  • See how these two popular 4 man, air frame tents compare! Nothing too technical, non scientific... just pitching them up next to each other - Bit of fun to see them side by side.
Hope you enjoy the video -
Thanks for stopping by and watching
Its been a while, but good to be editing again!
    Great to be back!

Just completed video. My Eurohike was slightly more expensive than you paid. £300 a month ago. GO messed up at the till and overcharged me, but returning to the store, they not only matched the on-line price of £300 but gave me an extra 20% off as well. My friend paid £199 today for the Decathalon!! which made me weep a bit. I loved the windows in the Dec but loved the full front door mesh of my Eurohike and the side door as well for popping out in the night. As a 63 y/o I found my Eurohike really easy to erect solo (having read the instructions and watching a video in advance). Money no object and muscles of steel, I’d have gone for the Berghaus 4.1 but I am delighted with my Eurohike and hope my mate is with her Dec. Thanks for the video guys.

Just had my first weekend away using the Quechua, a fantastic tent, easy to put up, plenty of room, on the first night we had heavy rain and not one leak, it held up very well and I’m very pleased with my purchase from Decathlon

I bought the Eurohike 400 after watching your video last year. I can thoroughly recommend it as a two man tent with loads of room. Four would be a bit cramped. The only downside I have found is that the sides slope so much that you have to close up in the rain otherwise water will get in. This means that cooking in the tent during bad weather is a problem. The front entrance can be opened up if you buy some additional poles however, but not ideal. For the money an absolute bargain. Love it and have no regrets. Oh and the bedroom is blackout material so another thumbs-up.

Bought the Quecha 6.3, took it to the Netherlands for halloween, stood up to 60mph winds for 3 days and 2 days torrential rain with a flooded site, only gripe was the roof vent, lets too much breeze in, needs covers you can place on and off depending on weather, 2nd gripe was theres no seal at the door bottoms, needs zips, let in too much breeze and a random hedgehog!

I've had my Eurohike 400 air since 2019, had no problems and love it. Camping in this tent in a storm (thunder and heavy rain) no leaks and completely stayed up even when the wind was up. Brought a Eurohike XL porch during Covid for it, but unfortunately haven't got back to Camping to use it.

I replaced a 4 person tent with the Air Seconds 4.1 and the difference in erection and packing times is simply night and day. For durability, It gets used for weekends about 8 times a year and I've had it for at least three years with no issues.
It doesn't like storm force winds and will collapse, the rain will then get in through the roof vent and you will have a sudden swimming pool in the living room. Under the same winds, fibreglass poles would have been destroyed. This one just needed pulling upright, re-guying and then bailing out.

    Hello again Adam
Just watched your vid with the Mrs, as we're family camping experts.
The Eurohike wins it for me. I cant get over the look of the Decathlon with the air poles sticking out from the main structure so much.
Big up decathlon the shop though, quality clothing at great prices.
We upgraded to a metal pole 8 man tent a few years back, so were sticking with that for now. But . . . . . . Not sure if you mentioned it in your vid? The massive plus point with Air tents is you can put them up in a force 9 without the need to have a man/woman on each corner of the tent to stop it flying away. I think we've all had that problem in the past.
For anyone up grading there tent
Forget bendy poles iv'e seen many a bendy pole disaster in Cornwall over the years.
Metal poles or air tents are the future of camping.
    Good vid mate
    Gary

    • @justgetoutthereguy
      @justgetoutthereguy  ปีที่แล้ว

Hi Gary - Thanks for ya comments as ever - Well you will be far more knowledgeable than me as a hardened family tent user! I bought my Vango (with the bendy poles!) but purely as my 'basecamp' to use on my own - And I will be sticking to it. But was just fascinated to check out this new air beam concept. Suitably impressed, but I agree I do think I preferred the Eurohike. And I agree, thought the air poles are far more cosmetically pleasing - within the tent! not on the outside. But thanks for watching Gary, all the best to you and your family
      Adam 😄

Just looking at the tent pegs alone is enough to show that Decathalon cares more about their product.

  • @hegen8705
    @hegen8705 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Nice video thanks, always great to see comparable products back to back. Just a couple of points which some may find helpful. I have the slightly larger, though otherwise exactly the same Eurohike 600. I use the bespoke tent footprint for it , and would recommend always getting this too - it increases the robustness and protects the base of the tent and keeps it clean etc. My other top tip, as recommended by the Go Outdoors staff was to buy the two pole with guy lines to allow extending out the front door as a canopy. Works great, makes the tent feel so much bigger. We really like our Eurohike, tent and for next year we will replace the red guy lines - which become invisible at night, - with fluorescent yellow cord. Finally, a couple of cons we have found with our tent is the occasional similar deflation issue on removing the pump from the valve, as you had, and that the valves can be hard to fully re-access when the tent is inflated. . The bases of the air tubes also curve slightly in at the base - not an issue just a little annoying. Perhaps I should inflate them a little more - though prefer not to risk bursting tubes in hot weather which happened one time when I had inflated to the maximum recommended pressure. Hope my comments are of interest. Happy camping

Not too worried about the headroom when sleeping, and the living space will be very welcome having spent the last couple of years getting changed on my back! I started with a eurohike air400 and it is a really good starter air tent. I bought it as a luxury 2 person tent for me and the Mrs and it was really good dead easy to put up and put away and did the job brilliantly. Only complaints I have is the lack of fly net on the side door and there for lack of light because you only get light in from the front as I don't do bugs in my tent 🤣. I upgraded to a berghaus air 4xl this last year as an extremely luxury 2 person tent and wow that thing is massive and very light and airy compared to the 400. Bit more awkward to get up and down due to the size but definitely worth the effort

I prefer the Eurohike. Putting up the Quechua looked a bit awkward. I'm disabled and would want to put my mobility scooter in the living area overnight . It's a bit higher in the bedroom which will make it easier for me also as I sleep on a dometic recliner as a campbed is too low for me. I also like that you can use the front door as a canopy. The alternative that I'm considering is a Brean 3.

    Decathlon tents are:
4.1 XL Air and 4.1 Standard non air and non XL.

I strongly recommend to lower pressure in air pilars and wrapping in strong silver fabric tape.

There is a vent for the bedroom area on the outside. On the left hand side of the tent towards the back... Lift the tent fabric edge up from the outside. You'll see two velcro supports to allow airflow. 👍

Do the air beams sag at night when it cools off? Also can they over expand when they get hot?

I only stayed in the one night and it seemed ok, however I feel that may need the odd top up on an extended stay... I guess no different to just retightetening guy ropes...🤔 thanks for watching - Adam

today we bought a Eurohike rydal 400 Air Tent cost £335. from Go Outdoors we spent 1hour and 30 mins trying to get this tent up we gave up. each time we pumped it up it deflated every time we took the attachment off I even rang the store and they said there isn't a fault its just with the air tube being new we needed to twist it. I have just watched your video and you had a problem with the middle one we have tried different ways of putting the attachment on. Its infuriating. you have made it look so easy its been a nightmare

The pressure valve, make sure that is out to stop the air. A better understanding of that I suggest watching a quick video on inflating an inflatable paddle board. If the valve is in when you attach the hose to inflate, when you remove the hose it will deflate. You'll see when he actually gets the section to stay inflated the pressure valve is out.

Eurohike's air valve... that is more of a design flaw to me. Decathlon design is smarter and there is a ventilation design at the end of the tent to help improved the air circulation into the bedroom which you missed. The newer version of the Decathlon tent also has a darker bedroom with dark color material.

I have the regatta kolima 5 air tent. It's an excellent tent and in specs is superior to these IMHO. However all are great campers. A nice vlog fella.

Eurohike 5 , pole tent at go out doors £149 ,me just got one ,,spacious ,good tent ,, dont like the doors not being sealed all the way round ,intruders, and hasn't got canopy at side door for rain , but hay ho ,cheap and will do the job with plenty of room,,the air 4 XL, took hours to put up and furnishings, i needed a holiday after sorting it all ,, i dont like light tents as too bright in a morning and blindly in sunny days ,,i wouldn't have a air tent again, happy camping folks 😊

Both of these tents are basically a waste of time and money, Eurohike is known as a trash brand and Decathlon as well have their fair share of facepalm engineering. Decent air tents from brands like Outwell, Vango or Zempire are more expensive but definitely worth it
