Do you have to buy the low grip tires every time you join a new session, or just once?
It's different for every tuner car. I tested it out myself. If you just lower it without putting on the grip, you will get about a second or 2 better at the airport. If you combine the low stance with the low grip, you will get about 3 to 4 sec better. Every car is different though as I said.

just tried racing the calico against my friends rsx. even when i gave my friend a head start, i still caught up and beat them

Nah, it is a glitch. Others have found that the coding from lowered suspension makes the car curb boost off of its own wheelhouse. Curb boosting is a glitch
