Big Bill turned your bullet into a wheel. Beautiful. You are the JT mane. Very certfied. I dont understand why you are not a QB coach #1 or a dope ass D Coordinator.
my casual observation is Mesh isnt that good a play if everything goes as it was drawn up but the defense has sooo many ways to fuck it up and you get a big play out of it.
Jt, bruh you're hella certified. I show this to my homeboy son, and he WR corp. Lol they play pop warner lol. You help get to the top 1% in Madden 2021 lmao. You are the man mane. GoPackGo
I like to tie things with R4 terminology. Just to have a set term for things. I would consider the settle ups as ‘read routes’ instead of checkdowns ‘rush’ routes. The footwork timing ties better to the settles. They’re also built to create YAC by placing the ball away from the nearest defender so the receiver is turning upfield away to get yards. Where as the swing route you’re just “checking down” = rush route. The way air raid footwork is can be sloppy making it almost like a check down because they’re late with the throw usually resulting in no yards in zone. If the Air Raid and West Coast mixes, creates a great timing offense that’s hard to stop. I don’t coach anymore just know the play since childhood lol. Also usually the deeper route is the first look (again footwork timing). Mesh is also built to be deeper than 5 and not used with TE’s. I guess kelce works bc OL is great. And not too vertical drift during man, just slightly. Flat will kill momentum especially if the QB’s can’t lead the ball. Option #5 is great when it’s rail, if you have time in the pocket or Goalline. Lots of things you can tag or change. #2 and #4 is one read 2A 2B. Diagram is a bit out dated and the OL splits were way wide back in the day making the pocket time longer. I learned it for 10 years when Riley was a student coach at TT summer camps. Just a easy play especially fast tempo and defense is tired. Reps reps. Fast fast. We practice it more than you can stop it but understand when coaches get frustrated with the play bc it requires 100% understanding. I want say Leach and Hal got it from Miami during a road trip. Miami probably got it from someone else. (BYU?) It’s definitely evolutioned like everything. If you go back I believe MICH ran bullets against Bama in crucial TD to win. Also NEB and other teams thought mesh was built with dig routes “we can do it too” but then QB would throw a INT from the backside safety on the dig. Mesh settling in zone is safe, up tempo and fun for QB’s. Free reign. Mahomes LOVES it. I wouldn’t say mesh is mesh. Unless you don’t want to optimize the mesh to the fullest. Rail is great for great catching RB’s leach went after RB’s that can catch. If you don’t have that, may have to cancel out rail and work mesh.
Great video and analysis. I agree with you about check down. Love traffic concept. I believe chiefs ran in last bowl. I like the old school ball call by the rb. Good job jt. You did a lotta research. Mumme. Riley. Sark. Bama. Double mesh. Pressure on lbs. I prefer deep in or dig too. I love you mentioning the uncertified thing! I will say I still see the darn play run a lot. With success. Ps, when is your next course coming out? Pss, this video is almost like another course!
Got not even 10 min into the video and got an idea for a play design that's almost a 3-way combo of mesh, flood and y-cross (didn't even look at defensive lineups, just the offense). With that said, would you find it fun to start a video series where we would come up with suggestions of 1-3 passing concepts we would like to see married together in a single play or utilized in tandem with each other throughout a playcall, then subsequently, you would explain how you would do it if it's plausible or maybe give alternate variations for said perspective? I think that would be interesting to watch if you're interested in doing it. I just wanna be creative and do things that are either new or uncommon for most defenses to have to gameplan around. Love the channel, especially the Xs and Os
Been looking forward to this one since you mentioned Mesh deserving its own video in the Shallow Cross Xs & Os (and then again in the Spider 2 Y Banana). You included some mesh plays in both those videos to show how those concepts had been elevated by the inclusion of a mesh element-and, wow, "Rocket Bullets" (discussed at 21:47) is almost identical to "Gun Double RT Squeeze Gone RT 022 Bullets F 4"-also from the Mike Martz playbook, which you discussed in the Shallow Cross video (at 13 minutes 30 seconds). th-cam.com/video/6GNA3Bbs9ww/w-d-xo.html . Only difference is that the F route in the non-two-minute play is a little less aggressive: there it was 14-16 yards, while in Rocket Bullets it's 16-18.
I don’t think Mesh isn’t the first read because it’s not the main idea of the play, but rather because of the timing of the play. There’s always going to be another route to look at first while you give the Mesh time to mesh and come open.
JT, great vid! Thoughts on both outside receivers running the mesh in a spread type 2x2? Instead of using 1 or more inside/slot receivers. Too long developing?
PCP can be (post corner post) a nasty route that breaks at the same depth as a post. In some cases “Ace flip 92 switch PCP, H-wheel” to get all Jon Grudeny with ya’ll. My old Kentucky days.
Why do this is if you're spending the whole time ripping it.. what's next Wishbone offense? not eveyone team uses WCO 15-word play calls.. All basic schemes can work with enough reps and tags.. / I like all your other x and o's vids..
@@TheQBSchool I have,, love your work "Hank", "Winston" "4 Verts.. WCO vs DIgits system... sent you few $$ for your next Burger and Pint.. to prove it... cheers..

Yes!!! Xs and Os is back
Keep posting all of this is the most important part of a qb !
game film is a big addition for me. keep it coming!

29:06 this is my Favorite pass play in Madden. Its a drive route and we do it with a play action. Nasty. Automatic TDs
14:40 PCP = post-corner-post (Leach's terms)
17:00 Sark, yes
Great channel! Content is amazing! Always have to be growing as a coach and JT provides a phenomenal platform to do so!!! Appreciate you! ~Coach C.
Even Hal Mummy himself called the mesh a check down... great video and teaching.
Did he?
Awesome video, Coach!!! Thank you for diving into it!!!
I feel like the "before we get meshy" pun was overlooked. Thanks for the video JT
thx
Great deep dive into concepts as always.
Loving the return of my favorite offseason videos… ❌s and 🅾️s
Love the breakdowns, and the inclusion of the film, thanks!!
18:56 Aaron Jones got alot of wide open TDs in Madden. I love this play

Weird question, can the mesh point be deeper than 8yrds?
it can be whatever you wanna coach it to be
Rocket Bullets is a fantastic band name.
haha

Thanks!
