  • MPC Live 2 Tutorial: How to get that vintage sound. WITHOUT using vintage mode. In this video I'm showing you how to get that nasty vintage lofi sound that we all know and love.
    If you want to get your modern MPC (Mpc live 1 and 2, MPC One, MPC X, MPC Touch) to sound like an old school sampler like the MPC 60, MPC 60 ii, MPC 3000 and MPC 2000 XL. Follow the steps in this video, I'm not using vintage mode - I'm taking it a step further.

    Dopeness, yeah you got it sounding good over there. I did notice, you’ve got a “gritty” classic sitting right next to your Live. Use that SP505 on your samples you’ll luv it. Keep em coming. 👍🏾✌🏾✊🏾

    No old Mpc sounds vintage or lofi. People will claim the 60 does but It don't. You can force it a little bit to do so by sampling the vinyl at 45 and then pitch it down in the sampler. But it is still pretty clean. I guess the sound you are looking for without even knowing it is the s950 sound. Sampled HOT at around 10khz bandwidth and then set the filter at arround 65. Instand 90s boom bap flavour!

    I've had a bunch of mpcs. I've settled on the Live and like it the best. It sounds sterile for sure. This is a great tip and a stellar beat. The vinyl Sim in Flavor what I've been using to add texture.

    5:43 : When tracking a "old heads" MPC out to tape, is all that processing on it ? Seems like all the drum sounds would have their own output.
    I guess to stay true to the MPC sound , I guess it would.

    • @ambrushadam
      @ambrushadam  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Well I guess you can break it down more than I did, I found a sound I like that sounds vintage in my opnion - is it accurate to real vintage gear and workflows? Probably not. Still a dope sound though.

  • @kamikaze6295
    @kamikaze6295 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    That the Akai 2000xl should have a special or Vintage.sound is a myth. No matter what device you give Kayne West, he can make them all sound in the same way dope. It all depends on the skill and creativity of the user and not what device they are using. which workflow is better suited for oneself is another topic.

    Well I sold my MPC-X for a really scary reason thanks to the advice of a music industry professional.
    Modern MPCs have touch screens and when they die the machine also dies, and changing it will cost as much as the machine, so I continue with my MPC 2000XL making the same good beats and with more peace of mind, because the screen can die and not cost me as much as machine.
    Ever since akai changed the idea from MPC to ¨Music Production Center¨, I didn't feel comfortable and excited with the sounds.
    I prefer to stay in the ¨Midi Production Center¨, really simpler, more limited, without plugins and just concentrating 100% on the art of sampling.
    I'm about to buy a SP404 mk2 for its different way of working and its wonderful FX, to also control it with MPC 2000 XL and that will be my production and DJ equipment.

    • @ismellpedo
      @ismellpedo 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Well, that “music industry professional” flat out lied to you. You can buy replacement LED touch screens for a fraction of the cost of the MPC-X. It’ll run you about 350 bucks.
      Replacing the screen is usually just a process of removing some screws and detaching a ribbon cable followed by doing the same in reverse for your new screen.
      You probably should have done some basic googling before selling my guy. Oh well.

    • @inperfectsequence7840
      @inperfectsequence7840 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ismellpedo Ok, with what the screen on the "mpcstuff" page costs me plus the shipping and tracking costs and insurance for shipping without loss, I can buy another sampler, even some second-hand shit, like a Korg Triton or some S3000XL or a cheap synthesizer . An old octatrack, a digitakt, an MPC live mk1, a maschine plus, a used SP404 mk2... XD
      I am not a DIY enthusiast and I have no equipment or experience for home repairs, but when I buy something and it turns out to be worse than another thing that has been with me for 20 years, it is simply a sign of a bad purchase, compared to a good one.
      I have things from the late 90s and 2000s that never went to the operating room to be treated for health problems.
      So the context of my comment is directly that the old Japanese has not died for more than 20 years and the new one in less than 5 died of the most delicate part of him.
      The boy is weak and with poor genetic quality, the quality of the materials is really bad, simply designed for market consumption and to be destroyed with occasional use for what is promised, but only for the short term, then it does not deliver.
      The boy's father is still in good health and is ready to run in the Olympic Games, with great agility and strength, taking slower but very safe steps. 😅🫣👍

    I have a doubt with the MPC compressors, do they follow the same logic of the attack and relays of fast left and slow right or are they inverted like the emulations of a fet type?

    • @ambrushadam
      @ambrushadam  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Word of advice: do this video over, and have the MPC screen take up the entire viewing shot so that we can see everything you do clearly. You have an interest technique to show, and it's a waste when it's not presented properly. I could barely see what you were doing with all that glare on the screen. Nice beat though.
