Dress watches, and this is a dress watch, are 36mm - 39mm. Some may be 40mm and some may go way more depending on their complications. I assume you have an 8" wrist which is more or less like mine, the 36mm is fine for a dress watch. Enjoy it in good health:) Edit: 1991 bought a yellow gold sub in 40mm and few years before that an Omega Constellation at 40mm which strictly dress. So, yes 40+ mm were available, Patek/Vacherin and many others.
