This took me two days to learn and I can finally play it at 100 bpm. This lesson has broadened my horizon as a guitarist. So for that, I thank you sensei
I just purchased this lesson pack and its incredible! awesome work mate. I would love your insight on what to do with these lines, once you learn a long line, how you would apply them or intergrate them into your own playing.
@@JackGardiner and the exact moment you hit that chord, it instantly came to mind making me think that it's even in C as well (seeing that I don't have perfect pitch) .. amazing .. like your playing. So when playing in C Lydian, I'm guessing all the notes light up on the fretboard for you. But when about when you play intervals? I'm guessing it's a mix of pattern recognition to know where are the 'right' notes are and then connecting them with your ear to get an expected sonic result .. but all of this is done using instinct and very quickly on the fly. All moxie and panache :) When you hear an extended chord, can you think of all the modes that fit and jump back and forth between them? I'd love to see you improvise over a Greg Howe track.
@@JackGardiner Not at all man, no taming needed. The difference between this and previous videos is incredible (not that the former was bad!) Will definitely get a couple of Skype lessons in soon (if you've got room) 🤟🏽
bro the tone you got is amazing with this guitar..you are phenomenal player we know that but i think the tone is far better with this guitar for some reason
Beautiful lydian phrase! Love your guitar playing! Excellent presentation of ideas! Naming chords can sometimes be tricky. I prefer Cadd9#4 to Cma9#11 to name the chord that you played at the introduction. I appreciate that the ma7 is referenced frequently during your phrase and that contributes to a ma7 harmonic sound. I suppose in that respect that Cma13#11 could work as a chord name too. Thanks for all that you're doing. It's inspiring me.
I bought your lick bundle off the back of this vid. I'm slowly working my way through it as part of my practice routine. Really great stuff! My only suggestion would be to include some backing tracks at maybe 140bpm. It's going to be a long time before im hitting 170! I had to time stretch it in Cubase to be able to use them to jam with.
Very cool, the sound have that stereo roundness to it. Nice lick, I'm going to look more into it. Had to rewatch the vid many timed, I'm a slow learner.
Nice guitar lesson and set up one thing its justt ithink the white light behind you is a bit bright cousing purple fringing specially if you use your sigma wide open but its just my own opinion thank you ...
Yeah man as good as can be in these times! Hope you and yours are all good! Deffo la been too long! Keep doing what you’re doing la absolutely killing it! 🤘🏼
Being half way through the video/lick (with a guitar - desperately trying! :D) for the THIRD time, I have to stop again to write a comment, that is as fresh as possible! :D I'm really trying to follow along. But there is one BIG problem with this lick (for teaching it in this way). The "strange" rhythmical position where it starts vs. the 0,5 seconds video start before the actual lick vs. the explanation without click or rhythmical reference. This is not meant negative at all! Please don't get me totally wrong! I have fun with this. But maybe you could do some kind of bonus video, where you just play that slow to a metronome and that's it? I'd love that, because the lick sounds awesome! But it's a real brain twister to learn like that. Most positive vibes from Germany! :) Markus
Okay, okay... I got a little more used to it, watching the video to the end. But the beginning is still hard. I just wanted to let you know, since I think, it's probably a matter of a second to start the video with more backing track context, before the lick starts and to include a click into demonstrations afterwards. Really no offense! I really like the video and lick! :)
I always look forward to Free Lesson Friday! Jack, you're one of my favorite guitar players. I have a question, I noticed that you have noticeable tone no matter what guitar (guitar pickups) you use, including some of your gear reviews. Is there something specific you shoot for as far as parameters? I have an FM3 and have tried to get close but failed miserably lol
Thanks so much Eddi! Glad you’re enjoying them man! Hmm... not really any parameters in particular. I love the sound of Plexi’s in the way that they react to dynamics. I don’t use that much gain usually either. Boost the mids a little and a bit of top?
@@JackGardiner Thanks for replying Jack! It means a lot to me. As a "mature" as a player, if that's the correct term haha, i find myself using less and less gain. I'm using one of friedman mods from fractal. I will try your suggestions.
This major triad a tone above concept for Lydian is new to me.. and just gorgeous shorthand. This is tip of the year for me.
one of the best guitar player and teacher right now, !! Cheers from Italy !

@@JackGardiner yeah It does!! There's a huge diferente dude.
Agree, the new mic sounds super clean and crisp
Production quality looking sweet, and guitar chops godlike as always
Phenomenal playing! The new setup sounds and looks great thanks Jack!
Great lesson! But I miss that beautiful Strandberg.
The Cmaj9#11 instantly reminded me of the Whitesnake song 'Is This Love' .. quite a sensual song with a lovely solo betwixt.
Yes!! Such an epic song!

Love the add 9th arpeggio at the beginning, I will be using that one. Thanks for making this free.
I’m a few months late, but, the voice audio and new lense are really good! Looks and sounds awesome...
Awesome! Simply Awesome ! Thank you Sir

Cool guitar, Jack :-)
Was this at all inspired by the Prelude from Final Fantasy?

Where's the Strandberg ? Always love your playing but that Strandberg blows away your other guitars !!!!
I'd take this beautiful AZ over any Strandberg. :b
