I just received my very first professional woodburning kit. I had a solid nib burner that lasted for years for minor things. I revisited my woodburning again and realized how much I actually enjoyed it! (Then that burner died and went to pyro heaven) My new burner uses the wire nibs, total game changer for me! When I found your channel, I felt inspired, and I'm now officially calling myself an addicted Pyro! Because of your dedication and excellent teaching skills, I just finished a cutting board. Believe it or not, I went today to find some bookmark boards, I have a few reading students that love to read and they are always losing their bookmarks. So I thought I'll make some that are more personalized, maybe they won't lose them! Then I saw this video posted, I hit the watch button so fast because I have a bull skull that I have been wanting to do something with....So...now I'll go watch the video to be inspired once again. Thank you for sharing your love & skills for woodburning with all of us!!!!!

I didn’t see a video, but have you made or considered doing one on watercolor paper? I learned you could on your videos and got me some paper but they didn’t have the warm pressed. They just had the cold pressed. Would be nice to see how it would turn out

I’ve definitely burned paper, I’m not sure I’ve done a video on it though. It was a long time ago. I’ll have to dig around and see, or maybe I’ll need to make a new video. 👍

I just bought a gourd drum that I want to burn. Also hot-pressed watercolor paper is smoother than cold-pressed.

Cork comes from a certain tree, it is the bark of said tree. Pretty cool tbh.

Yep - northwestern Mediterranean. Cork is the bark of the cork oak, Quercus suber, one of about 500 of the oak species in the genus Quercus all around the northern hemisphere...

Weird question you said that you can burn cotton, so here comes the weird part. Is it possible to burn a shirt?

I bet you can. I burn tote bags but they don’t have any stretch to them, so I’m not sure how well it will burn. You’ll need to put it in an embroidery hoop or over a hardback book to give yourself a sturdy background.

@@BurnSavvy Thank you so much Maybe I'll have see if I can find thicker cotton shirts as well? Hmmm either way if it works out I'll totally have to let you know :)

Search burning tagua nuts or beef femur bones (dog bones in pet store a less work source than a butcher shop) - Both sort of a poor man's ivory (another material, old piano keys if you come across them). Pretty interesting materials, great for pendant jewelry or miniatures but expect to get into some cutting, shaping & sanding....

I should have put ivories on this list! Elk actually have ivories too and I find them sometimes when I’m hiking in the woods. I’ll have to try tagua nuts next 🔥🙌
