My first bike is totalled😭😭 I had a crash last week, left turn'er t-boned me at an intersection. I would of gone into the side of the old lady or over her hood but I red staged and swerved around the front of her. Was looking at my first boots the week before that, wish I got them. She clipped my right footpeg and tore all the ligaments in my right foot. I was able to keep the bike up and just glad I haven't bitten a curb yet. Thank you Dan for the advice. It has been life saving for my first 2 years of riding.
I swear middle aged female drivers are thee most dangerous thing on the road to motorcyclist. Every close call I have had has been because of a middle aged woman pulling out in front of me or changing lanes into me or slamming on their brakes for no reason. The majority of them aren't paying attention to anything and cant see anything driving their big ass SUVs. They will look you straight in the eyes and pull out right into you.
My advice to my fellow new riders is to learn how to slow manuever first and try to ride on tight spaces and the most important thing is be confident. Riding fast can come later because that's one of the easiest you just pull the thottle.
I don't know about other states, but in Oregon it is considered brandishing if you hike up your shirt purposefully to show your weapon (according to the CCW class I took almost 4 score ago)
Open carry is legal in Oregon is it not? So would lifting your shirt to go from legal concealed carry to legal open carry really be brandishing? Easy to argue you were uncomfortable riding or even just that you wanted to open carry ?
@@austinthompson7869 Yes, Oregon is an open carry state and you could try that argument if you leave the gun exposed, but if the weapon is in an IWB holster it would be hard to convince our liberal gun grabbers. Also, he lifted his shirt to show that he had a weapon and put the shirt back down over it which is 100% brandishing.

Always great content. This guy's voice is in my head when I ride. Today, on a nice curvy mountain road in North Carolina I had to do emergency braking in the middle of a curve. A tree had fallen and cars were stopped around the bend out of eyesight. Fortunately, I am not a speed demon. Was able to stop safely and get home.
Man, I thought I was the only one that did that lol. I watched Dan religiously before I bought my first bike and while I was learning to ride, so maybe that's why I'll hear him say the different color stages when traffic is getting heavy lol

getting ready to start riding again after 28 years a 4 wheeler. Thanks for making these videos! Gonna wear full protection and start practicing emergency braking and slow turning etc techniques immediately. Used to fly airplanes and had to watch a ton of accidents to learn. So, this is right up my alley and perfect for getting back into the saddle and learning way outs and/or hard braking. Think fast and ALWAYS be alert and ready!!

4:50 the rider is at fault. They were behind the car changing lanes and didn't wait for the lane to clear before trying to pass. Don't know why the rider posting the video would ever think anything otherwise.
Rider fault but it kinda looked like the car did that on purpose. Faked the lane change then slammed on breaks for no reason that I could see. Maybe there was more to the video that wasn't shown.
@@langreiper3327 the car went to pull in to allow the much faster biker to overtake, problem was the biker was going to undertake, the driver saw that and pulled back in to his original lane at the exact moment the biker switched to overtaking instead. if brakes were slammed the clip would have been much shorter with much more severe consequences for biker.
@@GaryM-ft7pw i watched it again and noticed the second car in the slow lane. still not sure why the car braked at all unless they thought they were going to hit the car in the slow lane. I agree there was no slamming of breaks and definitely the bikers fault for not assessing the situation and taking proper action.
@langreiper3327 car didn't do it on purpose. Think critically. The driver just wanted to continue their pace so when they started merging right and realized the car ahead was slower, they kept to the left to continue their pace. Nothing to do with the bike at all.
As someone who has been in an accident that also "left me disoriented" This man speaks the truth. If you feel like something is wrong, but your adrenaline is kicked on and youre thinking "ah im okay just hyped up" Correct yourself and get checked out. Its worth it. It may cost money but its better than not noticing a concussion. Trust me, its never worth it to risk it. Concussions may sound common, but theyre still VERY dangerous. Ride safe, FULL GEAR ALWAYS, and assume everyone around you is on their phone and very stupid.

20:48 BMW GS The piece that came off is the front height adjuster for the rider’s seat. Easy to snap back in place. Rider’s seat came off during the spill. Likely not latched completely (sometimes takes a very firm & fast push for them to latch fully).

I stay close to the center of the road and roll off the throttle closer to the peak, 2 fingers over the brake. Being at the outer edge is risky because we can't see if there's a curve just after the peak.
I agree, on a 2-lane highway position away from the oncoming traffic. On a local highway there is a long straight section with rolling hills. Double yellow line because semi trucks can hide in the low parts... I have still seen cars pass because they think they can see ahead. I opt to stay close to the shoulder to escape.
The wet roundabout is a consequence of the thick A pillars in modern cars, they can hide a car if both are moving at the right speed, need to move position in the car to look around it on approach to roundabouts

Yesterday I was on a bike trip with my dad, he lost consciousness while riding and uncontrollably swerved right, into the wall. Thankfully he had full gear, suffered TBI, fractured spine, scratched and bruised leg. The helmet cracked. It could happen to anyone so be responsible and remember about PPE

Kicked down from fifth to fourth on a Honda Varadero 125 doing over 60mph going into a bend only to discover I was actually already in fourth gear. Wavked through recline and snapped a rocker but luckily no further engine damage.
The 3rd clip, I reckon the driver saw the biker coming behind him and didn't know if he was going to pass on the left or the right so they both hesitated, like when you come face to face with someone and you both step to the same side
that TBI chart you showed - it had Memory Loss and inability to focus with Stage 3, which was prolonged unconsciousness, do those both need to happen? About 10 years ago I crashed my dirt bike at a MX track, hit a jump lost control and let go off the bike about 10 feet from the ground, rolled about 40 feet and couldn't stand for about 10 minutes, without support, and took me about another 5 minutes to figure out who was who - couldn't recognize my buddy and kept getting confused between him and the other people around me.

When the ramp is shorter than your wheelbase you have to bounce the front coming off of it or the rear shock WILL kick your rear up higher than your front. Short ramps are the hard way to learn how to jump.
Brandishing is any display of a firearm outside of concealment if you are carrying a (normally) concealed weapon. But it varies state by state. That said, some dude road raging at you with a 3000lb motorized blunt weapon is reason enough to draw (not just brandish) in some places as well.

DO NOT APPLY A TOURNIQUET TO A LIMB YOU ARENT WILLING TO LOSE - LIFE THREATENING BLOODLOSS ONLY. Also remember to take note of the exact time that you apply it if you do. The blood in the limb is cut off from oxygen so when the Tourniquet is removed you can get a surge of unoxygenated blood reneter your system and it won't be fun. Always tell the paramedic/doctor/first aider the time, it could save someone's life one day!
Also, something thats kind of obvious but may be overlooked. If youre mounting your phone: Get yourself a phone mount that is as nice as your helmet. Worst feeling: wobbling and saving it; only to see your smartphone briefly break orbit and qualify as a space cadet. Spend the money first, on your terms; before you end up needing to spend it later when you may not have it Never happened to me, but saw a guy launch a phone once and.. well.. i spent a good chunk of cash on a better phone mount that day I.e Dont buy the temu bullcrap.
Roads are convex. Not concave. Think of a cave. It goes inwards. Concave is something that goes in like a bowl (orb cave). Convex is something that bulges out, like roads.
As a European, I can't even comprehend how stupid american highways are. Eveyone rides random lanes and constantly switch between them without indicators. Why?
Directly drawing attention to your weapon, like lifting your shirt to expose it, could be considered brandishing even in an open carry State. Probably won't be and you could make a number of excuses as to why you did it that wouldn't be brandishing like "my shirt came untucked in the wind I was just tucking it back in". Question though How is the gun going to help you if they decide to ram you at those speeds? The camera is probably a better deterrent. Good that it all seems to work out. Could this be one of those situations where a gun prevented an incident without being fired?
I think on video 2 it was both at fault, the guy on the bike did not provide a space cushion, but buddy really did not need to brake check him either...
Sorry, but this “target fixation” thing about 5 yards ahead and such is kind of B.S. if you need to be looking exactly where you “think” your bike should be going… you should t be riding a motorcycle. Experienced or not, if you believe this and more specifically, rely* on this…. You and those around you are screwed. You need way more awareness of your bike than the simple, “Look where you want to turn,” advice that is usually the first tip to all of these issues.

Roads are CROWNED to shed water. Pooling of water happens at the lowest part of the road. Watch out for standing water on roadways especially at high speed. REPORT issues to authorities to help make the roadways safe!
8:43, the truck driver started signaling (you can see the light on the mirror blinking) way before he did the turn. The bikes is just a moron. Either stay behind or go in front, never stay side by side with any vehicle, especially in intersections.

If I did everything wrong leading up to a collision with the back of another vehicle, I'd be pretty sure it was my fault. Still, I would take some pride in the fact that I didn't go down.

Those low water bridges often have slime on them so if you touch the accelerator right at the end of the bridge you can get surprise wheel spins!

Great idea on the IFAK - individual first aid kit. Learning combat first aid as well, ie packing wounds as you mention. So fanny packs lol

laying her down while off roading just adds ADV patina to your bike. highly advise getting some for the dualsport and ADV riders

Rider was hidden by the driver's A-pillar. The driver should have cleared it before entering the roundabout.

as i started biking, someone gave me the advise, drive like your invisible. that helped me "survive" my phony big city.

Directly drawing attention to your weapon, like lifting your shirt to expose it, could be considered brandishing even in an open carry State. Probably won't be and you could make a number of excuses as to why you did it that wouldn't be brandishing like "my shirt came untucked in the wind I was just tucking it back in". Question though How is the gun going to help you if they decide to ram you at those speeds? The camera is probably a better deterrent. Good that it all seems to work out. Sorry, but this “target fixation” thing about 5 yards ahead and such is kind of B.S. if you need to be looking exactly where you “think” your bike should be going… you should t be riding a motorcycle. Experienced or not, if you believe this and more specifically, rely* on this…. You and those around you are screwed. You need way more awareness of your bike than the simple, “Look where you want to turn,” advice that is usually the first tip to all of these issues.

Most of these accidents could have been avoided by slowing down. Its alright to go fast if you know how but dont go unreasonably fast
Roads are CROWNED to shed water. Pooling of water happens at the lowest part of the road. Watch out for standing water on roadways especially at high speed. REPORT issues to authorities to help make the roadways safe!

@@ArtiomTimofeev-lo2ys If the car brake checked biker would have been down. car went to pull in to allow speeding biker to overtake, 2 wheeled fool had decided to undertake, driver saw and pulled back out to avoid biker, biker had decided to overtake instead and hit the car trying to dodge his initial undertake, speeding biker hopefully learned a very very painful lesson
If I did everything wrong leading up to a collision with the back of another vehicle, I'd be pretty sure it was my fault. Still, I would take some pride in the fact that I didn't go down.
