Remember this very well, the look on Jools Holland face , blown away , say what you want about Mick Hucknall he has one of the greatest voices ever and a total master at his craft
Remember watching this back in 1996 on a Friday evening and my dad came home from a hard weeks work and didn't care much of the music or the tv of the 80s or 90s stopping to listen to this man's amazing performance turning to me and saying "Now that boy can sing son"
Chris Evans thought he was putting him on the spot, boy did Mick turn it around and blow everybody away! Mick Hucknall...our very own Manchester legend, love him! xx
Sounds a bit like my partners book bedside reading/the photo of his wife passed away..still by his side as dying Hearts never Desert your FRIEND ❤Mick a beautiful song Thank you! Well Done ❤
It really was Alan. i remember watching this as well, it was amazing. And TFi was amazing, i'd get home from work, and watch TFI and it was the official start of my weekend. Seriously great times and i miss them big time.
OMG First I thought this is live, then playback, and now after 1,5 years I finally hear that this is live perfomance!! And I'm singer guys! :D and simply red is my best for all times music and this is one of my favourite song this is amazing and marvelous Be safe genius Mick Hucknall :))
The Ultimate Kareoke . What a performance . Nearing National Treasure Status . The press always give him a hard time for some reason . Imo He is without doubt one of the greatest singers of all time .
Genuinely think this man might be the best singer of all time... absolutely effortless sat down in a chair singing like an (if you’ll pardon the pun) ANGEL....
Definitely one of the best vocalists ever, even Peter O'toole was rocking it and he looks like a hard nut to crack. What I would give to seem them live on tour next year.He has been given a special talent for sure
Like so many here I remember watching this at the time and thinking “wow, I knew he was good but this is just incredible “….TFI and Evans at his best…I loved getting ready for the weekend with a bottle of beer in my hand and watching them all having a great time…all those tv personalities of the time, young Zoe Ball and Sarah Cox etc all living it up on the tv and in the media…it was fun for a while…😅
Such a beautiful man w/such a beautiful voice...& to do this song spontaneously..what a trooper! One of my fave performers..& so professional. Doesn't get better than this! 🙂🙂💕💕
This is an example of Real Talent I have taught my oldest son to love. I have taught him that a singer and musician have real God given talent if they can sound just as amazing in stage live as they do in a recorded track. Ive listened to Mick and frankly there is not a song I do not care for. Peter O'Tool is a bonus in this too. I seen that it was him and I just was in awe. ✌👐🙏
Totally agree. Just one thing - now we have another performer. Dimash Kudaibergen. Very young, but so professional. Do not get me wrong . Mick is the best. ❤✌
This is one of those performances when you don't understand is this live or playback until you listen the original a million times Love you Mick. Be safe 🤝 Warm regards from Russia 😃
Remember watching this on a Friday night before going up the local pub, told my mates about it and it’s stayed with me all this time 👍 Saw them live a couple of nights ago, still amazing . 👏👏
The transformation he undergoes when performs is crazy. He becomes a different person. It's quite scary to think what might have been had he not pursued this career. Talented guy!
One of the greatest pieces of improvised tv I’ve ever seen. They tried it later on with Night Nurse where Mick came through the crowd. That performance was more staged though and didn’t have as big an impact. With Chris Evans love him or hate him he isn’t afraid to experiment in tv & media, which has gained him his success to date. Most other presenters would be quite satisfied with a really good interview. Chris Evans & his team thought we’ve got an unbelievable singer on the show. So let’s plug his single & put him on spot to sing & show off his talent. Even if Mick had been in a mood during that interview (he wasn’t) Chris just showed footage of Mick saying how he loves to sing live & sweat. Mick couldn’t really refuse to sing after that. Chris Evans & his team played this one spot on. Just a shame they don’t bring TFI back & just keep the Stone Roses away so TFI can stay on air!
Yeh I remember watching TFI that night and changed my opinion completely about Mick Hucknall that night. That was just such an awesome, natural and utterly soulful performance. Thanks for the upload OBJ!
Ohhh wow I remember watching this when it aired and I have never seen it since. Thank you so much for uploading this. His voice is just too good and even out of the blue he pulled that off just like your mate sitting in your living room. Amazing.
Unique, outstanding video. The one that makes the history. I hope you guys understand how difficult was what Mick did as something fun. Just try it, if you don't. I know only 2 people who could it on the spot like that: Mick Hucknall and Dimash Kudaibergen. And am 48 years old, multilingual, who has been following all music trends.
Jools Holland looking with a face of pure admiration. He goes on to invite Mick Hucknall on his show to play the song, adds piano and a big band and ruins it.
Mick is a god. I saw him 20 times on stage everywhere in Europe, every gig was an experience , an holiday , feelings... I love , I miss him. amazaing voice... Jean-No.
Unbelievable how good this is from Mick Hucknall.
Remember this very well, the look on Jools Holland face , blown away , say what you want about Mick Hucknall he has one of the greatest voices ever and a total master at his craft
