When you first opened it I thought it was like a lunch box that you take to work and you can heat your lunch up without electricity. I know the Shinkansen in Japan has lunchboxes that you pull a string and the bento heats up. So it seems more of a cooker than a bento box? Would be nice if you could just heat up your food without electricity.
Know I'm a bit late to the party but if the OP is still looking for a non-electric "lunchbox" style food warmer/cooker, I have something called a Barocook which uses chemical reactions to heat up food in a contained double broiler style, its sold as a camping/outdoor invention but I also use it for work to heat up prepped meals from a mini cooler

You can regrow your scallions with the white part too! Just put the white part with the roots in a small glass of water and in like a week or so you will start seeing the green part regenerate. Now you never have to buy scallions/green onions again.
It tastes good... I forgot who and when I was taught about it. I just normally add sugar and milk or sometimes just sugar. Edit: Just to clarify, I (we) use the one after the rice/water starts to boil. You just scoop up some of the excess water and transfer it to a mug. So if you plan to do this make sure to add extra water to the rice.
I used to not wash my rice too much before cooking because I was told you were washing away the nutrients. Now, I wash it until the water becomes clear, due to hearing that there is too much arsenic in the uncooked rice. Hmmmm.

I’ve had my cooker for a month or so and I use it almost every day. The only thing I have trouble with is finding the proper ratio of rice to water. My rice usually comes out undercooked after the shutoff timer activates. I add a bit more water to the heating compartment and a little more water (eyeballing it) to the rice. When the rice is ready it’s usually mushy. Any suggestions on the exact amount of water/rice/water in heating compartment. I’m using basmati rice.

Great video. You are super entertaining and relatable. Two quick questions: 1. Does it make any noise? 2. Does it automatically go into warming mode when it is finished?
I got this from my bro in law, he didn't used his anymore so he gave me. But I'm not sure how to use it.. luckily i got to see your video.. cooking my rice now.. let seeee what happened
How long did it take to hardboil the egg? How long did it take to cook your rice meal? Are you supposed to cook with that plastic lid on top of that smaller top dish or can it cook with it off, as well?
It took about 6 minutes for the egg. I tried it with it on and off and not sure.. I think on if you are cooking rice. It doesn't snap on like a lid but I think it helps.
I think the plastic lids are for transporting food so they don’t spill. I wish they had more recipe ideas, but they actually gave me another free one for submitting a recipe idea! Just throw stuff in there and experiment, makeup a recipe and ask for a free lunchbox haha
@@kathywise684 Is there a place on their website to submit a recipe for a free one? I bought something similar to this on eBay a couple years ago but it didn't get hot at all.
GISJIng Correct. Arsenic is in the soil the world over, but rice, growing in water, absorbs traces of arsenic which is highest in the bran, so washing rice helps to reduce the levels even further.
I just saw 2 other videos on it, and it’s all over Instagram!! I think it’s called Itaki chef, very tempted to get, wish I had someone gift me one..,sigh....

Hey @thedaboki thanks v much for posting this! I just got one of these as well. Silly questions but just wondering how do we tell how much water to add? My instruction manual isn’t very helpful either. Do you usually cook your food first at home before bringing to work and thereafter steam it in the office? Thanks!
I really have been eyeballing it.. The instructions were not clear at all. Just doing trial and error lol. I would probably prep some food if I'm taking it to work first, and just use it mainly to heat it up, unless I have a pretty long lunch break that day
I see you have had this for almost a year now. What do you think of it at this point? For example, do you carry it to work and use it? Does it spill enroute? Would you recommend it?

You can try putting cut up meats or sausages and some vegetables with some seasonings and some chicken broth replacing water to cook together. But you may need to try out the balance of liquid and ingredients with the rice. Make sure you don't open immediately when it said done. Just let the heat to cook the rice a bit more.
I like the idea of the electric lunch box but i feel like for me it would be more convenient to just pre make the food and then microwave it. Ahahhahahha but its does seems fun

how many ltrs is it?
Great video. You are super entertaining and relatable.
Two quick questions:
1. Does it make any noise?
2. Does it automatically go into warming mode when it is finished?
I appreciate that :) It makes a little noise while boiling the water, and mine doesn't go into warming mode, but other ones might.
What kind of rice seasoning?
daboki for tasty producer!
How long did it took to make the rise?
Furikake is so good!! I like the one that you had, but the one with nori and egg yolk is good too! I actually want one of those little bento boxes!
Ohh nori and egg yok sounds great. I think this will be super convenient!

Where can you buy the lunch box
My larger steamer came with a clear plastic cover. The instructions say it's for keeping the food warm, but should not be used while cooking.
@@karenkessin4135 Ah HA! I thought so!!
Doesn't rice contain arsenic, so then you shouldn't drink that water and wash the rice very well.

When the rice and veggies and sauce was separated I was like meh but when it was mixed tho it looked awesome
lol yeah it was kind of lackluster
Just found these videos after seeing the Itaki's on sale for half price, snapped one up!

Does it have to be plugged in to use? How long does it keep food warm?
Yes, it has to be plugged in and to warm up food maybe 2 - 5 minutes depending what you got in there. Still figuring it out though lol
Thank you!
