment', or 'overlay fit file data'. Strava data overlay always seems to be wrong too.

      Yes I’m happy with the build and functionality. The mac software for sure can be improved, at least they got the unit right first and not the other way around.
      The stability has improved a lot from the fly CE - very important when capturing details like number plates etc.

    Can you do another video that shows the video quality from the camera during a ride?

    • @Roadsidecycling
      @Roadsidecycling  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ll try get a video out soon with some user experience.
      The clip at the start of this video is using basic video settings default on the fly 12 which is 720p.
      There are two higher resolution options available to select above that, 1080 & 4K.

    Hey man, I have a Canyon Aeroad with the Aero Cockpit. Am I still able to fit the front light / camera under my Garmin?

    • @Roadsidecycling
      @Roadsidecycling  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely - you just need to buy the correct mount. I recommend K edge IHS combo mount. It’s designed for integrated cockpits like your canyon has.

      So is a Canyon! 😅 you can find cheaper ones on Amazon :) just look for the same two bolt mount style! X

    Thanks for a great video. I received mine and agree it looks great. I've still to use it but have read the user guide and one thing I already love is the function that is no longer there, Cycliq appear to have removed the home safe function which is a great improvement, it drives me mad that the Fly 12 and Fly 6 turn the camera off with 12% battery left even though I have all lights disabled, so effectively reducing useful camera battery life by 12%. I'm looking forward to using it. Also the camera looks better protected below the handle bar so I will try that orientation, a Fly 12 that I had mounted above the handlebar was unhappy when hitting the floor after a car decided to drive straight into me ... the footage was still very good though🥴.

    • @Roadsidecycling
      @Roadsidecycling  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes so far so good, the 12 is 100% best under the handlebar using the computer mount. I dropped the rear light the other day on the road and zero scratches! I’m happy with the stabilising improvements on the video too. Much much better. Let me know how you get on with your experiences.

    How are the recordings on night rides?

    • @Roadsidecycling
      @Roadsidecycling  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      With the light on low or high mode, it’s very clear. I will demonstrate in my next cycliq user experience video.

    • @Roadsidecycling

      That’s correct - or place card in a sd card reader. I prefer this way.

    The App - 'Pretty cool' have you used it ? - it just plain doesn't work. Also the bracket is pretty poor for a £300 light.
    The Cyliq light scores heavily on battery life and the fact you don't need a separate light. There are downsides though - (reliability and customer support) Can't help thinking you review is overly favourable - for instance you haven't mentioned the light isn't as powerful at the CE model - or that you can't review footage on your phone.

    • @Roadsidecycling
      @Roadsidecycling  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have used the app and found it to work perfectly fine. I like being able to toggle off and on the different light/video settings based on what I’m using it for (race footage or general riding).
      I haven’t had any issues with the brackets. What have your experiences been like?

    • @peterrollason8319
      @peterrollason8319 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Roadsidecycling I meant trying to edit or overlay footage in the desktop app - doesn't work. The Plastic brackets often snaps as mine did (a quick google will confirm this) - The light isnt as bright as the previous version (the specs will confirm this)

    • @Roadsidecycling
      @Roadsidecycling  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh I see, yes I’ve read the same issues. I think in the future this will be improved as now the unit can be considered an action cam. I
      still think the light is bright enough. I usually use a lezyne 400 as my front and I’ve not been disappointed. The sun is up pretty early here in Aus so I only need the light on for an hour or so and the medium brightness setting works for me then.

    Seems to be less noisy than its predecessor, would be interesting to see under lower light conditions. Image stabilization is awful judging by this. What sucks is that it's far from 4K, unlike advertised, and even at its much lower max resolution it can only do 24fps. For comparison: a (cheaper) GoPro Hero8 Black from 2019 does actual 4K@60fps, with great image stabilization.

    • @Roadsidecycling
      @Roadsidecycling  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The GoPro does have great res output but the battery life :( no match for this unit. I’ve found 1080 at 60fps is more than enough. I used the unit in a gravel race on the weekend starting at 5:30am, it was very good under the low light condition @1080 in terms of visual but unsure how it would go capturing number plates etc in low light.

    You spend half the video saying that you don't know what things do. Not a review at all, just footage from cycliq website and an unboxing with no information.

      I mean it does say Unboxing and First look in the title but hey, I could have improved this video in a number of ways. Any questions I can answer about the product? I’ve been using it for about 10 months now, happy to answer any Q
