@@Makiaveliiste Could you clarify what you mean with "with Anki"? Migaku Memory isn't used with Anki, as it can be a replacement for it. So people should use either or.

2 years ago i still didn't have a job, learning japanese in my free time with migaku add-ons and i enjoyed it. Now i have job so i think i will buy the subscription.

This is absolutely incredible. I heard about the legacy migaku extension from some japanese learning youtubers, but to see it evolve into a more user friendly product is great for people that don't want to spend so much time setting it up and creating anki decks.

This is amazing! I've been using migaku since the first release of the browser extension, and it's crazy to see how far you all have come since then. Are there any plans to add support for other major languages besides the ones that are currently supported?
The screen is super dark so impossible to see the pricing.

With FSRS (Free Spaced Repetition Scheduler) now being integrated natively into Anki, I have one more reason to be skeptical of any roll-out-your-own SRSes. I would strongly advise you guys at Migaku to look into integrating FSRS into your SRS, otherwise it seems almost dead on arrival to me. (I honestly want to see you guys succeed, and this piece of advice comes from a place of good intentions.)
I think their SRS is meant for the people who have no clue nor an interest to know what the first sentence of your comment means, which is probably the vast majority of people. As long as they keep supporting Anki I personally have no issue with them making their own SRS. IMO it's probably something they can't do without if they want to reach a broad and casual audience.
We're aware of FSRS and will likely move to it as our primary algorithm in the future! 😀
Nice to see Migaku back. I remember there was a video before your break where you said the Migaku Broswer Extension will become free to use for anyone (non-paying customers included) after the testing phase is over. Then I lost track of it. Are there any plans to still make this true or are the tools and features showcased in this video all for paying customers only?
That was said when Migaku was a small community project, and while I can't promise the direction that we will take, as I no longer am solely responsible in making those decisions, I will say that I personally would like to see a free tier offering one day if possible.
The future of Migaku looks bright! Glad I bought the lifetime membership.
Deeply interested and very impressed! Became fluent using the immersion method with Japanese, but I want to take on mandarin next. I'm hoping for a permanent departure from Anki and better Chinese support. If both of those are available then I'm sold.
I really think making a native card app was the smart move long-term. I can personally attest to my less tech savvy friends giving up on language learning after I tried to help them set up Anki 😅
This all looks really exciting! Seems like you guys are really making language learning a lot more accessible. I do have some questions though
1. Will you be able to create cards for Anki with the new addon
2. Will you be able to export cards from Migaku to Anki (For example I have been using Migaku for a while and I have lots of flash cards on there but I want to switch to Anki for whatever reason will you be able to export those cards in bulk)
3. Will the Languages courses cost extra?
4. Will you able to create cards from things like games/VN's?
5. Do you plan on adding Russian support in the future?
1. You already can do this.
2. We will likely add some export option to Migaku Memory in the future.
3. They are included in the regular subscription.
4. We want to add these kind of features to our apps natively later. But soon we will add the clipboard feature which will allow mining from those sources when combined with third party text hooking applications.
5. Eventually we want to add Russian support but can't commit to when we will do that just yet as we want to complete the base features of the new extension first.

No, not yet. But that is something that is on our radar.
I’m using the legacy extension, and it’s really awesome! However, I am irritated by only one thing, it’s difficult to select and copy sentences when parsing subtitles. I hope this is fixed in the new extension.

Awesome. I had used the browser extension back when Migaku first started but quit after it broke due to an update. I just felt like it was too clunky to deal with at the time. I am definitely interested again with this new app and everything else. Great work and thank you for the update video!
Are you providing multiple dictionary options for Japanese? In the past I had used a dictionary for Japanese names, Japanese to Japanese and a Japanese to English dictionary. Is this something I can easily select using the website or the app?
Also would you consider making a deck consisting of the top couple of hundred Japanese names with their kanji and reading? This is something I have been wanting to make myself but just haven't had the time. I think other learners could benefit from this since remembering pronunciations for names are kind of difficult.
We provide a selection of free dictionaries in the extension that you can download. But you can also import dictionaries if you need more than we provide. You can ask on our Discord server and users are always happy to help with finding them.
We definitly want to expand the amount of content that we provide. Names of people, cities, prefecturs etc are definitly on the table. Personally, I would like to have a bit more interactive card types for places tho (stevi).

Looks good, with anki getting stuff like FSRS, do you guys have an advanced SRS algorithm or something similar?
We plan to implement FSRS into our algorithm in the future as well so no problems there. Right now we're using an improved version of the algorithm that Anki uses.
Cool. Is the basic sentence deck up and running in the app for Japanese? What's the monthly cost?
These beginner materials have not yet been released, but should be in the next few weeks.
They will be included in our usual subscription for 5$.
If I'm planning to take the academy course, do i need to take the basic course? or everything included in the basic course will be covered in the academy course? Also, are the learning materials included within the standard subscription or do i need to pay for them separately?
Its either the basic course, or the academy course. The basic course is a really stript down version with short short grammar explanations. Everything is included in the standard subscription.
And will it be possible to transfer the cards from the migaku app to anki (e.g. if i dont use migaku after 1 year and just want to use the created flashcards from the app. But since the app is connected to the subscription i would still need to pay right?)

The extension is only available for Chrome currently. Yes, flashcards can be created for Anki.

I daily drive Firefox and installed Chrome in order to use Migaku. While it seemed annoying at first I now actually prefer using a separate browser for language learning, since I can simply set everything in Chrome to Japanese, including my default TH-cam account, VPN server etc. without it interfering with the things I do in Firefox.

I've been using anki for far too long to switch, if you guys are going to force me to use your flashcards I won't be returning, I always drop systems that use online srs systems, just not interested in that, I hope for your sake you still export to anki or you're just going to be yet another language reactor
Hey Papa Bones, we still support Anki so no harm no foul right? For every person who prefers Anki there's at least one who prefers Migaku Memory and since we support both it's the best of both worlds right?
