I truly appreciate your video and I was wondering if you could make a video of how to find your medium ID. It took me a couple of times to find it, infact I didn't find it till I contacted Customer Service by submitting a ticket. To make the matter worst, I searched through the youtube but I still didn't find it either. I am right now waiting for ticket resolution and I am sure, there are some people who doesn't know how to get it, just like me like me.
@@HerbPowerWIsdom So, if you go to your Medium profile, you can actually find it by looking at the URL. For example, my Medium ID is @hudsonrennie. And, my URL is: medium.com/@hudsonrennie . Or, you can find it by going into Settings > Account > Username and subdomain. I hope that helps! 🙂🙌
thank you Hudson .. your videos helps me alot to write an article and also about publications cause i am a beginner and i also followed you on medium 🎉❤
I am so grateful for you Hudson! You’ve helped me so much in my journey so far and I will be sharing your videos with my community. I love writing and I truly appreciate you… and I am proud of you and you speak great!!! 😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤
I recntly join the partner program. I have drafted my About Me story, but could not find submit button or request button for none of these publications!!
Thanks! If you go into your settings, it should be right next to "username and subdomain". Mine, for instance, is @hudsonrennie. It will also be the back half of your profile URL. 🙂🙌
Hi Hudson, Thanks for the video. Really good insights. I have just started out with writing for publications and I have sent a draft to Illumination. Because you have been a writer for the same, can you give an idea as to how much time it will take to get a response from Illumination on average? And how long would be the ideal waiting time before may be trying out another publication/self-publishing?
To get approved as a writer, it can take anywhere from 1-3 weeks. Once approved, you can expect to have your articles published within 3 days of submission. If they get published within 3 days, I would move on to the next publication. Or, self-publish it. 🙂🙌
Ah, that's too bad. 🥲 Generally, if a publication doesn't respond to your article in 3 days, you can assume they've passed on it. You can always try another publication or self-publish it!
Hmmmm, that's a good question. I've heard of other writers having issues with using Medium on tablets, but they should still have an option to submit to publications. 🤔 I would reach out to Medium directly. You can create a support ticket, here: help.medium.com/hc/en-us/requests/new 🙌
There is a publication called "Age of Awarness" that I'd like to write for. However, it's unclear how to join it, the editor said that you have to reach out to the publication to be added, still, there is no direct way to do so. Can you please help?
I see what you mean. It's unclear. 😅I found their email, you can try reaching out there: aoa.publish@gmail.com If that doesn't work, you can try emailing the editor. If you go to the publication's homepage, you'll see a list of editors. And, if you go to the editor's profile, you'll see a little email icon. Click it to send them an email. I hope that helps! 🙂🙌
First of all, thank you. I did reach out to the publication, waiting for a response. When I checked the editor profile, I did find an email icon. However, it is used to subscribe to receive an email whenever he publishes rather than emailing them. Perhaps I need to be a member to do that.
When I click on Submit like you, I do arrive on a "Submission Guidelines" page but it's empty, the two articles appearing in your video don't appear on my side. Could it be that I need to change something in my settings or something?
Hmmm, I'm seeing this as well. It's possible the ownership has changed as I'm not seeing Qu listed as an editor anymore. I'll email them and get back to you. 🙂💌
You can add an image description to any image you upload and then add a hyperlink to your source. For example, I usually something like "Image via [the artist] on [the website]". 🙂🙌
Nope! Publications only show up next to writers' names when they publish through a publication. But, anyone can self-publish. If you write a story and publish it, there won't be any publication next to your name. 🙂🙌
It totally depends on the publication. But, generally 1-2 weeks. I wouldn't wait to post, though, as all publications are all ran by other writers -- and, can sometimes forget to let you know you've been approved. 🙂🙌
I had post my first article last month directly on medium, but it only get 4 views and 1 clap but my profile is not shown to others by searching it with my name or by my article, what should I have to do then?
I would definitely start applying and submitting to publications to expand your reach. And, if you're having issues with your profile, I would reach out to Medium support. You can submit a request for support, here: help.medium.com/hc/en-us/requests/new 🙂🙌
Hey again and another great video. Sorry if these questions have already been answered. Can we place one of our articles in more than 1 publication at a time? And I understand we can leave a publication, but if we do, does that hurt our SEO search rankings if we leave to go to another one? Like I wonder if you lose momentum switching. But that makes me also wonder if there's a strategy where you can join one for a month or so, then switch to a different one every month to bounce your article around to be seen by even mote viewers that your article may not have received if only with 1 publication. Hope these questions are valid. Thanks!
You can only have an article published in one publication at a time. And, personally, I wouldn't remove articles -- most publications only accept unpublished drafts. Plus, articles will continue to gain views/reads as readers of the publication search for relevant topics. I know it can be tempting to move/edit articles if they don't initially perform well, but I've always found it best to learn from your mistakes and adjust for the next article. You can always rewrite articles if you feel as though they didn't get the reads they deserve. I go over my method for this, here: th-cam.com/video/OdJovBSVhWY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=dccKmUhmUtgcQhnT I hope that helps! 🙂🙌
@hudsonrenniewrites thanks for this Hudson. What I am trying to wrap my head around, let's say I put my story under a pay wall. Only paid members can see the article. We get paid because Medium is sharing our member fees correct? But once I put my articles under a pay wall, can people who register a free account with medium see our pay wall articles? I've been sharing links to my friends to read, but I realize those won't yield any monetization. I'm just trying to see the benefit of paywall. Like if don't put article under pay wall, non members can read articles but we won't get paid. I then put articles behind pay wall and we get paid but only by other paying members? Can general population still find our articles through SEO etc ? I guess what I'm asking is can we gain money from general public reading our articles behind paywall, without them being paid members of medium? I also see that by being in a publication, we are seen more by other writers. But it then kind of feels like a YT sub for sub thing. Like being with publication will also show our articles to more non members? But the catch 22 is they can't open article anyways without paid account? Sorry I'm talking in circles and hope this makes sense.
@@mikecorazza Yeah, it's a new twist a lot of writers are trying to navigate. There are pros and cons to both -- personally, I keep everything paywalled because it's easier to monetize. You don't get paid from the reads of non-paying members, so I don't worry about external views. If you sell affiliate links or want to reach readers through organic search traffic, I've seen some writers who are part of the Friend of Medium membership tier add a Friend link at the beginning of their story to get the best of both worlds. I would experiment and see what works best for you. 🙌
I don't want any earnings right now; I just want to write and share my voice with people. I am a free member. Can my follower count grow? Will people find me? Will publications accept my work or not? Please help.
