Here are a few tips on making this milk tea crepe cake, not covered in the video or instructions. The Cooking Tree videos are wonderfully calming but they don't tell you what size pans they're using to cook with. My cake turned out delicious but I was expecting a taller cake, with more crepe layers. 1. Double the batter to make sure you can make enough crepes for a cake as tall as what's in the video. 2. If you don't double the batter, make sure you fry the crepes in a pan no larger than 8" in diameter. (It's safer to make more batter.) 3. If you want a stronger milk tea flavor in the cream, don't add Earl Grey. 4. It's not clear what "Earl Grey powder" is. There's no such thing in the U.S. except what's used to make boba tea. I'd rather use real Earl Grey leaves. Steep the leaves in the hot milk, and make sure to strain the leaves out before you mix the milk into the rest of the crepe batter. 5. Instead of mixing the crepe batter by hand, use a blender. It'll dissolve the flour and emulsify the butter better. After blending, let the batter sit in the fridge for a couple of hours to let any air (bubbles) escape.
Hi, im from indonesia and one of the cafe here sell thai tea mille crepes with some thai tea sauce. and guess what? It taste absolutely amazing!!! Gonna try this recipe and i hope the taste is quite similar
Its actually became a popular dessert in Southeast Asia and China last year :v you could look for milktea cake videos on youtube, normally the cream is much more liquid and it will drip itself on the cake, create a lovely lava effect :))))

looks totally amazing! here's the tip: if you add a little bit of a cooking oil in the dough then the crepes will not stick to the pan and they'll feel less oily :3 love your videos, i'm planning to try some of your recepies in the future
Expiration date doesn't say the milk is undrinkable after the date. Taste it. If it tastes like milk, it is totally fine. If it tastes a little sour, it can be used in crepes. Just add a little baking soda, like a teaspoon to 1 liter milk.

aesthetic as always, and I'm sure very delicious. I think crepe cakes have a much better texture and and overall structure if you do thinner layers of cream between crepes. There are some really thick cream layers here, which is fine, but you can see how the crepes look uneven after cutting into the cake because theres so much cream between layers
I made this for my friends' birthday! Unfortunately I overmixed the batter and the texture came out chewy :( but the taste was really nice!! The fragrance of the Earl Grey tea is nice and the cream is also not too sweet! Thanks for the recipe ❣️❣️
A great way to get all the lumps without over mixing is to make it in a blender! Or just forget about the lumps and once it's mostly mixed pour it through a sieve to strain them out
one very helpful tip to anyone who wants to make this - when you are cooking the crepes, have a bowl of ice water next to you and then right before you flip it, dip your fingers in the water until you can’t feel them no more, dry your finger off and then use your fingers to flip the crepe. I learned this the hard way

Your baking reminds me of the lady from food network who would use already made shelf products to make cooking easier. You don't make any of the flavoring yourself? I see it through out your videos. For example in your Peach Cake you used canned peach, and in this one you use cheap milk tea bottle. Thats pretty cool. Cant wait to try these.

Wow I want to try making this but a thai tea version :0 I think I would use sago pearls instead of boba because it shouldn't get hard when refrigerated (at least the black sago pearls I have seen so far; I refridgerated Taho which has black sago pearls in it and the pearls did not harded so I think it will be fine) Thanks for the recipe! :)
I love this cake.. My only concern is how to keep the pearls still chewy after put thr cake in the fridge.. The home cooked Pearl always get hard after leave in thr fridge 😔.. Do you have any tips ^^
Home cooked pearl will keep chewy even in fridge if u keep it in sugar water , but im not really sure what it will happen if put it in the cake then fridge

You can just put some loose Earl Grey tea leaves in a pestal and mortar and grind them to make powder.
Temaile that releases a bitter flavor- that’s why you don’t squeeze a tea bag when steeping tea
