straight to the point i lke that
I would recommend to built up the Vocal Chain. Also for everyone who is recording with a simple Interface to record with the plug-ins ON. Turn down the buffersize to 64 Samples and load up the beat and then go for it.

Recording with fx can be good but u run the risk of messing up your vocal especially for beginners. U have way more room to effect ur raw vocs than a fx vocal. With raw u can always go back but u can't go back with fx vocal.
You shouldn't ever record with your plugins set to be applied into the recording (Pre), Everything you added is unable to be changed in the mixdown process, which could make the vocal completely useless. You want to record the raw vocals always. If you still want to hear your vocals while you record with fx applied, then the fx should be applied after the incoming audio is received (Post)
Or just make a seperate bus and record into both one that way you hear what it can sound like with all your fx and than your RAW audio into another

4:03 Baby Audio - Comback Kid is an awesome delay vst because there’s a sidechain knob so you can only hear the delay when the vocals aren’t playing
Also if you want a video idea, how to mix like scarlxrd or omenxiii would be great because there’s no good videos on those guys. Also mixing distorted vocals like Kanye would be a good one too

The more I been using FL the more I’m loving it… I could see it as the main software I use for mixing… every time I use it I learn so many cool new mixing tricks. And it does a good job of letting you go by ear instead of looking at the numbers.

Great video! Do you mind explaining more in detail how you used Maximus as a multi-band compressor for your vocals?
thanks! I just use the high band of maximus to lightly compress the higher frequencies of the vocal, then I boost them back up to taste to add some crispy and controlled top end. This is the same concept as taking an EQ and boosting the highs with a high shelf, however this is more controlled (due to compression) and results in a smoother high end. I also use maximus as a deEsser, use the narrow split band preset in maximus for that.

I was told that the DB is supposed to hit -12 on main vocals ..when it hit -12 it sounds pro like plus turn the beat down to hit -3
DBs are all relative. I do -20 RMS , which can be -10 Dbs or -12 Dbs... DBs are just a way to stay relative to the way it's being taught... Cuz if we mix in the same DBS then everything I say about threshold and other plugins will work the same way. Sometimes your vocals will be best around -12 but the beat may need turned down -6 dbs because it's naturally louder.. so it will change every song. But just remember, It's a tool so we can stay on the same page and same starting point.
im struggling hard atm, my mixes are good but im struggeling with the mastering stuff i use your presets from melodic sauce from mastering but always when i think its good it doesnt sound nearly as good compared to professional songs the. I compare with the levels and stuff but just cant seem to get it perfect any advice bro? cause its fkn frustrating 🙏
for sure! find out the main differences between your masters and the masters you hear on streaming services and then email me at support@baywoodaudio.com and I can help you fix it! or I can help show you how to achieve it by litte tweaks to your master preset

This isn't what a pro would do, but nice tutorial. Would be helpful to tell people how to create sends/ bussing to control effects, and showing advanced techniques like, sidechaining, parallel processing, automation, gain staging, etc.
