What a well executed video. So many beauty gurus will say "let me know if you want swatches or comparisions" when they do unboxing videos (videos I enjoy) that never happen. The only other time I saw the nars concealer collection swatched was in sponsored videos. I'd love to see you do more of these videos:)

I just bought the Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer in the shade Biscuit. It's rather hard for someone with a medium/dark skin to find a concealer or any foundation really that has a neutral tone to it. Most of the shades in other brands would usually only have medium/dark that is too golden-y. So thats a plus for Nars. It also feels very lighweight, sometimes i forget im even wearing any. On my combination skin I don't find the need to prep my skin that much, so maybe those who have rather dry skin wouldnt find it that hassle free. However I too find that this concealer does break up after 4-5 hours -but i feel thats normal when you live in a hot and humid country such as Malaysia + if you have combo skin, and it does not pin-point conceal very well unless you have the time to spend some time on it. So i would recommend Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer if finding your shade is rather hard in other brands (Mac prolongwear was too yellow for my skin, no drugstore concealers has my shade, at least in Malaysia that is) and if you don't have dry skin. Would love to try out Tarte Shape Tape next time, should they expand their shade range. And urm, maybe the Sensual Skin Enhancer as well. We'll see well see. Thanks Karima for the comparison!

After your review, I went and purchased the Nars Soft Matte concealer for my face. I'm 52 and needed a concealer for bruising caused by fillers and based on your description, I thought it would be perfect... I wore it all day today and it's perfect for this. I just applied it to my T-zone and did not need foundation at all. Absolutely looks like skin and found the perfect color match with vanilla (I'm NC15, very green and yellow). So glad I watched your video because I trust your opinion. Thanks for the best reviews on TH-cam and you are so fun to watch.

Hallelujah!! I think we have very similar skin tone so I'll definitely go with light neutral as a close colour and light sand as a highlight! Yay!! I loved this video. I use the Tarte Shape Tape myself. I am a very fair skinned 56 year old, and although my skin is good, naturally I do have to worry about adding 'crepiness' to my eye area, or highlighting lines. I think Shape Tape is brilliant and I agree that it sets really well so you don't have to over powder (another big plus for us old gals)! I have normal/combination skin. Your skin is ABSOLUTELY gorgeous! I don't think I would cover it with any foundation or concealer if I was lucky enough to have skin like yours! It is beautiful! BUT, I know every skin has little things that you REALLY don't want exposed. Your color swatches are really great and show the texture and range of colors. I am glad you gave the little warning about making sure to moisturize and warm and press it to keep it from looking dry. Nice video! Good job!

Having sampled through quite literally all the hyped-up concealers in the past few years I can say that these two products outperform most products on the market, on oily skin too. Without even knowing I've replaced all the other concealers I've been trying and been using exclusively these two. What I really learned in the past two years is that whether a product is designed for dry or oily skin doesn't really matter that much. It's the application and prep that makes a bigger difference. If something has outstanding performance on oily skin chances are it's going to be great on dry skin as well. And yes Shape Tape does have a huge shade range problem and oxidizes like crazy--within two months you can see the color change in the tube. Both are irritating problems but until a better cream concealer formula comes out I'll have to keep buying shape tapes and mix different shades together.

As someone who is very dry and pink undertones with dark dark dark circles.....I use the Nars. I tried the shape tape and it was to yellow for my skin. After it oxidized it turned slightly orange. I love both the matte nars and creamy in the shade Vanilla when I want Natural or Chantilly when I want bright under eyes. Your video is great Karmia. Glad I came across it.
Yesss new video! And I've been debating the new NARS! I love the shade range they offer, however I think I don't need it because I don't think it'll work on my undereyes...I was actually trying to find any comparisons to the Kevyn Aucoin SSE in how it works on blemishes, so I'm so glad you mentioned that! I should have known nothing would compare to the coverage of the SSE :). Also, the Burberry looks amazing on you, really enjoying the formula of those. Brilliant Violet is my favorite.
This was the most informative review of both of these concealers that I've seen so far 🙌🏻 I have both concealers, and an oily skin type and still find all your pro/cons to be true - I like the shape tape better even though the shade range is difficult. The NARS creases more under the eye and doesn't cover spots any better than average. You've just confirmed my decision to return the NARS.

I found the OG Nars concealer in Custard to be waaaay too drying for my under eyes so I am scared to try the soft matte... which leads me to the question: what emollient moisturizers do you use/recommend to prep? Your videos are always well executed; perfectly pitched.... quite Eldridge-esque....which I enjoy and prefer as opposed to ranting, superfluous "oh I can't speak today" grammatically literate TH-camrs. That sounded terribly snobby. Oh well, I don't claim to be otherwise. I think the Nars concealer looked more natural on you than the Tarte concealer. Additionally, I don't find the Nars concealer to be drying at all; the key is to warm it between your fingers before applying: the sales assistant at Space NK explained to me that this concealer has some kind of technology that adjusts to the movement of the skin....or something like that (now who's waffling lol). I have normal/oily skin and I love the NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer! I work at Sephora and we just had the NARS representative in our store they other day and he was saying that the concealer does have blurring technology to help smooth the appearance of pores so you're right about that (:
This video was so comprehensive, you really explained things in depth. I use the radiant creamy concealer in Chantilly and love it on my normal sometimes oily skin. I have intense folds on my under eye and I don't even have to set it

Have you had any issues with camera "flashback" with the tarte shape tape? I have been using lancome effarnes in porcelaine I for years, but tried the tarte one recently because I could use more coverage on my dark circles. I loved the coverage, but the flashback is an issue. I am very fair too. Thank you!
I got combination skin and usually agreed with hyped products but when i received the shape tape i wasnt that over it as an under eye concealer it emphasized EVERYTHING n also my skin was quite dry then so the way i preferred to use it only then was like coverfx drops way better mixer to lighten or darken or just give more coverage to ur foundations is amazing like that even with a matte foundation but again as under eye concealer i didnt loved it and was surprised so many dry skin youtubers loved it for their under eyes n i found that using with a dewy or moisturizing base it looked n blended so flawlessly so yea if u think it just doesnt work for u try hydrating well ur skin or simply use it with a more emollient base work like a charm n ill recommend it over the coverfx which it dried out without using in less than 3 months, now curious by the nars with those peachier undertones
Loved the video, very professional and covered everything for both products! I have pretty normal under eyes, but combo skin for the most part. I actually prefer the soft matte because the tarte seems to slip and slide on me even after I set it with powder. And I have huge pores so any product that smooths and hides them is a holy grail for me. Another note is I wear glasses everyday and the shape tape doesn't handle the plastic frames very well. There will be indentation marks within one hour of putting on my glasses where as the nars is a real trooper. It will be a solid 4 hours before indentations appear. This is just my opinion and what works well my chemistry. Love your video though, new subscriber :)
Lovely review Karima! I have the NARS concealer you featured and I love it. It applies best on me with a finger - I think the warmth helps it melt into my skin seamlessly. I have had trouble in the past with concealer creasing badly under my eyes, so I tend to need to set liquid concealers with a lot of powder. I find that I barely have to whisk powder over this NARS concealer and it hardly creases at all! My skin is normal to dry with oil on my nose and chin.
I enjoyed hearing the comparison. I'm waiting for my Shape Tape to arrive. I couldn't decide for a few days which I wanted to try first and I'm glad now that I chose Shape Tape.

Ive just used the NARS and love it. Tarte shape tape is only online in the UK so Ive never gotten to try it as I like to try before I buy, but am keen to try it with all the hype
I've been looking into Shape Tape swatches for hours now and I'm still none the wiser. Shade range is so confusing, and taking into account that everything oxidises on me its likely to be a complete waste of money. It’s only available online here in the UK, so i can’t even go to a store to test the colours. I was convinced that medium is a safe bet, but in your swatch it’s actually quite dark (thank you for the great lighting and video clarity!). I think i’m going to try the Make-up Revolution concealer dupe instead. It’s only make-up at the end of the day but it’s frustrating when there’s so much guess work involved. Thanks for creating a really helpful video.

The Shape Tape was ultra drying under my eyes! Saying that, after watching your video, I'm thinking I might need to give it another chance!

Yesss new video! And I've been debating the new NARS! I love the shade range they offer, however I think I don't need it because I don't think it'll work on my undereyes...I was actually trying to find any comparisons to the Kevyn Aucoin SSE in how it works on blemishes, so I'm so glad you mentioned that! I should have known nothing would compare to the coverage of the SSE :).
Also, the Burberry looks amazing on you, really enjoying the formula of those. Brilliant Violet is my favorite.

This was the most informative review of both of these concealers that I've seen so far 🙌🏻 I have both concealers, and an oily skin type and still find all your pro/cons to be true - I like the shape tape better even though the shade range is difficult. The NARS creases more under the eye and doesn't cover spots any better than average. You've just confirmed my decision to return the NARS.

Just found your channel because of this video and just bought the Tarte I have dry and super dark under eye with sun spots and fleckles. shape tape is the first to do the job completely for me 😊
I’m super dry too and shape tape matte doesn’t make my under eyes look dry or cakey
I use the Tarte Shape Tape in light neutral and work all day and it puts up so well and looks natural. I love your accent! I'm combo skin btw. 😊

I loooove the shape tape. I have normal to slightly oily skin. It is hands down the best concealer I've ever tried. I think it does a great job on blemishes as well!

Karima, you're my skin twin as I'm a fellow green person w dry skin LOL. I found the OG Nars concealer in Custard to be waaaay too drying for my under eyes so I am scared to try the soft matte... which leads me to the question: what emollient moisturizers do you use/recommend to prep? If you could do an updated skincare series, I would be SO grateful. I love you!!

Your videos are always well executed; perfectly pitched.... quite Eldridge-esque....which I enjoy and prefer as opposed to ranting, superfluous "oh I can't speak today" grammatically literate TH-camrs. That sounded terribly snobby. Oh well, I don't claim to be otherwise. I think the Nars concealer looked more natural on you than the Tarte concealer. Additionally, I don't find the Nars concealer to be drying at all; the key is to warm it between your fingers before applying: the sales assistant at Space NK explained to me that this concealer has some kind of technology that adjusts to the movement of the skin....or something like that (now who's waffling lol). I have normal/oily skin and I love the NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer! I work at Sephora and we just had the NARS representative in our store they other day and he was saying that the concealer does have blurring technology to help smooth the appearance of pores so you're right about that (:
This video was so comprehensive, you really explained things in depth. I use the radiant creamy concealer in Chantilly and love it on my normal sometimes oily skin. I have intense folds on my under eye and I don't even have to set it

Have you had any issues with camera "flashback" with the tarte shape tape? I have been using lancome effarnes in porcelaine I for years, but tried the tarte one recently because I could use more coverage on my dark circles. I loved the coverage, but the flashback is an issue. I am very fair too. Thank you!

I got combination skin and usually agreed with hyped products but when i received the shape tape i wasnt that over it as an under eye concealer it emphasized EVERYTHING n also my skin was quite dry then so the way i preferred to use it only then was like coverfx drops way better mixer to lighten or darken or just give more coverage to ur foundations is amazing like that even with a matte foundation but again as under eye concealer i didnt loved it and was surprised so many dry skin youtubers loved it for their under eyes n i found that using with a dewy or moisturizing base it looked n blended so flawlessly so yea if u think it just doesnt work for u try hydrating well ur skin or simply use it with a more emollient base work like a charm n ill recommend it over the coverfx which it dried out without using in less than 3 months, now curious by the nars with those peachier undertones

Loved the video, very professional and covered everything for both products! I have pretty normal under eyes, but combo skin for the most part. I actually prefer the soft matte because the tarte seems to slip and slide on me even after I set it with powder. And I have huge pores so any product that smooths and hides them is a holy grail for me. Another note is I wear glasses everyday and the shape tape doesn't handle the plastic frames very well. There will be indentation marks within one hour of putting on my glasses where as the nars is a real trooper. It will be a solid 4 hours before indentations appear. This is just my opinion and what works well my chemistry. Love your video though, new subscriber :)
Lovely review Karima! I have the NARS concealer you featured and I love it. It applies best on me with a finger - I think the warmth helps it melt into my skin seamlessly. I have had trouble in the past with concealer creasing badly under my eyes, so I tend to need to set liquid concealers with a lot of powder. I find that I barely have to whisk powder over this NARS concealer and it hardly creases at all! My skin is normal to dry with oil on my nose and chin.
I enjoyed hearing the comparison. I'm waiting for my Shape Tape to arrive. I couldn't decide for a few days which I wanted to try first and I'm glad now that I chose Shape Tape.

Ive just used the NARS and love it. Tarte shape tape is only online in the UK so Ive never gotten to try it as I like to try before I buy, but am keen to try it with all the hype

A really informative video. Sadly we don't get Tarte here in Germany, so I have no chance to swatch it any time soon.
I've been looking into Shape Tape swatches for hours now and I'm still none the wiser. Shade range is so confusing, and taking into account that everything oxidises on me its likely to be a complete waste of money. It’s only available online here in the UK, so i can’t even go to a store to test the colours. I was convinced that medium is a safe bet, but in your swatch it’s actually quite dark (thank you for the great lighting and video clarity!). I think i’m going to try the Make-up Revolution concealer dupe instead. It’s only make-up at the end of the day but it’s frustrating when there’s so much guess work involved. Thanks for creating a really helpful video.

Custard is deeper than Shape Tape Light Neutral, you'd probably be closer to Medium (or even light medium, which I didn't have to swatch). xx

Interesting to hear your viewpoints- love your videos and how informative you are! I find that the NARS concealer is far more forgiving on my dry skin, especially under the eyes. The Shape Tape was ultra drying under my eyes! Saying that, after watching your video, I'm thinking I might need to give it another chance!
